+Aleksi Taivainen well sometimes it seems that these epic loose games against Sweden are showed continuously in media. I don' t think in other countries they show so much videos of hockey losses. In Russian those does not even exist. :)
Even if you don't like being in sauna, you'll definetely love the feeling when you leave the sauna and go into a cold shower. That feels soooooo goood that I can't even describe.
+Dave Cad do it, it's the easiest thing ever! Finnish is a phonemic language, meaning all letters are always pronounced the same. There is a neat one-to-one correspondence between sound and spelling. To Finns, competing in a spelling bee would be like competing in a breathing contest - everybody in Finland who has a pulse can do it, with world-class precision. You can read Finnish with phonetical correctness after a few hours' instruction.
separate duvets are a must! I want to be like a burrito in my cover, and I cant do that if someone else is under the same cover! I want to be alone in my cosy burrito! And if you and you significant other are sharing, it's always someone who steals the whole damn cover! And the farts... I mean.... Farts are bad even when one don't share covers... :p separate covers for life!
+utbrottstjuv thanks! love the burrito thing. I'm lucky though really as I rarely use a cover anyway but the single each is much better for those extra chilly nights next to a burrito-er! haha
+filandaf a Finn, speaking svenska, is accurate. Just as Finns speaking sámi or somali for instance is accurate. In fact; there are no nations. There is this globe. "They" try to divide people in every possible way.
Was looking around for Finnish videos, considering learning the language, and stumbled on this video. Was worth the watch. Best part: "F***! Stop criming!" Lol. Thumbs up for you.
I live in Finland and I speak four languages. Finnish, Swedish, English and Spanish. Sometimes I am so tired that I have words from all languages in the same sentence... And sauna is one of the best things about living in Finland. Btw I love your videos!
I dated a Finnish girl sadly it didn't work out tho. Yes I found the 2 blankets weird but is genius lol the food is amazing I really miss the food and the snow and the very nice people.
I'm dating a swedish-speaking Finn and I can totally confirm everything you said! Also don't expect them to hold the door for you while they go through first, you'll end up smashing on it!
I'm a Kiwi with a Finnish girlfriend from Eastern Finland and they're more Russian influenced in culture and dialect. So different parts of Finland have their own 'cultures' in a way. And version of the language. Such as where she's from they smack each other in Saunas with 'Vasta' (instead of Vihta) :'D
I'm married to a Finn and I can identify with everything in this video, except the double-duvet thing. Everything else is pretty on point. The best to you and your FinnLove
Finns also have a gorgeous language that I'd love to learn, if only it wasn't so hard and unlinked to any of the languages I know 😕😢 Anyway, love from Greece! I enjoyed your video! 👌💙
***** Tell me about it....mind you, we didn't get to bed until 6am and had to be awake at 7:30am so not much sleep was happening......for all the wrong reasons.
OMG watching this was like seeing my own thoughts being expressed! My fiancé is finlandssvensk and the duvet thing drives me batty! Top tip - never criticise Kimi Räikkönen....
I found this video rather entertaining, since I'm one of those Finnish-Swedish people and I've never really thought about how we actually change languages so swiftly.
The second you talked about the duvet thing I knew you are dating a Fenno-swede, because I brought my finnish-finnish bf to Germany and he was just as baffled as me by not one but two hotels having separate duvets. One of them didn't even really have a double bed just two single beds pushed together and we kept falling between them. So the duvet thing is Germanic, not Finnish.
Ahaha, the "thou shall go in the sauna" commandment is so true! I realized the other day that all of my friendships with Finns literally trace back to some sauna experience or another...maybe I should make a video about this, actually...
You could go on an online dating website (like Badoo) change your location to Finland (say Helsinki Finland) and try and meet a Finn there, have a long distance relationship till one of you are ready to move.
Always good to get a video off ya, Dave! I had a similar problem dating a guy from Venezuela. Twas Portuguese, Spanish and English being thrown at me. It was terrifying! :P
UA-cam was suggesting me to watch your react vids about Finnish stuff. I watched a couple vids. Suddenly almost hours has passed and had to subscribe :D
Did her family ask you something? I found it very weird and a bit insulting that no one asks me anything when I hang out with my boyfriend's (Finnish) family. I even complained and I was told that's how it goes...
Okay, I'm Danish and I had no idea that couples would share a big duvet in the UK tbh. That sound incredibly annoying to me. Having your own duvet means you can regulate the temperature as you see fit, that you don't have to worry about the other person stealing it in the middle of the night etc. That's just better in every way. lol I imagine it getting warm as hell under a double duvet. Especially if you live in a country that knows about insulation and good duvets. Quite often I have to take off my duvet during the night because it's simply too warm. Imagine if another person was also adding heat to the damn thing. I'm not generally a huge fan of saunas.. Especially not sleeping in one.
One of the best things in Finland is the Lapland. You should try to visit in place called Nuorgam and continue over the Tenojoki to the Norway. Northest parts of the Lapland are the best, southern parts of the Lapland like Rovaniemi are kinda lame when u have seen the real beauty of nature in the north.
How did you meet your girlfriend? My experience of meeting Finnish women in London is that they started the conversations. I didn't like the sound of the other video where you said you mustn't talk to people when crossing their path in Finland. It's often possible to spot Finnish people, because they look like white Europeans, but they have no bridge to their noses, like orientals, as their ancestors came from in or near Siberia.
Went to omegle today. She was probably british. She called me cute many times. Then she got mad because i showed sero emotions. I liked her back but i just made fake smile. I'm finnish guy. So be prepaired that the finn guy wont show that many emotions.
I'm Finnish and the only Swedish I know is 'samma här', if that's even right😂 But I do speak three languages like most Finnish people, it's just that instead of Swedish I speak Spanish ☺☺
Just think how cold it gets here... It's nice to spoon, but if you have double-duvet and you roll over while your sleeping, you'll probably get an airpocket between you and the cold air will get under the covers! And you can definitely cuddle and spoon with separate covers. Just "combine" them and you're set :D
Hi dave! I hope you can make video how finnish people acting usually. We are "cold" people. It can be nice to see how you saw it and what you think about it. :)
Sauna is life, sauna is love. Sauna is our shrine and our church. Only heathens can say no to sauna! Sauna is life! Also there is places behind the sauna if you dont like it :D But anyway sauna is really big part of finnish culture so dont try to fight it because thats useless. And sauna is mostly harmless and important to finns. Also proper sauna means that even foreigners have to feel good in it, finns can do more heat afterwards.
I'm a Finnish girl and yep, it is great to have two duvets and if you want to cuddle it's wonderful and you can do it also, but you don't get annoyed if your partner steals the only cover :D. I'm not so passionate about sauna, thou it's a wonderful thing, especially after swimming if the water is really cold. It's so wonderful how you talk about your girl
This was such a nice video!! :) I'm going to link it to facebook so my friends will see it too. A Finn over here but actually I'm planning to move away from Finland. I feel like I wouldn't belong in this place :/ Anyway, I'll find my spot somewhere (thinking about Switzerland) but I'm happy you found a Finnish lady to love :)
Just think how cold it gets here... You're in luck having a Finnish partner. We're really the best there is. ;) Its not only Finnish-Swedish who can speak in tongues. Our school system offers us a great opportunity to become seriously multilingual. I'm finnish but I don't like sauna :DD so there's exceptions :P But true that many of finnish people speaks many languages. We just have to learn english and swedish in school, it's obligatory. But most of people choose fourth and even fifth language to study also. (I'm not good in swedish even though I studied it like for 7 years and most people are like me in here)
Tsemppiä! I hope you will do great with both languages. Don't be repel by Finnish, the grammar is pretty logical once you get it. It's only hard to memorize those words, which look so different than our languages! But I'm sure swedish is easier for you, since I've read some swedish and I can tell it looks like English and German! (Also your girlfriend may not help you as much as you would think with Finnish language, since mine doesn't understand the grammar :D)
+Guillaume Chaumette a couple of people now have said that it's easy once you know how! I'll for sure give it a go when I get better at Swedish! I'm finding Swedish easier than any other language I've tried to learn because like you say, it's very similar to English in a lot of ways!
My ex boyfriend was finnish, we went to have some pizza here in Brazil, he ordered one pizza for him and I was like "WTF???" Because in Brazil we just... eat the same pizza, everyone orders the same thing and we just share. Not to mention the size... We had a little fight about this xD
This made me think of when for some recent week ago during lunch break in work and my collegue, my boss and me had a conversation sitting at the same table and there were one of the new workers also sitting at the table and were pretty confused by listening to us because i was switching between swedish and english, my boss switching between all three languages (i think) and my collegue switching between english and finnish. +fecunditatis haha so true!
+fecunditatis and usualy they say suomi mainittu torilla tavataan
+fecunditatis yea unless its about hockey losses :D
+Aleksi Taivainen well sometimes it seems that these epic loose games against Sweden are showed continuously in media. I don' t think in other countries they show so much videos of hockey losses. In Russian those does not even exist. :)
That's true.

Avanto!
make a video in which you try to talk to Finnish
deal! :)
+Johannes M wow you make it sound so easy! it looks like such a crazy language but I'll give it a go for sure!
+Khiala Se sanoi että kirjaimet lausutaan aina samalla lailla. Opetteleppas eka englantia ja tuu sitten vasta haukkumaan retuks.

separate duvets are a must! :p
separate covers for life!
great video btw!
+utbrottstjuv thanks! love the burrito thing. I'm lucky though really as I rarely use a cover anyway but the single each is much better for those extra chilly nights next to a burrito-er! haha
+Dave Cad meaning you sleep without a duvet? That's impossible for me, even in the summer!
+Doodle Marley pretty much! I always start without a duvet and sometimes I sneak under during the night if it's particularly chilly!
wow, I start wrapped in, or around it in the summer.
Finlandssvenskar are only like 5% of the whole population
+TerryFGM nicee
Wow, where you from?

I am Finlandssvensk and proud of it
+filandaf a Finn, speaking svenska, is accurate. Just as Finns speaking sámi or somali for instance is accurate. In fact; there are no nations. There is this globe. "They" try to divide people in every possible way.
+filandaf Ja paskat :D
dammit finnish folks are just better version of everyone else
quit flattering us
This video is better than normal English guys videos, because its made in Finland!
wau ! made in findeland!!!!
Was looking around for Finnish videos, considering learning the language, and stumbled on this video. Was worth the watch. Best part: "F***! Stop criming!" Lol. Thumbs up for you.
Are you learning?
Finnish is one of the hardest languages to speak but if its your first language then its easy.
(i am finnish)
Because that's the language you know how to speak when you were a kid, DUH Any first language it's easy...
johana hercules Yeah you are right.
Joel Kupiainen yes its true I have Finnish boyfriend before he teach me how to speak in their language its very difficult hahahah
Yes I found the 2 blankets weird but is genius lol the food is amazing I really miss the food and the snow and the very nice people.
are we nice people?
let me laugh :)
Decent man um ok that's an interesting fact. I guess it explains why she was dating me rather than a man
Ok
I'm dating a swedish-speaking Finn and I can totally confirm everything you said! Also don't expect them to hold the door for you while they go through first, you'll end up smashing on it!
+krakklan haha i'm glad there's someone else taking a chance on a Swedish speaking Finn! ;)
I'm a Kiwi with a Finnish girlfriend from Eastern Finland and they're more Russian influenced in culture and dialect. So different parts of Finland have their own 'cultures' in a way. And version of the language.

I am a Finn, but not too good one. I dont like sauna, well nudity.
+Notprater Off to the woodchopper with you.
Show me the way.
"You´d probably get arrested" wELL NOT IN FINLAND
Finns also have a gorgeous language that I'd love to learn, if only it wasn't so hard and unlinked to any of the languages I know 😕😢
Anyway, love from Greece! I enjoyed your video! 👌💙
Yup the duvet thing is the same in Slovakia.....even in our bridal suite bed mate.
oh man! that's brutal! haha
***** Tell me about it....mind you, we didn't get to bed until 6am and had to be awake at 7:30am so not much sleep was happening......for all the wrong reasons.

Aino hey ;)
OMG watching this was like seeing my own thoughts being expressed! My fiancé is finlandssvensk and the duvet thing drives me batty! Top tip - never criticise Kimi Räikkönen....
I also love your accent and your voice! You're amazing! You deserve a lot more subscribers.. :D
The color of your eyes is so light it's unreal, I literally can't believe such a beautiful color can exist haha
I found this video rather entertaining, since I'm one of those Finnish-Swedish people and I've never really thought about how we actually change languages so swiftly.
+Joel Holmberg You guys are so crazily good at it! I'm pretty jealous of your abilities! ^_^
I'm "Finnish-Finnish" and every couple I know has two duvets 👀 I guess it depends on the area, like with everything
so true :-D
I experienced pretty much the same as a German dating a Finn.
Loved the sauna part 😂 because we love our saunas
"Stop criming" is now my favorite expression
i love your videos ( and Catharina's) i always click the like button before i've watched the actual video lol
Greetings from Helsinki!
aw thank you! that's awesome :D
Ahaha, the "thou shall go in the sauna" commandment is so true! I realized the other day that all of my friendships with Finns literally trace back to some sauna experience or another...maybe I should make a video about this, actually...
Loved that "kiitos!" :D
+Helmiina Heikinoja hehe :D
I'd like to date someone Finnish. But I've not met one yet in the U.K
+roxcon787 Ooooh man I feel your pain! that must have been crazy! xD
+Dave Cad It was ! I had no experience with Spanish at all, yet alone South American Spanish! xD You're always suspicious of what they're saying :P

Laughed so much when you said KIITOS 😂😂
That duvet thing is so true :) Finns need a lot of personal space.. And a Finn need to feel independent, even in a relationship, more or less. In a pub Finns buy their own drinks, to buy a round is a shock horror :)

+Brenda Lavoieri Oh really?! I'm not sure I could share a pizza either though....DAVE DOESNT SHARE FOOD xD
Now when I think of it, many finlandssvenskar speak 4 or even 5 languages quite fluently.
Haha, this is so funny :D Love: Lady from Finland ;)
+neiti86 Aw thanks!
This is very true! We finn's love Sauna, even hot summer day. You have to go to even more hotter sauna.
+Rifian_one haha yeah - I spent the whole summer in Finland and I lost count of the amount of saunas we had!
onw cover because its cold...quality products...sauna is for cleaning...
Separate duvets sounds like a great idea 👍🏻

Yaaaaaaaaah!

Hi dave, does all english (especially girl) people have the kind of eye u have? that is really good colour
The 11 commandment 😂😂😂thou shall what 😂😂😂😂
I can't live without sauna!
I love sauna
I want to live in sauna

"beautiful" and "finnish lady" in one sentence.
