What is "culture"? It means grown from the same source. It's a common language that ancestors spoke for thousands of years. A common traditional dress (outfit). Common literature and poetry that is taught to everyone and the common value thereof. Common ideology and instinctive believes of right and wrongs. Common folk and tribal music and dance. Common spirituality. Common standards. Common general characteristics. Common mental and artistic accomplishments. Common appreciation of life... There is so much more. But the very word of 'culture' means 'together'. The word comes from the culture that the Germans or Russians use in their particular bread, in their wine, in yogurt, in cheeses.... "of one source"

True I've noticed when people react to this song they think its "Vikings" off on a pillage trying to boost their kill count. They completely miss the message that its not war for the sake of war but actually war for the sake of their own survival. The official video illustrates the message beautifully and in that comment section I see a lot more understanding of what was being said.
True fact: the lead singer Maria Franz's dress is a replica of a girls dress from the Viking age. The girl was buried in her clothes and the clothes was so well preserved for the time. She was found near a town called Egtved and is now called The Egtved Girl (Danish Egtved Pigen)
Egtved pigen(Egtved girl) was from Nordic bronzeage East Bell Beaker culture, the Germanic Tribes was formed out of the Jastof culture. According to DNA readings she came from the South, possible around what is now Switzerland.
That's not true. This is a replica of Egtved Pigen, and it looks nothing like Marias: cdn-dk-hi-me.clio.me/_processed_/a/2/csm_Egtvedpigen_01_1c793a02c3.jpg
I think you must be confusing it with one of the other outfits found on Bronze Age mummies in Denmark, because the Egtved girl wore a short midriff-bearing top and a knee-length knotted skirt, not really similar to what Maria wears. It's true that their outfits are heavily based on Nordic Bronze Age clothing, though.
I think it is more reminiscient of a find of a grave believed to belong of a female shaman of the Hallstatt culture (late Stone Age) I remember this portrait from the museum of prehistoric history in Halle an der Saale: bylinetimes.com/2019/07/12/between-two-worlds-the-secrets-of-the-shaman-of-bad-durrenberg/
@@litiviousspartus4611 Correct, I should've been more specific when I said "their" and said "this was their first collective performance, as a group, in front of an audience." ...It didn't dawn on me that people that just discovered them most likely didn't know the background of some of the individual members. After all, I didn't.
I LOVE how one can see the exact moment (like a minute in) when the beat kind of grabs you, and your eyes go all distant. Amazing reaction! You got what it is about♡
Some curiosities. When they built the drums for the group, one of which is made from horse skin, a doctor drew blood from the three members of the group and painted the drums and some of their clothes with it. The male singer with the deep voice is a great tattoo artist and very professional. The bones the girl plays with are human bones and sometimes they have had problems in the countries of the tour to introduce them through the border from the country where the concert was held.
Heya from Norway. Awesome reaction! I love it! I'm not gonna repeat what others before me have already explained about Heilung and the context of the song, You hit the mark pretty early and spot on, and far more accurately than many of the other reactions I've seen to the song. I recommend Heilung - In Maidjan Live as well as Wardruna - Grå and Helvegen with Aurora, would love to see your reaction on those. Keep rockin/jammin/groovin!
I absolutely LOVE the balance Maria brings to the group. She is an embodiment of the Divine Feminine, that which holds all of the parts together. Especially in this performance with so much outward expression (Masculine), she remains a beacon of Feminine passivity and strength. It’s mesmerizing.
I mean rituals are pretty showy. That's kind of the point. Justin Bieber performes rituals too, it's just they're empty and devoid of meaning. The ritual is nothing special in and of itself, what makes Heilung special is what they use to make the ritual and where they take you. Which is somewhere before
I just discovered this band on my feed too and wow do I ever love them. The way they combine beauty and harshness, spiritualism and history, they're amazing.
I am glad that you give this extremely exceptional Nordic group a chance. I tell you a little about its history. The group, which are two boys and one girl, have Norwegian, Danish and German nationality and uses instruments such as horns of different animals, drums, human bones, rattles with human ashes, bells, stones, all to go back to the first musical compositions that They were able to interpret 10,000 years ago, in the iron age in northern Europe. All the letters are taken from carved gadgets from the era of the Nordic iron, such as arrowheads, bows, swords, rune stones and recite poems and psalms of war, peace and protection. Whereupon and for this, heilung, which means healing in German, is in close collaboration with archaeologists specializing in the field. The languages used by heilung are several. Among them are Latin, Old Danish, German and English. They were so successful with their first album that they had to release a new live album, which includes 2 new songs. Also a video of that album live and this year they released their second work, futha, which is a much more feminine work. His first album, Ofnir, is much more aggressive and masculine. During the concerts some representations of how these ancient rituals of the iron age could be made. Also just finished the soundtrack of the video game Hellblade 2. I hope this review helps you to understand a bit the context of this musical group. I recommend this video of her concert. ua-cam.com/video/h1BsKIP4uYM/v-deo.html
10,000 years ago in iron age? Wow, I learned at school that the iron age started about 800 BC, the bronze age at about 2,200 BC. Either it is the stone age or it is less than 3,000 years ago. Regarding their metal covered shields, lances and swords I would suggest they represent proto Germanic tribes, probably bronze age (Nebra Sky Disc period). But I may be wrong.
This is the Band Heilung “healing” the songs are from the runes of ancient Nordic beliefs. They don’t believe in the word fans they call all who come are brothers and sisters. They do NOT allow racism nor violence in their music, love ❤️ for Mother Earth and fellow brothers and sisters. I went to see Heilung earlier this year, and it was one of thebest gigs I've ever seen, it was one of the mmost profound experiences of my life. I'd highly reccommend them..
Love your reaction, this band is so incredible and their new album is even better. I would love to hear your feelings as a black woman seeing this musical+artistic reconstruction of pre-Christian European shamanistic/tribal culture. @@vergil8833 Heilung said they're not. Remember, that we all are brothers All people, beasts, trees and stone and wind We all descend from the one great being That was always there Before people lived and named it Before the first seed sprouted" Therefore that includes race.
@@adriancunningham3552 Thats what they HAVE to say in order to not be labled nazis since that is what happens every time European cultural expression becomes popular. But they do also straight up state it in the first line. "Amplified history *from early medieval northern Europe* " Why is it that everything from Europe should always be given to the world as if everyone has an equal claim on it? Can you guys really not enjoy and respect something from Europe without needing a pitty claim on it? It is "Early medieval northern Europe", that inherently limits not only race, but also culture. A greek has the same lack of connection to this as an african. They're still both free to enjoy it just like how I can enjoy the aesthetic of samurais without claiming to have any ownership over them because they're inherently japanese and I'm not. What their statament actually is saying is that they celebrate northern European culture but don't hate anyone else, because thats what they're forced to say since everyone who celebrate European cultures are instantly labled white supremacists by the powers that be.
@@vergil8833 It's a strange take to get so bitter over a group of people saying they don't have solidarity with Nazis. Maybe be mad at the Nazis for bastardizing European culture in the name of hate instead?

Extreme japanese nationalists also like the samurai, but I don't go around claiming that the samurai belong to all people of the world just to spite them, and neither should you. The idea that boogeyman nazis are bastardizing european cultures is really silly since thats what you're being told by the people who want to sell you marvels Thor and norse mythology videogames, the true bastardization of culture. It's obvious that none of these supposed nazis are actually nazis, they're just interested in ancient authenticity so they're called nazis whenever they say there weren't any black vikings, the authenticity part being not too different from the Heilung band themselves, which is why Heilung had to put out a statement so that weirdos like you don't go calling them nazis for worshipping northern european culture.
You're one of... 2, maybe 3 people with reaction videos to Heilung that actually clicked into the meaning/purpose of this song. I really appreciate when someone making these videos is actively listening and thinking about what they're listening to. Good job.
You're quite sharp to have picked up on all that meaning. It took me multiple listens to get any idea what they are chanting because it is all so new to me, but ancient at the same time. Thanks for this reaction.
You absolutely nailed what Heiling (healing) were doing in the piece. Where you stopped at 3:52 was perfect, since once you finished your comment, the singing started. Your insight into how some people only want war and conflict is amazing from someone of your age, though that may be an unfair assessment. It's also nice to see somebody who is probably not familiar with pagan rituals to really "get it". And your comment at the end that it was like something traditional 14:14) is accurate. Heilung are "reenactors" of ancient Scandinavian ways, and each of their concerts is really a ritual and everyone who comes is a brother and sister and participants in bringing healing to people. I wonder if you realized you were rocking in time with the beat. Heilung's music incorporates heart beat rhythms which are designed to draw you in, just like your hand gestures at the end. Also, they want you to enter into the "otherworld" - also known as "the far country" - of ancient spirits and gods which everyone's ancestors knew, which explains the fog. As an aside, I wouldn't recommend listening to this very day: spending too much time there is not a good idea. Keep up the good work. I wish more people had your insight into music and art which is off the beaten path.
OK, German here(62) I always thought I am a very civilized person, but this kind of "music" touches something in my DNA. I can feel my ancestors. My dog becomes a wolve, my cat becomes a wild cat 🙀 and I change into a....! Very disturbing, but it gives me so much energy ⚡ I discovered this just yesterday and I am now addicted to it!
the band Heilung (Healing in german) is a project abouit iron age germanic culture and tribes made by people from germany, sweden and norway. That said this song "Krigsgaldr" is old norse for "warsong"
This was great, both in a spiritual way, musical way and message way. The bottom line folks, is freedom ISN'T free. If you're not willing to fight for what you have, someone is ALWAYS more than willing to take it away. Freedom respects only one price, blood. It's harsh, but reality often is.
What I like most about Heilung's music is that, irrespective of the cultural background of the listener / viewer, it seems to evoke this atavistic urge to move to the rhythm that we all have in common.
I love seeing folks react to Heilung. People get so lost in the sound. You see their jaws go slack and their eyes get wide, and they start rocking or nodding to the beat. And Maria (the woman in white) is even more hypnotizing if you listen to In Maidjan and Norupo. She is the soul of the group and Kai and Chris frame her beautifully while also making their own, intense mark.
Yeees, this band is one unique experience, any song they do lol. They make you wanna trip on some hallucinogenic flowers, while drinking blood around a campfire, dancing the night away chanting to Odin. I believe part of their recent album is just poetry, it's not all "musical" Edit: Man that pause was about 4 seconds away from ruining the drop lol
Heilung uses historical information text, runic scrolls predating from Bronze, iron,Viking Age.So when you said it’s art you were kind of right in a way it’s historical art. They have just produced their first video for Norupo off the album Norupo this album is more feminine the first album was more masculine.Heilung in German means -Healing.
You paused the video right before the singer's part. Then you hit play again and it was like wow! Hahaha nice reaction :D. I recently discovered this band, I'm loving it so far.
I love your reaction to this group!! I hope everyone will do a little research and see just how talented they really truly are. One of my favs to relax to. Glad you did this one!!
I absolutely LOVE your take on the message behind the song! And it's sadly true, some people just want violence and war and don't think that we can move forward any other way and is a mentality that carried on in people who only know "the language of the sword". This is a band near and dear to my heart and I loved that you saw its deeper meaning rather than just commenting on the way it sounds :)
Heilung has always put out a message of unity peace and bringing people together. That is what a disturbingly large subset of their "fans" gloss over or miss entirely. And those people are why song like this are made. Nature isn't all flowers and sunshine. Sometimes it's teeth and claws. And it's those aggressive intolerant few who end up on the receiving end of them.
I love that you dig this. Thank you for posting it. An open mind can be a healing thing. :-) This (music, costumes, ritual etc) is what white people (European, primarily Teutonic) were before we got "civilized". It belongs to us all now. You are welcome. ;-) This song specifically is taken from the Eggja stone. A stone carved in runes covering a grave. It was carved and put into place about one thousand five hundred years ago. The runes on the stone form words and those words form an incantation (galdr). She is singing this ancient spell (galdr) in it's original language. Here are those words translated into English: "The household wanes, Vil threw a death wave over those The oarlocks wore out for, with the tired mast-top Who brought the horde to the land afar? The fish from Firnøy’s streams Swimming in the drift of the land of shining meadows. Be it of help, I work this. Not has the sun seen, nor the sword shorn, this stone, Do not seek who call forth the naked dead, Nor wildly men, this bed of rest!" The translation is difficult and there are a couple versions but this is close. Essentially it describes unseen rivers flowing through the land and from those rivers living things swimming at first like fish then flying forth from the water like birds, over the "shining meadows". The galdr invokes the Hæráss. Does anyone know his true name?
They are dressed in traditional ceremonial garments of Proto-Indo-European (northern Eurasia) Shaman. The antler headdresses are known as "regalia" (they were also worn by hunters) and the fringe covering the eyes of the Shamans are known by a few different names ("ongoi" to Shaman of Mongolia , Tibetan practitioners of Buddhism and shamanism mix called Chöd wear the "tomra", etc.) but among the Siberian Shaman, the covering is called "maykhabsha". According to the Siberian Shaman, the fringe of a "maykhabsha" is there to protect the people around the shaman, for when a spirit takes the shaman over, people must not look at the shaman’s eyes or face, or it will scare them or harm them, because of the power of the spirit. In short, Heilung music is designed to connect us to our ancestral past of hunter-gatherer tribes throughout the world who had a deeply intimate relationship with the natural and spirit worlds. That connection is the bridge to belonging, meaning, and healing...something our modern world has taken us further from with every passing day.
One Thing I adore about any of their live Clips is- the crowd is ALWAYS super respectful. There's complete silence for as long as they're performing and only after they're completely done they break out in cheers. Heilung calls their fand brothers and sisters, for they believe we're all one. Also thank you so much for this incredible breakdown of the song and your respectful reaction 💕 You're awesome!

Very good reaction . It was tribal people along the lines of what this was inspired by that actually fought and destroyed something like 10% of all the Roman legions in the forests of Germany way back in the day . That act alone was one of the biggest turning points in world history who’s effects are still very much felt today . This music is taken from actual ruins from Norse ( Viking ) and Iron Age Northern Europe so the words are as authentic as it gets . Very very interesting and in my opinion important music . Thank you for such a great reaction
Hehe Proto Germanic, not Indian lol. Same principle though. And I like that you actually heard this as a warning....thats more accurate than most. Most people say when they hear this, that it sounds like they are about to come and "burn your village". This song is a sort of warning. Its about a people that want peace but have been forced to take up the sword to defend themselves against invasion. Krigsgalder does mean "Warspell." or War Blessing." The interim in this song, which a lot of people called a "rap" incorrectly, is a chant. I like how you get the vibe of this band more than many people after first hearing this.
I love seeing people react to Heilung❤️ it’s a call to our hearts to return to Mother Earth, heal us and cleanse us of the hatred, to stand up for what is right, to give us the strength to look evil in the eye and give it no rest.
They call it dark folk or enhanced history. Just got tickets to their show in Red Rock amphitheater Colorado. They play with skin drums and bones and other ancient instruments. You’ve found a diamond of a musical group.
I absolutly love your reaction to it :D Your whole body movement and so on. it prooves, that this type of tribal music - no matter from which culture - speaks to something deep in all humans which only prooves we are all of one kind. Also highly impressed, that you instantly got the meaning of the song
I really enjoyed watching your physical reaction to the progression of the song, not just verbal - but the progression into a vibe that went with the mix of sound and build of the story of the song. Great commentary as well. Thanks for doing this reaction!

As others said, the female singer is Maria Franz She's sung with Euzen, and there's a lot of videos of Valravn where Maria is singing with Anna Katrin Egilstrød. Krummi is a great song by them. There are videos from Castlefest from one year (I can't recall which one) where Maria was on stage singing with so many bands it was like the Maria Franz show. Videos from Euzen's own Castlefest performance are also great. She's a great singer.

But you only understand the language of the sword
What if I want to tell you to leave me and my beloved ones in peace
But you only understand the language of the sword
I let the blade do the talking...
So my tongue shall become iron
And my words the mighty roar of war
Revealing my divine anger's arrow shall strike
All action for the good of all
I see my reflection in your eyes
But my new age has just begun
The sword is soft
In the fire of the furnace
It hungers to be hit
And wants to have a hundred sisters
In the coldest state of their existence
They may dance the maddest
In the morass of the red rain
Beloved brother enemy
I sing my sword song for you
The lullaby of obliteration
So I can wake up with a smile
And bliss in my heart
And bliss in my heart
And bliss in my heart
Coexistence, Conflict, combat
Devastation, regeneration, transformation
That is the best I can do for you
I see a grey gloom on the horizon
That promises a powerful sun to rise
To melt away all moons
It will make the old fires of purification
Look like dying embers
Look like dying embers
Look like dying embers

I love your intelligent and passionate breakdown of the song. You really listened. Some reviewers act like fools, you have grace.
she has. she proves it time and time again
I cried lol she really understood, she truly tuned in
You understood their message so well. Most people don't. Big ups to you.
It's the main reason I'm unwilling to trust asking someone to react to them. "Coo', Vikin's n shit" is not the reaction they deserve.
True fact: the lead singer Maria Franz's dress is a replica of a girls dress from the Viking age. The girl was buried in her clothes and the clothes was so well preserved for the time. She was found near a town called Egtved and is now called The Egtved Girl (Danish Egtved Pigen)
Egtvedpigen is Bronze Age, further from the Vikings than we are now. There has been very little Norse clothing found.
I think it is more reminiscient of a find of a grave believed to belong of a female shaman of the Hallstatt culture (late Stone Age)
I remember this portrait from the museum of prehistoric history in Halle an der Saale:

This band is so unique. React to their alfadhirhaiti from the same concert.
Yes!
Now wrap your mind around this being their FIRST live performance in front of an audience!
As a Band but not individually, they were all part of other groups before.
@@litiviousspartus4611 Correct, I should've been more specific when I said "their" and said "this was their first collective performance, as a group, in front of an audience." ...It didn't dawn on me that people that just discovered them most likely didn't know the background of some of the individual members. After all, I didn't.
Huge props to the sound crew on this show.
Everyone who hasn't seen it should check out the whole live show.
Oh my gods, yes they should. My husband introduced me to all kinds of different music.. Mongolian, Samoan/Maori. Check out The Hu and Alien Weapnry
They are not performing a show. Their performances are rituals.
"bronze age gospel" if you will.
Baptism is a ritual.
@@moonlit9924 , uuh, yeah...?
Absolutely. I am so moved every time.

*germanic group. Not nordic especially. But well it's part of germanic and they're creating nordic, saxonian and so on songs, too.
This has been a fantastic reaction. You really went through the gamut of emotions, Hielung will do that to you.
If you want to hear a song from them that will send shivers down your body listen to Heilung , Maidjan You will feel the spirit of the ancient world. Also they don’t do concerts they do a ritual they have even performed with Native Americans. You would love the experience. Enjoy the world love yourself and find your happiness in this world as Odin will one day call us all.
❤ i love them
Not only "Nordic" also Germanic. Some songs are actuall in the Prot Germanic language (baiscly very old German)
Why are you defending them from accusations of racism that were never even made? Is that a disclaimer you make when you talk about other bands too, or just ones that bear distinctly European peculiarities?
@@bignumbers because stupid people including trolls live and love to claim ahhhhh white German or Nordic = racism.
So just to clear it up that we are not about that crap.

I love Heilung. Please more! Every Heilung song is amazing! Norupo official ts a very good song and video of Heilung,
Greetings from germany. I like your reacton.
Greetings from Houston, Texas
Music begins and India sees the band members "Oh Shit!" ... Greatest reaction to this band I've ever seen!
Another song I would love to see you react to is from the Band Wardruna and Aurora, the song is "Helvegen"... It is similar to this song as it is taken from ancient inscriptions....
I love that song.
Yes please review wardruna helvegen live!
The Singer is MARIA FRANZ. She also sang in another band named EUZEN. They made very good songs.
Love Euzen... especially Metamorph
Egy istennő
Those are also real human bones she plays
Yes, she does have a beautiful voice. Also, look for Floor Jansen (Nightwish), Jonna Jinton & Aurora (Wardruna)
Fun Fact: LIFA was the first time Heilung performed live together. You need to watch the whole show, not to react for us, but for yourself. It is truly an experience.
lol
One of THE best reactions to this song I’ve seen! And trust me lady, I’ve seen a lot.
You actually were interested and curious AND you actually liked the music and it’s meaning.
This band is pretty phenomenal. I would definitely recommend listening to the songs Norupo (official video), or In Maidjan. The second song you can do the performance from this same concert.
Now this live version of Krigsgaldr is wonderful. There's no doubt about that, but at some point you should check out the official video for it. It's one of the most beautiful and sad pieces of animation that I've ever seen.
100% best video ever most people I've shared it whith has cried. AWE INSPIRING
Omg the official video just made me sick, I wasn't well for days after seeing it. I guess it was meant to but I wouldn't have mind a warning xD
I went to see Heilung earlier this year, and it was one of thebest gigs I've ever seen, it was one of the mmost profound experiences of my life. I'd highly reccommend them..
Same.... i saw them in Denver and was blown away, seeing them live is such an amazing experience
Love your reaction, this band is so incredible and their new album is even better. I would love to hear your feelings as a black woman seeing this musical+artistic reconstruction of pre-Christian European shamanistic/tribal culture. Many of these songs are rune poems or taken from (and sung in) olden anglo-saxon, germanic, norse lore. I find it equally beautiful to listen to tribal / world music from every culture and ethnicity across the world. It all moves me. There is beauty everywhere and within all of us. Much love!
She looked like she was close to tears. Girl same.
Heilung isn't dedicated to one race. They're for everyone. They're here to heal everyone's mind, soul, and to unite us. :)
They kinda are. Everyone can enjoy it, but it is specifically Northern European.
@@vergil8833 Heilung said they're not.
This is their statement from their UA-cam channel: "Heilung is Amplified History from early medieval northern Europe and should not be mistaken for a modern political or religious statement of any kind.
Remember, that we all are brothers
All people, beasts, trees and stone and wind
We all descend from the one great being
That was always there
Before people lived and named it
Before the first seed sprouted"
Therefore that includes race.
@@adriancunningham3552 Thats what they HAVE to say in order to not be labled nazis since that is what happens every time European cultural expression becomes popular. But they do also straight up state it in the first line. "Amplified history *from early medieval northern Europe* "
Why is it that everything from Europe should always be given to the world as if everyone has an equal claim on it?
@@kimberlywolfenheart4275 No I won't get mad at a fictional scapegoat whos used to justify the theft of European cultures, I'll get mad at the thieves just like all nations do.
When you started to move back in forth at the mid crescendo I knew you felt it! Great Reaction!
YES!! Finally someone breaks down the spoken word part, understands it, and appreciates it all! Gorgeous!
Yeeessss!!!! I'm so happy you got to Heilung :D listen to the song In Maidjan by them at this concert, her voice will blow you away xD much love
I saw them in Portland. They're aaaaabsolutely incredible live.
What the heck. It's amazing that you caught the message in that vocal. You're great
the band Heilung (Healing in german) is a project abouit iron age germanic culture and tribes made by people from germany, sweden and norway.
That said this song "Krigsgaldr" is old norse for "warsong"
I love how the band's name means "healing" because I feel something deep inside me healing when I listen to it
This was great, both in a spiritual way, musical way and message way. The bottom line folks, is freedom ISN'T free. If you're not willing to fight for what you have, someone is ALWAYS more than willing to take it away. Freedom respects only one price, blood. It's harsh, but reality often is.
Every reaction: "Sounds like they're going to war."
Krigsgaldr = War Song/Spell
Thank you so much! Hakkerskaldyr is another great one. Pure energy!

I believe part of their recent album is just poetry, it's not all "musical"
Edit: Man that pause was about 4 seconds away from ruining the drop lol
1:51 "so, what instrument do you play?" "oh, the human bones"😂
Heilung uses historical information text, runic scrolls predating from Bronze, iron,Viking Age.So when you said it’s art you were kind of right in a way it’s historical art. They have just produced their first video for Norupo off the album Norupo this album is more feminine the first album was more masculine.Heilung in German means -Healing.
You paused the video right before the singer's part. Then you hit play again and it was like wow! Hahaha nice reaction :D. I recently discovered this band, I'm loving it so far.
How did I miss you reacting to my favorite artist?????? Skál!
I love your reaction to this group!! I hope everyone will do a little research and see just how talented they really truly are. One of my favs to relax to. Glad you did this one!!
I love that you understand the meaning behind the song this is great I love your Channel
Great choice, love them. They stirs my Celtic soul with voices from the past.
The deep voiced singer is singing in overtones, similar to Tibetan and Mongolian overtone styles.
I love that you dig this. Thank you for posting it. An open mind can be a healing thing. :-)
This (music, costumes, ritual etc) is what white people (European, primarily Teutonic) were before we got "civilized". Here are those words translated into English:
"The household wanes, Vil threw a death wave over those
The oarlocks wore out for, with the tired mast-top
Who brought the horde to the land afar?
The fish from Firnøy’s streams Swimming in the drift of the land of shining meadows.
Be it of help, I work this.
Not has the sun seen, nor the sword shorn, this stone,
Do not seek who call forth the naked dead, Nor wildly men, this bed of rest!"
The translation is difficult and there are a couple versions but this is close. Essentially it describes unseen rivers flowing through the land and from those rivers living things swimming at first like fish then flying forth from the water like birds, over the "shining meadows". The galdr invokes the Hæráss. Does anyone know his true name?
This is a burial song before going to war when you know you aren't coming back
They are dressed in traditional ceremonial garments of Proto-Indo-European (northern Eurasia) Shaman.
OH YES! This is so amazing!
One Thing I adore about any of their live Clips is- the crowd is ALWAYS super respectful. There's complete silence for as long as they're performing and only after they're completely done they break out in cheers.
Heilung calls their fand brothers and sisters, for they believe we're all one.
Also thank you so much for this incredible breakdown of the song and your respectful reaction 💕
You're awesome!
Btw. Krigsgaldr means war spell.
yes galdr is a form of spoken spell one could say
It can also mean war chant, as she said, because galdr is a type of magical chanting.
i have to say, the sparkle in your eyes when she first started singing was so pretty! just the amount of curiosity expressed was powerful. your commentary was also insightful. good video!

The lore behind these songs is far older than the era of Vikings.

I have loved Heilung since I ran across them in Norway four years ago. I had never expected them to be reacted to like this. It’s truly a unique experience to see them live. This is music of the Bronze Age.
Listen to the whole show. The first time i heard it i watched it again right after. Maria Franz has the most beautiful voice on the planet.
Just discovered this band a couple of weeks ago and they are awesome. Love watching the live performances
Krigsgalder does mean "Warspell." or War Blessing."
The interim in this song, which a lot of people called a "rap" incorrectly, is a chant.
I like how you get the vibe of this band more than many people after first hearing this.
Found you in a search for more Heilung videos. Love how you catch the vibe early on and GET the music.
You got the sounding horn right off. Nice call. And you got their rap too.
I love seeing people react to Heilung❤️ it’s a call to our hearts to return to Mother Earth, heal us and cleanse us of the hatred, to stand up for what is right, to give us the strength to look evil in the eye and give it no rest.
YES 🙌 give evil no rest 🙌
“I play the cello, what do you play?” “The bones of my ancestors.”
They call it dark folk or enhanced history. Just got tickets to their show in Red Rock amphitheater Colorado. They are Northern Europeans performing shamanic and tribal music inspired by ancient Northern European traditions. One of my favorite bands. They play with skin drums and bones and other ancient instruments. You’ve found a diamond of a musical group.
Heilung is my go to for meditation. So powerful yet subtle. It's a great, slow burn.
I absolutly love your reaction to it :D
Your whole body movement and so on. it prooves, that this type of tribal music - no matter from which culture - speaks to something deep in all humans which only prooves we are all of one kind.

Oh I have so enjoyed your reactions to this! I love their music and getting to see somebody see this for the 1st time is amazing!
Diese Music ist so einmalig. Sie geht nicht in dein Herz sondern in die Seele. Bis auf den Grund. Ich wollte sehen wie du reagierst. Ab 2 Minuten schloss ich die Augen und Genoss einfach nur: Heilung....
This is the first time I've seen someone react to this and understand it. Your reaction kinda choked me up a bit! You're wonderful!
They are praying to heal the world!
Always brings a tear to my eye
You have very good insight
I saw Heilung in San Francisco...and i have a ticket to see them in Red Rocks October 2021. It's nothing like you have ever seen or heard. Auditory and visual art. They tell a story. It's a ceremony...a ritual.
