John Schneider shouldn't have the interim tag next to his position. He has earned the role full time and has done so much for this team coming up through the ranks with players like Vladdy and Bo. It makes me wonder if the front office wanted Schneider for the job this whole time, but wouldn't give it to him at first without top level experience. He has shown he can manage a team in a playoff push and quite well. Looking forward to seeing the Blue Jays clinch a wildcard spot.
If Montoyo was still managing I seriously think we might not be in a playoff spot right now. Schneider makes such good calls and brought some much needed accountability and responsibility back to this group of largely young kids.
I definitely think they were grooming Schneider to eventually take over, Montoyo losing the clubhouse near the end of his tenure sped up the process. He coached the core (Vlad, Bo, Romano, Biggio) and a lot of the other guys on the roster when they were in the minors and came up to the Majors at the same time they did. He knows these guys better than anyone and this whole thing is practically identical to how Nurse eventually got the Raptors head coaching gig. Schneider's game sense has really impressed and I think he's managed the starters and bullpen quite well so far. His bold playcalling realy compliments the play style of this current roster. I think he's a perfect fit and can see him leading this team long-term barring no issues and continued success. Excited to see what decisions he'll make it under pressure come playoff time.
Give him manager of the year for what he has done already! SIGN HIM FRONT OFFICE.. Along with Manoah, Bo, Vladdy, and Ross.... make it happen this summer!
Blue Jays are unbelievable!! Toronto's pitching staff pitched a 'collective' gem, in what seemed like a playoff game. And Hernandez and 'Big Bad Vlad' got the hits needed to eek out a 10th inning nail biter.
Hopefully Vladdi's walkoff this game gives him some more confidence at the plate and he starts to get hot, strike out less, ground out less, etc. Either way, great game! I hope Berrios can have a half decent start tomorrow.
These last few games, Jays defense has been looking TIGHT. Excellent pitching tonight, aside from 2 runs Gausman shut down the Yanks, Yimi bounced back after a couple bad outings, and Mayza, with bases loaded and the game on the line, takes out Rizzo. Lastly I have to echo what I've already been seeing in these comments: Schneider IS the Jays Manager. He's been doing a phenomenal job and needs the "interim" part taken out of his title.
In this case it was super appropriate; it was going to be about Judge getting 61. Play the game and if records happen, they happen but it's about playing the game.
These highlights have made me a fortified baseball fan. I don't have time to watch full games because of work. Hopefully they continue to do them and I can continue following the seasons for years to come!
Vlad's game winning single was some serious PLAKATA! 117.3 mph, yeesh. Lots of haters saying his season is disappointing... because his numbers are slightly down from an MVP-calibre season last year... It's his house and you never see him lacking intensity or aggressiveness in big moments. No one is happier for their teammates when they play well. It's rare to see the guys that can have the most fun playing and don't lack for intensity when the pressure is on.

Moving Judge to leadoff has increased the pressure on him. If he were still in the middle of the order like he’s been since April he might have 65 by now (and maybe an outside shot at Bonds). And it’s giving the Maris family an extended tour of the hemisphere.
