- Here is the very rare stereo version of the wonderful song, '"Ticket For The Wind" by John Stewart. This song is played during the end credits of the 1983 film SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT PART 3.The versions that are on youtube are in mono, recorded from the film, which is in mono.but this stereo version comes from the very rare LP soundtrack, which is pictured. You will hear so much more in this stereo version! This is from my collection.
As an OTR trucker, this song is my anthem!
This song should be a tribute and dedication to Burt Reynolds, Jackie Gleason & Jerry Reed! Rest In Peace to the three of them!
True that.
Hurts us even more cause there won’t be any legends like them
💯💯💯💯
RIP Mike Henry
@@albundy774 and John Stewart who died singing this the song for the movie
Probably one of the best end credit songs ever.
Definately!.JohnGuinto

This is a perfect song to listen to when you're driving cross country!
I totally agree!!!!
Great tune ...I don't care what anyone thinks I love the film as well
Awesome!!!! Thank you!!!!
This makes me want to buy a Trans Am and go cross country while listening to this song!
RIP to Burt Reynolds, Jackie Gleason Jerry Reed & John Stewart who died singing this the song for the movie
Junior running off into the sunset money blowing everywhere lmaoo 🤣🤣🤣
Grew up with these 'Smokey And The Bandit' movies in the late 70's-early 80's and am watching 'Smokey and the Bandit 3' and LOVED this song at the end of it too! These movies were better than many think they were, even if Burt Reynolds only made a cameo in the last movie. I think Jerry Reed was an awesome Cledus Snow in all three of these movies...back when movies were better made, cheaper to go to and more enjoyable than they are now! :-)
RIP Jackie Gleason :-(
Sheriff Buford T. Justice of Montague County, Texas :-)
Yeah when I watched the movie and at the end, you hear this song playing. It's sad because you knew it was the last one. But now it's great to listen to, the memories and now their theme song.
I agree. The show was a silly comedy but the end conversation between Bandit and Justic about the changing world, and then this closing song really added something emotional to the end of an era.
One of the songs to the soundtrack of my adolescence. Every time I hear it I think of The Bandit lettin Jr get the fish.... Go head Jr just help yo self Son....
For me, it hits you that Smokey and the Bandit is forever over at 0:28 seconds in, when the synth riff really kicks in and John then begins to sing. Smokey and the Bandit 3 wasn't brilliant.....but the music still signals that the ride for the Bandit is over!

Well said...just finished the trilogy, I haven't watched them since I was a kid in 80s. I'm 45 now. I got that lump watching those credits to part 3. Well said....the chase is at long last over. Rest in Peace to all of them. Hal Needham included.
Still can’t believe Burt left us I’d rue the day that this would happen I’m truly broken hearted 💔💔💔
I cried at the end of this after seeing Burts cameo knowing it was gonna be the last in the series
And the Bandits time, there's a borderline, gets me everytime
he was a member of the Kingston Trio a legend who is hardly mentioned . RIP
Will always remember you .
Bandit till i die
I have farted so bad that I nearly got a ticket for the wind.
Damn. At one time I owned that "very rare" LP. Will have to see if it's still among my possessions...
You, my firend, are the governor. I've been looking for a decent version of this song for YEARS. All the other uploads were sped up slightly... You da man.
C. Buck Hyres It's definitely a song that stays with you after you watch the movie. Used to hum it to myself all the time when I was younger. I had no other way of hearing it, unless I rewatched my Smokey3 VHS...
great song, I have the soundtrack also. very rare indeed!
could you upload the rest of the soundtrack to UA-cam?
the guy also wrote Daydream Believer.
The movie was poor at best but this song and ain't the gold actually made the film worth watching to get the poignant sense of ending, the emotion that the chase and duel between the bandit and the smokey will forever go on but we will not see it after this
C. Buck Hyres I think they knew they had a turkey of a film on their hands after it was cobbled together from the failed idea of smokey is the bandit, they knew it was the end so they actually bolted on a very nice ending to a below par film
you are doing great

This is such a beautiful piece of music. I'd love to know everything about its creation. Like, was it written specifically for the movie? It seems like it was. And who is/was John Stewart? What else did he do?
I like the sound from 2.50 of the sound like a siren
he kinda sounds like Johnny Cash in some ways. Love this song. Too bad I can't get it on tape or MP3
This has nothing to do with John's songs but I am fairly sure Burt Reynolds really wasn't in this movie except for some cameo shots from the original film.
Something confuses me about the lyrics
Im behind you now, and you can never win
Im behind you now, and your days are getting thin
That doesnt really make sense to me, is this Buford saying to the Bandit that he's not given up and is gonna chase him to the ends of the earth and wont stop until he catches him? If that's true then where or how does the "And your days are getting thin" line work in?
Lonestar327 I've always sort of interpreted it as if Buford says to the bandit that he's evaded him so far, but one day will be caught
"DAYS ARE GETTING THIN" means his time is almost done.
hello?
Probably one of the best end credits songs to one of the worst movies ever made.
