An enthralling story, perfectly performed by Michael Page. His immense skill in voice production and character differentiation not only allows us to distinguish each character but also vividly portrays their emotions as the story unfolds. This is my first time leaving a comment on a reading, but it is absolutely well-deserved here.
A very interesting and fascinating story with intriguing historical information I Googled images of Covent Garden in C.1800 and was thrilled to see, all that the author, described in her book. I also Googled Prince William, Duke of Clarence and his mistress for 20 years with whom she had 10 children. She had a sad end dying in poverty in Paris. I was shocked at the encounter when Inspector Lavender, with lavicous intent, hunted Magdalena for a one night stand, having only just met her! ❤❤❤❤
Great Story…Again! Thank you so much for writing about a period of time in England that I am not familiar with & for your memorable, interesting characters. Again, a big thank you to Michael Page for his excellent narration!
I've really been enjoying the Lavender stories. They're so interesting with their details descriptions of the conditions & environmental of that time period. Thank you so much.
Fabulous easy listening. The author has imbued her hero with the right measure of humanity and instinct. Even the character of Magdalena is believable as a sometimes spoilt petulant 29 year old woman. The only thing i don't understand is why is he always shown as a much older man in the cover picture on these podcasts when the author actually describes him as a 30 year old Principal Officer in Bow Street in the novel Catching the Eagle set in 1809 and in this story he is described by Reed as being a couple of years older than Magdalena.
I love that this audiobook is 10-hrs long, because I’m LOVING IT!!!

Wow I’m so enjoying Detective Lavender and the way Micheal Page interacting while reading the audiobook 😊
