Seriously, that entire day was so goddamn horrible for Kiryu. He lost Reina, Shinji, Kazama, Nishiki and Yumi within a few hours. All the people he truly cared for. Holy fuck. It's damn miracle that Haruka alone was enough to make him regain his will to live. I will never ever complain about trivial things again.
Kiryu had a shitty life. If Haruka wasn't there he would just spend rest of his life in prison or probably just kill himself. Man has Jupiter sized balls, but that would break anybody.
@@archol6596 Yeah, and its not even like his suffering ends there. At some point you just start to feel sorry for the dude. Also, nice Dr. Stone pic. One of my favorite shows of 2019.
In the original yakuza, nishiki was given no backstory. So he was just "haha betrayal go wee" in kiwami and after 0, its feels like a battle of philosophy. Nishiki is just so blind by the desire to surpass kiryu and not be compared to him anymore, instead kiryu being compared to nishiki, that he forgot who he was fighting. Kiryu. His family. In the end, his mistakes had a price tag attached. And he paid with all he had left. His life.
@@totallybepsi3062 It's different, "Judgement" is the song he sang with Nishiki. It doesnt show up again after he becomes a changed man and dies. It's a song where Kiryu remembers the good times with Nishiki
Nishiki stopped Kiryu from taking the wrong path but no one was on Nishiki's side to stop him from taking the wrong path. Poor Nishiki, he didn't deserve anything that happened to him
Masakazu Watanabe Exactly I don’t want new people after playing Kiwami i only care about Kiryu Majima and Haruka and why did they kill Nishiki I’m so mad lol
Rip Tachibana, Nishiki, Reina, Yumi, Kazama, and Shinji Too much emotion on 0 and Kiwami, manly tears were shed, dunno how gonna compete and move on to Kiwami 2
Kiryu literally went through hell in this game, everyone important to him died within a day or two and seeing him lose all his will to live in the end was heartbreaking. Playing 0 before this really makes Nishiki's death hit a 100X harder
Honestly, it amazes me how RGG managed to make it so kiryu just... didnt want to kive anymore and then he gets reminded that he may have lost what he always had, but that theres still the things he will always have. Mainly, haruka. And the post credits scene, seeing kiryu with the most genuenine sime slapped on his face makes me realize how much of a fucking man kiryu is.
@@Maxler5795 honestly, that was a good way to end the first game. Since if only had a single game, then we could've assumed that Kiryu got life imprisonment, hanged (Japan has hanged people as recent as 2018) thanks to the huge amount of damage and possible people who he killed (remember, he's a criminal, and is okay with killing people as long as it's self defence or someone has given him a bloody good reason), or committed suicide because he felt like he had no one left to live for and Haruka just reminded him of the people he lost.
I was so late to the party. I played through Zero, saw how Majima became the mad dog we know, how Kiryu faced hardships with Nishiki at his side. When he had our back, we could go forward knowing our bro was there. And then, slowly the path he and Kiryu walked together all this time split. Nishiki had to walk alone, taking knives into his side in the form of comparisons to his best friend, slowly turning his view red with envy. And the more people he lost, the more he lost himself, not even realizing whom he was hurting around him anymore. No matter if it was his brother, no matter if it was the woman he loved...or the woman that loved him. But even to the end, when we were in Kiryu's shoes, slugging it out with him, we were punching our sworn brother. Yakuza is an amazing franchise and I know now why the community is so passionate about it. Now with Kiwami done, Kiwami 2 is my next target. But before that...I think I'll return to Zero to a bit and sing a bit of Karaoke with my bro T.T
I also love the symbolism behind it. Nishiki's tatoo represents the koi who swam up a waterfall and became a dragon. And Nishiki's story is that of a man who so desperately wanted to become a dragon (like Kiryu) that he ended up sacrificing his own humanity to do so. God, I love these games.
I look at this photo and see only tragedy... sad, but it's life. I haven't felt so much empathy for characters in a long time. Props to the Yakuza Team for be able to give me the feeling that the characters are real.
If yakuza thrives in one thing is the world building and making everythkng feel real. From things like after 1 of these games youll remember at least 3 street names (i remembered tenkaichi, nakamichi and if it counts the champion district) or the characters feeling human. To completely outlandish things like the the games release dates matching in-world time. Excluding 0, kiwami and kiwami 2 for obvious reasons. But even then, 1 & 2 take place when the original came out.
Nishiki might be the best antagonist in gaming history. If you have played Zero, he's your brother, your best friend who tries everything to help you out. In Kiwami, you can see how he changed the day his sworn brother goes to prison for 10 years. You can see how he changed because of his sister, the disrespect he had to deal with... the moment he couldn't carry those masisve weights on his shoudlers anymore. The moment he realized what he has done, at the end of kiwami, and how it all ended... it always lets me cry... He wasn't strong enough to survive without his brother, without his best friend... and it's just heartbreaking to see his tragic downfall. If you see the contrast how he's singing karaoke and dancing with Kiryu in the disco :'(
I played 0 before Kiwami, he's the best friend of Kiryu, but in Kiwami, he can't walk correctly without Kiryu, and he become mad, Nishiki die in Kiwami
