    There are other recipes on the web that take 15 min, but they require constant monitoring and stirring. This recipe was super easy - "set it and forget it"!!! Loved it. Thanks Poonam and Sahana ;)

    Is it the same setting if I want to put 2 lbs in the instant pot? I love your easy recipe If your daughter can make it, there is no reason why I couldn’t!!! Thank you 🙏

    This was so easy and economical! I couldn't find a micro filter tonight so I bought an herb ball for a couple bucks at TJ Maxx, which worked pretty good. No Indian stores in these parts so I'll have to order one online later. Thank you for the video and letting your adorable daughter help out ☺

      Just cut a piece of cheese cloth and fold it in two then put it in a fine mesh strainer.

    Thanks Poonam...this is awesome! Can you make more or less in a batch and if so, would you change the time setting or it remains the same as in the food?

      Rupa Ghodasara Hi! You can do 2 or 3 pounds of butter in the same amount of cooking time. Thanks for tuning in!

    Other people talk about putting Ghee in the pantry because it is supposed to be shelf stable. Does yours not cook enough like this to sit on a shelf.

    i have been making ghee for years and it always smells delicious especially towards the end it's like buttery and nutty. Use Trader Joes or Kerry gold butter, Land o lakes is full growth hormones.

    • @TaylorRose981
      @TaylorRose981 2 роки тому

      Land o Lakes butter is not full of growth hormones. If you're really worried about it, don't eat any animal products fool. A cow is a being that has hormones, just like you.

    This looks like clarified butter, as opposed to ghee, because it's not carmelized. You basically melted the butter, and separated the milk fats. My understanding is the difference between clarified butter and ghee is the carmelization of the milk solids on the bottom of the pan, turning the butter a nice deeper gold color (or tan-ish) and resulting in ghee.

    • @naseerahvj
      @naseerahvj 7 років тому +3

      Shirley Pena there are different types of ghee

    • @rohitp3351
      @rohitp3351 6 років тому +3

      Ghee technically is from cultured butter, never salted or from normal butter. Also the white should be brown so as to bring the typical nutty flavor in the ghee.

    • @xoks4070
      @xoks4070 6 років тому +3

      Shirley Pena clarified butter is ghee. You take out the milk solids which make butter go bad faster. Browning ghee is just another step.

    I have found that if you don't have a strainer that will strain as well as the one Poonam is using, a piece of cheese cloth folded in half in a strainer works well.

    made it for the first time using these directions but I have a 0.5 cm white sediment line at the bottom, ostensibly what I was hoping to filter. Anyone have suggestions... I used the finest strainer I could find with cheese clothe folding by 4.

    If I wanted to split the recipe in half using only two sticks of butter, would the timing and settings be the same regardless?

    • @InstapottinWithPoonam
      @InstapottinWithPoonam  6 років тому

      +Shivali Dave You may be okay reducing the time by 30 minutes. If you feel like it's not completely clarified, you can always add the extra time back on at the end.

    Can we cover with any lid or instant pot lid ?

    • @InstapottinWithPoonam
      @InstapottinWithPoonam  6 років тому +2

      You do not want to use the Instant Pot lid because the ghee will boil and splatter. You have to allow air to flow.

    Would this method be good for making Ethiopian niter kibbeh in an Instant Pot?

      Unfortunately we are not familiar with niter kibbeh..

    • @Jerry-rf8bn
      @Jerry-rf8bn 5 років тому

      @@InstapottinWithPoonam Niter Kibbeh is clarified spiced butter which is made by adding various spices (up to a dozen or more) to melted butter and cooked until the spices release their flavor and aroma. I am not Ethiopian but, I found the recipe in an old cookbook featuring various international cuisines. I use niter kibbeh in several dishes which call for clarified butter and it really adds a whole new dimension to various dishes.

    Can you make Ghee with margarine or does it work only with butter?

    • @InstapottinWithPoonam

      +Carrie Johnson As far as I know, it only works with butter.

    • @monikasherwood9089
      @monikasherwood9089 6 років тому +2

      Why on earth would you use margarine?

    • @carriejohnson9816
      @carriejohnson9816 6 років тому +3

      I was just asking cause I have never made it before, and really didn't know much about it and wanted to know if margarine could be used or if butter was the only thing to use to make ghee.. I know now that butter is the only thing that can make ghee and not margarine.

    • @zman4791
      @zman4791 6 років тому +2

      Carrie Johnson Butter only. Should be unsalted. Any unsalted butter will work fine. Kerrygold is the best butter I can find at any store.

    I saw other people pouring the ghee with a big spoon..,it takes a little more time but they didn’t have the bottom part in the jar…which to my opinion a lot better….and poor little girl ..the process if too much delicate for her i would say that when she will be two or three years older it would be better..,
