What a start to the season from Australia! Who impressed you the most in Bermuda? 🤔

    • @kkeelty64
      @kkeelty64 2 роки тому +2

CAN. To come to their first event and make it to the final race is very impressive.
AUS was very impressive as well - seems like they haven't lost a beat since the S2 final.
Where was JPN? Are they coming to Chicago?

Australia definitely were impressive to pull off another win, and it’s great to see NZ and France up in front, but Canada were definitely the standout team as newcomers making the final.
It looks like everyone is much stronger than they were a year ago and this season will be very competitive!

Definitely Canada! Super impressed with Australia considering Day 1 wasn't their best outing, so to get the win in Race 5 to secure their place in the final was a Masterclass, then to just dominate in the Final, was just unbelievable! Tom and his crew brought their A game at the right time in Day 2 that's for sure!

@@zoepaulastrassfield2664 Nearly every boat was within a few seconds of the line at the start. EVERYONE has upped their timing and distance game. Very competitive.

    Spanish team rules:
    - always start super fast
    - always lose a good amount of positions in the first leg
    - always choose the opposite side of everybody else 😂❤

After reading some of the comments, I would like to add. Some months ago the top speed for a foiling boat was achieved in the Med at 105 kmph. Incredible to watch. But you wouldn't want to fall off at that speed !
Image, cross the Atlantic in two days with no fuel !

70 k.p.h.? That's an insane speed on a sail craft, almost twice as fast as a Hobie 16 which is already pretty fast when you're on one at full speed. I'd like to see one of these boats out of the water, or should I say more out of the water?
They look interesting and are obviously a lot bigger than they look here which is probably why they look slower than they actually travel.

As an ethnic Dane living just outside of San Francisco where Oracle is located, I’m glad I finally have a REAL reason to watch these races. Sure I am a sailor, and like the competition, but now I have ethnic interests involved! I don’t care if they win, I just want to see the progress. My team 🥰

@@dixondavies Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I think however that any "highlights" package should cover the critical moments in a race - wind shifts, big gains or losses, good or poor strategic decisions, etc - which do not necessarily occur at the marks (though of course, the tactics at mark roundings can be critical too)

@@BlueSoulTiger I watched both videos. But then I'm retired. The most interesting parts were when a team chose the opposite side, a gamble which sometimes paid off but mostly didn't.
I did skip a lot of the before and after talk. But saw all of the actual races.
I still sail and occasionally race. I'm in my eighties.

@@dixondavies Well done you! Sailboat racing is a great sport. For a fair appreciation, watching the entire race is the way to go - a luxury I cannot afford. Opposite sides suggests lighter winds or oscillating shifts, and the hunt for clear air. The punditry is often not insightful unfort. Lovely to meet you.
