I think Mattise had a good point. When I look at the england squad I see some players who on their day can be match winners, but I don't really see players who have done it in the most important cup games or been the main stars of their title winning team. Maybe Trent or stones based on last season. Even foden and jack who have won with city were never the absolutely crucial type of players like Bernardo and kdb for city. Bellingham if Madrid win the league or cl can be the biggest difference to this England's euro success because he will be the clutch factor they need

England midfield is only Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, James Maddison, Jordan Henderson, Kalvin Phillips even Phil Foden can't start yet he has been sensational for Man City, JWP never gets called up, Loftus Cheek he too never gets called up yet he plays well for AC Milan, TAA can play in midfield but oh he can't defend. This is the same England that got relegated in the UEFA nations group last year losing to Hungary twice, drawing with Germany and never scored a goal yet they had Harry Kane, Saka, Sterling 🤨🤨 and even in the WC last year they struggled against the USA and got absolutely rinsed by Les Bleus in the QF. England aren't favourites to win the Euros next year and that is the truth that most English fans don't want to hear in the last Euros of 2016 they got knocked out by Iceland, 2018 WC got knocked out by Croatia in the semi finals where they bottled the lead and same scenario against Italy in the final, Gareth Southgate only calls his favourites not players who have had a massive impact on their clubs or on form, if they can't beat Malta and North Macedonia what makes you think they will be in the finals? Gareth Southgate waits for individual brilliance to win a game and park the bus and not scoring more goals against their opponents, look I support France and they play well and don't rely on one individual to score their goals everyone scores for France from Theo Hernandez, Tchouameni, Griezmann, Coman, Thuram, Nkunku, Mbappe, Kolo Muani, Jonathan Clauss, Giroud, Upamecano, Saliba etc because they play as a team even when they conceade a goal they still continue to attack just like Spain, Portugal, Netherlands do. All in all English fans that is the truth Yes you have the talented players but that isn't enough because you have an average manager who can't take you anywhere. I’m ngl I think it’s a better squad, in a combined 11 I’d give us at least 6 players, Kane, Bellingham, Saka, rice, and Walker stones, and we have so much quality that doesn’t even start or get in the squad like maddison Trent Reece James, Sterling, Gordon, Watkins, Toney, Rashford (all be it not right now), foden etc etc etc
Southgate should get out, regardless of how england perform. This squad deserves a capable manager.

use Trent like Ancelotti use Pirlo. But unfortunately Gareth Southgate is not at the same level of Ancelotti, let alone Benedetti (Serie D club manager).
England team selected by panel looks good. That said, I would play Jude on left of central midfield and have Trent opposite, then switch out Sterling for Foden. Reckon both Jude and Trent could take turns and tuck in with Rice and allow the other to push up as a 10. On occasion both could push up too. We have a good chance of doing well.

Brazil never used to abuse pace, Germany did not even have that much pace, Spain had some pace but that was not their ethos. In international level, you need strong IQ to succeed, not just raw pace.

I’m having Maddison in that team over Trent and Foden. They both aren’t natural midfielders and they both haven’t been consistent at playing good there. For me Maddison is like having a odegaard modric type of player in the team (not saying either are as good as modric so calm down). I prefer having that balance over Trent and Foden. Can’t keep tryna push them two in just because they can’t start in their actual positions. Actual midfielders shouldn’t have to be punished for that. Even Bowen over rashford I’m taking rn.

Every national teams have rivalries and egos. I am sure when the Juventus, Milan and Inter players of Italian nationalities gather up, there are rivalries and egos involved. But when they stand for the national anthem, they put all of that aside for the country. They play for the country. And thats not just the players, but the fans as well. Even in Spain that was the case. In England they dont do that. The fans are divided and the players are also divided, although it has improved in recent times within the players.
