    Thank you for voicing what is so often true. I too was accused of filling a space formed by affirmative action. To those negating your feelings what a positively horrible space you must occupy to try to steal her story and journey and make it out to be your burden.

    This is an inspiring talk about a woman's POSITIVE experience in undergrad with a university that supported her, thus creating a relationship where she in turn supported them. This isn't something that's gonna headline the 6 o'clock news, but it was impactful the way that they chose empathy over offense at her concerns about not being included. This could have, and for some people does, gone a different way. The contrast between that and Kenyona's experience in Law school is stark. "All" she's asking for in the end is for Akron to be a fruit salad where we support EACH OTHER... Thank you for sharing your story with dignity, for your invitation to work together, not further separation. You deserved to stand on that stage, your story deserves to be heard and your words deserve to be understood in the context that they were delivered. This was a powerful speech and I'm glad to have heard your voice in this moment!!!

    Great talk, lovely tone, humour etc. Remember diversity isn’t just about race though. It’s all ‘flavours’ of minority. Disability being the largest and often the last to the fruit salad.

    i hear people say embracing diversity, if thats true then how many of us in the inner city who listen to hip hop and latin music embrace and associate with headbangers , goths , or people who go to rodeos and listen to country music???

    And notice she also didn't lie and say that there are not "affirmative action babies" out there. That is missed by some....

    This is me at my job. I'm the 'diversity/minority' card. However, I have no inclusion at all. I 'm actually having to leave my job because of it. Too bad i wont get to start my 401k because of it.

    10min of my time, i will not get back. This has nothing to with science and is basically a nice story to tell. But it has no point to generalize. Even the typical buzzwords are the same. And it seems quite reasonable to assume, that there are "affirmative action babies".

    Quakers are among the nicest and least-rascist people I have ever seen. They were ALL OVER the place in the Underground Railroad. This person LOOKS for racism - and finds it. I notice she didn't name Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell. Nope - she concentrates on angry people.

      It must be amazing to have such insight that you’re able to determine what her experience has been without living in her shoes... perhaps (and this might be a long shot) perhaps her experience is different than yours?

    • @Jollyprez
      @Jollyprez 4 роки тому +1

      @@RobertWilson-ib6jf It's called "empathy" - the ability to understand another's viewpoint without having to be in the exact same situation. As I said, if you LOOK for something - much less if it's your JOB to look for something - guess what? You'll find it. And, if you're "conscientious" - you'll find lots of it. Think of two people looking at clouds flying overhead. One person sees rabbits and dogs and babies - the other sees rockets and cars and boats - they see what they're prepared to see.
