    I was able to find online that he was released after five years and was eventually given 2.5 million in compensation. He just passed away four days ago at age 71. I feel terrible for what he went through but glad he got some happiness again. The article said he became a contractor after being released from prison and loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.

    This story where the fifth estate helped convict this innocent man then realised they were wrong and did this video is a demonstration in why media should NEVER attempt to assign nor suggest guilt for anyone, ever.
    This story is also a demonstration of the devastating effects the dunning-kruger effect can have when an underskilled individual has too much power. Sargent Olford acquired a little information, not enough to really know what he was doing but plenty to be dangerous with it.
    An innocent man was sent to jail as a result of both these factors. Media should stay out of the game of assigning guilt. Police should be prevented from allowing unpracticed, newly acquired skills from leading investigations.

    People should know that the original Fifth Estate story (1993) on this case helped get him convicted, helped get the police to investigate him again. The Fifth Estate, in 1993 "Getting Away With Murder", wanted the case reopened and argued for it.

    I don't understand any of this. If he had battered his wife , why is there no analysis of his clothes, and I've seen stories when luminol was used years after the fact and still showed at least most of the blood staining. I'm disappointed in the reporters in this case, not to mention the coroner and the prosecutor. And the scene was not secured, which has been protocol for most police agencies for a long time I believe. Forensics has come along way, but its not new. Swabs photos collecting of clothes kept as evidence has help tremendously in closing cold cases . I'm going to watch it again maybe I've missed something. I didn't hear ANYBODY asking the right people the right questions. He should be granted a new trial for his incompetent counsel. And an evidential hearing to see if there's enough good evidence to proceed with a new trial.

    @steveenglund9833 5 років тому +1

    Yup, watched it again, I stand by my previous comment and now add that eyewitness accounts changed after he moved a new woman into their beloved friends home too soon to suit them. They would have hung him just for that, God knows they tried. And why wasn't any previous abused not investigated BY ANYONE! Abuse escalates to murder so if there was history you might be swayed that he possibly could have. Neighbors described him as lovable, Teddy bear but would cross the street so as not to face him and his new wife. I'm surprised they didn't make up abuse history to accompany their other B.S. to get the noose around his neck. Again I'll reiterate there's talk about blood spatter in the basement WHY IS NO ONE ASKING ABOUT HIS CLOTHES? In 1989 DNA was just coming on the scene They had presumptive test for human blood and blood grouping tests yet in 1991 NO ONE has ask WHERE IS HIS CLOTHES! that one question if answered could have put this away. I'm terribly disappointed in the system and in the reporters. Blood on his clothes even without forensics would be damming . with that I was going to stop then I thought...…. the investigators were in the basement did they search the rest of the house. My limited contact law enforcement has shown me the are nosey buggers and you can usually tell when they are lying...…. their lips are moving With that I'll quit Thanks to anyone that takes time to read my ramblings

    Anything and everything for promotion. Anything and everything just to close a case. Every thing and anything by authorities just for advantages, benefits and fame. Those responsible to on purpose mess with evidence, witnesses, etc... should be put in prison. Same as bought witnesses and witnesses that lie out of envy and hate.

    i don't know why suicide(other than of course it being an accident as it could of been)was never considered an option here............... it quite frankly staggers me.........................i think suicide is a real possibility i.e she intentionally throw herself a particularly long way down a particularly long flight of stairs over a growing personal problem after all people throw themselves off tall buildings to kill themselves maybe she suspected or had evidence he was having an affair and rather than ever want to face(what is a particularly large man as he is)decided the best way to get back at him over it and get him"into serious trouble"(at the same time as ending her own life i.e killing herself)was to do this and make it look like an attack carried out by him to harm or murder her......i really believe this is what happened or an accident i don't believe he killed her..............i really don't..............

    An individuals story and memory will change simply due to the way our minds are. Traumatic emotionally charged events become worse because of exactly what the event was....an EMOTIONALLY TRAUMATIC EVENT. you unconsciously start remembering it as more horrifying dramatic memory simply due to or unconscious mind. If you are able to get counseling and do a bit of journaling through those events then it isnt such a huge change in remembering. Problem was these people hadnt had that and were unknowingly being brainwashed into remembering things in a manner that served someone else’s purposes. Cop wanted his 15min of being a hero and fame, he got it. First story wanted to make a difference and find justice through someones personal manipulations. Many people have to live with what happened and the damage created in so many lives.... JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED. DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE DONE ONTO YOU. MORE PEOPLE SHOULD REMEMBER THOSE WORDS....

    Clayton Johnson fooled everyone but me - when a person runs up the steps and trips - that person's body will continue moving forward due do the kinetic energy - meaning it is impossible to be forced down the steps when your running up the steps because their is no energy source to do that and is not logical. That woman was pushed down the steps with tremulous force by Clayton Johnson and then he went to work to create some alibi. And also Clayton Johnson turned on the tears for Jurors - that means he is hiding something - he don't fool me.

      Realsuede But there is a source to do that, gravity. If the front of her foot had slipped indeed she would have fallen forward, however if her heal were to get caught on the edge of a step her center of gravity would shift backwards and she would go into a free fall down the steps, because of gravity. I broke 2 vertebrae in that same way going up the steps to the Colombian national archive in Bogota in the rain, and I also fell backwards even though I was going up the steps.

      scoopsmagoo years of experience? What? He is saying that he had that happen to him, and he was hurt and hurt bad. He’s saying it’s possible and he’s proof, that is still alive to speak the truth of it being a possibility. You’re just mad that your theory has holes poked through it. Just like the murder case against this man who, got out of prison in fives years and won 2.5 million dollars for a wrongful conviction. Just admit you’re wrong or don’t reply. You are making yourself look like a fool, speaking on something and then being proven wrong and still sticking to what has been proven wrong. You know the sky is blue, right? Or is it just the reflection of the sun and our eyes playing tricks on us?

    THIS IS A GOOD CASE, TO SHOW PPL, THAT WHAT OTHER PPL DO IN THEIR IN PRIVATE LIFE, WHO THEY MARRY, IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. THIS IS EVIL, USED AGAINST THIS MAN BY THE POLICE. THIS COP SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN A COP. AND IF YOU WERE ANY TYPE OF A REAL PERSON YOU WOULD QUIT, BEFORE YOU KILL SOMEONE AS YOU ALMOST KILLED THIS MAN. THESE EVIL PPL WILL NEVER, TELL THE TRUTH.

    The Corporal GROSSLY overstepped the bounds of decency. He wanted a chance to preen, prance and flash around his marvy new course credentials. And he got other people to lie and "embellish" their statements. He made the witnesses feel important, IF they would only go along with what he wanted them to say. He needed a sensational case to work on , to show his superiors what a great cop he was. Clayton and his daughters were to be sacrificed for his career.

    In the really old days, it was normal for a husband with children to marry the nanny after wife passed, It was common practice, and not long after the wife's death, you can't pay enough for being locked up, especially the strip searches&other inmates
