That animation was beautiful! Only criticism is that at the beginning I found it a little hard to tell who was who and what they were saying. But oh my god that animation was stunning. The part with the sand was my favourite. Amazing video, keep it up!
yeah the fight was cool, but can we talk about the backwards somersault into the sand in the eyes. This was insane, ive been trying to figure out how to do a somersault and it never dawned on me to take the legs out the body! Fantastic, i know you were on crunch time when you made this but it came out amazing!
Oh dang, he back with some amazing animation as expected. Well done, man. But I don't need to say that a lot since you already have done a good job, keep up the good work!
Bro I can’t lie code man in my opinion is the best animator on UA-cam. I’m terms of just absolute bangers and crazy clean movements no one really comes close!
When I first saw a clip from your video in the Brickfilm Day trailer, I knew it would be insanely good. I have to say it was even better than I expected! Love your unique style!
You truly are the master of 8-12 fps, and this is a shining example of your expertise in not only animation but filmmaking as well! The choreography and pacing of the fight was fantastic in that either side could win, I loved the details like the sand throw to the face and the sword getting stuck in the tree. I know how hard you worked to meet the deadline, and it turned out great!
WHAT THE JUNK this is so stinking GOOOOD!!! the movements are all nailed down to perfection like 1:15 HOLY COW! I felt those punches and the subtle motion blur really adds to it! Outstanding job! You should really look into an animation career
everything was perfect, the fight, the action, the suspense, and the camera work, iv been subscribed for a while, and i am very glad I found your channel, keep making this amazing work.
Of course the animation is great, but the shot choices are another amazing aspect of this fight! And the way you linger on a shot just long enough for the viewer to read what’s going on without it being too long is magnificent.
NOO I Wanted the captain to win! Anyways I enjoyed every second of seeing your animation play on my screen, your unique fight style coupled with greate camera movements and great and creative choreography. Loved it
Thank you. It's funny how this comment sheds a light on two of the video's shortcomings. The CAPTAIN did win, but I didn't do a great job of distinguishing who was who. I also made the mistake of focusing too much on the first mate in the intro, which subconsciously tells the audience to root for him, not what I intended.
@Max’s LEGO StopMotion Yeah, I should have made it extra clear, because he was meant to be more of a fresh-faced captain, so the first mate has a point
@@CodeManLEGO got it dude, no worries for next time you wont have a small issue like this one. Still the animation itseflt is great and the way I understood the film is still an interpretation which doesnt degrade the film.
Incredible work, one of the best videos I've seen in a while. The animations themselves are smooth and gorgeous, the choreography felt like something right out of a high budget movie. You do a really good job I think at balancing exceptional action with enough brief pauses to like, give the audience time to breathe, and I really appreciate how it wasn't just swinging swords the entire time there was so much variety in how the characters attacked and defended. I also want to gush about how amazing the camera work was but this comment is getting too long so I'll just say again that this looked amazing.
I'm always amazed by how well you do action scenes. My only criticism is that I couldn't really understand what they were saying at the beginning. Also really nice touch with the throwing dust (or sand) into the other guys face. I don't remember seeing that in a brickfilm before.
Wow, that fight scene was visceral! The motion was great, loved the touches like blood, thrown sand and the waves. Only thing holding it back is the dialogue was a bit confusing and the voices didn't necessarily quite fit the lines. With a bit of work on script and you'd be a true master of the craft. Edit: That's nothing against the voice acting btw. That was very well done for the grunts and screams over the fighr. The sound design really helped sell the brutality.
Yeah, it's bad. If you're still curious: First mate is the one with the beard, captain is the one who wins. *First mate:* "How far down be it? Ye certain it be here?" *Captain:* "Do ye doubt your captain?" *First mate:* "Aha, over here. Thar she be." *Captain:* "Thar 'tis. I shan't have this doubt from my first mate." *First mate:* "Sorry, captain." *Captain:* "This will be plenty of gold for the crew." *First mate:* "Hmm.. that might turn them 'round. They've grown to dislike ye" *Captain:* "Codswallop!" *First mate:* "And I agree with them.."
Just wondering where did you get the sound effects and just your sound effects in general? Also did you cut on of the guys hair pieces to fit under the hat?
I don't remember where I got my punches from, it was some YT video with a drive download. There here if you want them: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dlIKk4tA5oKfFdOPnuJg4KoOUuBq-htC (The IMPT ones are deffaning static in my phone editor, but they're fine everywhere else) The sword sound effects were mostly just taken from the first few results of "sword sound effects" on UA-cam. I'm not crazy about them but their fine. Pretty much everything else was recorded by me.. excluding the ambient tracks included in the Power Director app. This video doesn't have a lot of sound design, really. Also, yes, I customized quite a few things for this video. Mostly painting but I spent a good 4hrs filing down an Emmet hair piece to have something to cover his alt face. (I thought the bandanna would cover the first mate's alternate face but I had to just paint over that in a dark color-- luckily the acrylic paint I used rubs off so I could film the intro with his neutral face)
@@CodeManLEGO Great thank you so much! Good sound effects are the hardest thing for me to find so this’ll help a lot. Also that’s a lot of time to file down one hair piece 😂
Just rewatched this. I still can’t believe how insanely good this is
I love your style, and I can tell you spend a lot of time on your films! It really shows.

@@CodeManLEGO Oh, now that is the way to do it! I was wondering how it looked so good until I brke it down frame by frame to see the out of socket!
Animation is top shelf. Bravo
This was very well done! It's always impressive seeing Brickfilmers use LEGO arms out-of-socket!
Wow when the captain screamed when he got sand in his eye was so real
This is awesome really good job very smooth animation lovely lighting!
dude, this is insanely good. (I really like the sand part)
That is everything I expected. I particularly liked the roll onto the beach toward the end. Great job :)
Yooo that went too hard! Love the setting and the sword fight was amazing
This is possibly one of the most realistic and amazing fight scenes I've ever seen, good work. 11/10
That sound design tho!! Loved it.
