Since it's a budget build go with 16GB. If you went with 12600K, 13600K and up, 32GB would be mandatory. In most cases 16GB is enough. Other scenario would be to open Steam, keep Chrome open with multiple tabs, antivirus, discord and then play Hogwarts Legacy. 20-25GB easily. The choice for me is obvious. I will take the 10% FPS hit.
RAM is more tough. 16GB, or 32GB for exactly double the price?
Since it's a budget build go with 16GB. If you went with 12600K, 13600K and up, 32GB would be mandatory. In most cases 16GB is enough. Other scenario would be to open Steam, keep Chrome open with multiple tabs, antivirus, discord and then play Hogwarts Legacy. 20-25GB easily. There are couple of other games that go over 16GB. i3 is for light gaming/social media and for that 16GB is enough. For i5 I would go with 32GB.
In Flight Simulator the demand for CPU is higher in the cockpit. Anyway thanks for bringing benchs on FS2020

Yes, you can normally do an CPU upgrade but sometimes you'll get better results if you reinstall the OS.
Usually, This isn't an issue with in-socket upgrades, but it can be. However with motherboard/CPU swaps, small performance issues often arise if the O.S. hasn't been reinstalled. Most people will never notice because they will still see a performance increase.

With those games you'll be happy with 6 cores. Although if you play cod multiplayer even more cpu will smooth out a lot of micro-stuttering that can happen with 6 cores in big multiplayer games like this. I can't really speak on productivity like photoshop, but generally speaking more is better. There aren't really any good value 8 core cpu's available atm.
