An alternative I've used is attaching the belt to a landmine set up instead of a kettlebell to do belt squats. This allows me more options with loading.
Similarly I used to use a loading pin to hold the plates while I stood on platforms, but that might require a little creativity on what to stand on depending on your environment.
Same goes for Barbell Bench Press. *To protect the shoulders, every few training blocks swith to Barbell Floor Presses and/or Neutral Grip DB Presses!* 🙌🏼
Sam, few weeks back I bought the eliteFTS dip belt for this exact purpose. I’ll set a dumbbell on its end, adjust the chain enough to get a good deep squat w/o the db touching the floor. Setting up is a little awkward at first but it gets easier. Fry’s my legs like big time. I’d suggest doing a quick edit to show how y’all’s dip belt can be utilized for belt squats. Bam! Training video with product selling! You’re welcome! 😁
The gym I go to (Metroflex Fargo) got one of the EliteFTS belt squats this year and it's one of the best, if not the best, addition they brought in. Belt Squat Marches has been a huge win for me and my previously ruptured L5/S1 disc. Just started doing them 3-4 months ago at the end of my workouts and discovered it significantly reduced lower back pain. Seems to provide some traction/decompression. I use a narrow stance, not a lot of weight (ex. 50-75 pounds in plates) and do three 60 second sets. To be honest, the first time I did them, my low back felt terrible before starting the sets and when I completed the 3 sets, it was like the pain was never there to begin with. It also really fired up my hips/glutes. I think it's safe to say they have helped lower back health, recovery, and allowed me to continue to train hard. in fact I just hit my best ever deadlift of 500# @ 52yrs old.
Their r a # of squats to choose from and like you said, the belt squat is a great tool to utilize for warmup, for development and a safer option instead of a back squat it’s versatile too; I love to squat for development but I don’t have access to a belt squat, I wish I would/could and it would/will be a game changer.
I’ve done both. And I much more prefer loading my weighted belt on boxes over the machine. If they came up with a better way to get into the belt on the machine, then it would be perfect.
I buld mine as a T shaped metal with a metal plate on the end and a carabiner in the middle. i hook a short steelwire through the carabinet to my low pull and the base of the T touches where the low cable comes out.
I have a barbell but I mix back squats (only just restarted after long term injury) with front squats, plate held front squats and fortunately a weight vest.
My new gym has a hack squat that's also built to be a reverse hack squat, you lean into the backrest with your head and shoulders sit under the shoulder pads The movement is very similar but theres no balance to worry about, I'm finding it a good way to build leg and hip strength without getting too tired from doing the real thing
awesome video, especially the recommended alternatives. guys please work on getting more equipment or all equipment that is available in the us also available in the uk for the europe customers like me. the shipping costs from the us are insane. thank you very much
I bought a belt squat belt and I use some pallets 😂. It’s the only way while covid is going on. I find good mornings with all different stance did wonders for my squat. I don’t have problems with my low back at all.
I used a belt squat once and for whatever reason it fucked my knees up. Ive had to soend so much time doing other shit to get my knees to feel comofrtable again. I've talked to a few other people that have told me the same thing. With that said a ton of people love the belt squat and it makes sense
The center of gravity changes significantly between a barbell squat and a belt squat. If you are low bar squatting and keeping the barbell over your midfoot, your hips are free to sit back, causing less knee angle. On a belt squat, standing with the cable midfoot pulls your hips forward, causing more knee travel. If you try the belt squat again, try pushing the hips back against the pull of the cable.
I agree with the things you say..... but a lot of the equipment I've seen on your channel and other workout channels displaying equipment for working out body parts... we do not have access to. it would be great but I ask please provide alternatives.
If I had a dollar every time I’ve stood up on my westside ATP only to immediately bang the sled into the safety I’d be a millionaire. You’re not alone Sam! Haha. Thanks as always guys!
It's funny that I tried the seated belt box squats a year ago, but couldn't do it properly due to it crush my balls lol. Nice to know I was onto something at least 💯
Having a belt squat or access to one would be a dream come true!
The dream home gym equipment piece!
Belt+loading pin+standing on some boxes...
He showed you. Are you some kind of simpleton? 😛😛😛
@@3000-z7p it's not quite the same though Is it
Forsure. Not many gyms and not many people have that kind of money

that's really smart gonna have to give that a try

My wife and I are actually heading to try one of these out tomorrow, thanks you for thinking about us !!💪
Belt squats are my go to. They’re a cheat code. My favorite way is with a loading pin and plyo boxes
A belt squat machine is a tad beyond my home gym budget, a diy version I can do though 👍🏾 will be checking out that article mention too

We bought the elitefts tiger belt squat… fantastic piece… can’t say enough good things.

That is an amazing piece of equipment!
3:43. “Your gonna squat Nope Just Kidding” ; nice one sam rookie move😄
Underutilized? Who tf has access to a belt squat machine and doesnt use it 😂
Ur mom
So you are replacing a compressive load with a shear load. Right.

Does back bending not matter as much on a belt squat because of the lack of pressure on your spine?

Think my next equipment purchase with you guys will be that core blaster squat attachment. Been eyeing that for a while

The tutorial for hooking up the belt also doubles as optimal teabagging technique
Would love to have a belt squat! Had one years ago and it was great for growth!
Never even seen that shit and I've been a member of 5 local gyms and 3 franchise
Sam, what are you thoughts on the Elitefts land mine attachment for belt squats? I was hoping you would show that as I’m think of getting one

Yup hurt my lower back squatting 1 week ago. Thought i was better and could do light barbell squat. Now im fully hurt. So disappointed.
welcome to the snapped up club
Coach says leg press, I hear belt squat.
i found out belt squat does nothing for my barbell squat infact it was getting weaker the bar was felling heavier.
ive never been to a gym thats had a belt squat
Sick around till the end to see one way to implement them with out a machine!
@@eliteftsofficial yeah I just saw that thank you, i do have two benches in my garage gym i'll give it a shot! thank you!
It's wildly underutilized because of the cost.
Wish my gym had one. Or a SSB.
Ssb is a life saver for me.
The hell is a SSB?

I have a love hate relationship with belt squatting.
It's still kinda hard on the low back.. It is amazing though my gym recently got one
