So many helpful tips, I was taking notes! I just started in the OR and have fallen in love with anesthesia, so I've decided to go ahead and begin the research process for becoming a CRNA :) thanks again!!!

Hi, I love your insight and encouraging energy. I’m a second career future nurse. I am taking my last nursing prerequisite this Fall and hopefully I’ll get accepted into my local ADN program in Fall 2022. Then from there I will enroll in a RN-BSN program. By the time I do all of that and get 2 years of ICU experience, I will be around 38. Do you think that’s to old to start CRNA school?

Good luck in your journey! I'm 39 so I'm a little biased but I don't think there's a specific age that's too old. You're going to age whether or not you're in CRNA school so why not? For me, I'll enjoy a better life after the next 3 years are up than I would working bedside or anything else. I belong to several message boards and I'm not the oldest. There's many people in their 40s who are just applying. I think Medicine is a unique field in that there are more "older" students than probably other professions but Medicine is arguably the most difficult profession.

hey! thank you for this video! i have a question: i just got accepted into a great school that basically gave me a full ride, but the only downside is that they do not have an undergraduate nursing (bsn) program. the closest thing they have is a pre-nursing major, which would be me obtaining a bachelors in pre nursing, and THEN i'd have to do the two yrs of nursing school on top of that, which would take six years instead of four. this institution has other science majors, with the main one kinesiology. kinesiology obviously is different and more broad than nursing due to the fact that it focuses on movements of the entire body. i am able to major in kinesiology with a concentration in allied health, and nursing is under the umbrella of AH. and according to the schools website, getting a major in kinesiology w/a concentration in allied health is good if you want to go into nursing, physical therapy, etc. however, i've also heard from other ppl that getting this type of major would be completely adverse and irrelevant to a career in nursing. another option would be for me to major in biology, and ik in the video u said that there are schools that would accept someone with a biology degree. however, u left a note saying that they still have to be an RN first, which would require them taking an accelerated bsn-rn program, which would add an extra year. i'm honestly stuck rn bc i want to obtain my degree within a four year span and still go on the nurse anesthesia track bc i really love it. but this college is the only one offering me a full ride and i'm trying to save a lot for my future doctorate program, so it would be a financial plus. it also helps that this college is quite prestigious. however, it just sucks that they do not have an undergraduate bsn program and that i have to find all of these loopholes in order to do what i want. what advice would u give kaylana? would u recommend me sticking with this institution or would it be better for me to go to the other schools that have bsn programs, but have offered me significantly less and could potentially cause a financial hole?

I wanted to ask how were you able to get into CRNA school while now still completing chemistry?

I took Chemistry years ago (as part of my BSN requirement). I applied to 4 schools and 2 wanted the course within the last 3-5 years so I enrolled again and submitted the receipt with my application showing I was retaking it. This is not unheard of. The school I got accepted to was okay with my first Chemistry.
