    The Motor you need to get is a 12mm diameter motor. There are a few different ones on the marketplaces. I ordered the one I think will fit. I will share what you need to get as soon as I know it fits. I don't want you wasting your hard-earned money on something I think will work.

      I was kinda hoping Losi used a 130 motor instead of a 030 size motor. There are way more 130 motors available. There are even pretty quick brushed 130 motors if you look into the Tamiya Mini4wd scene. Most likely the 130s will not work….

      @@Cr125stin interesting. I found that the Losi motor has 65T and there is a 55T motor of the same 030 size. I know that the less number of turns (T) the more RPM you get from the motor. Humm.

      @@BillsWorkbench yea what is crazy is most brushed cars use something between 15 turn and 30 turn! 65 turn is definitely more something a crawler would use. I believe the stock 65t Micro-B motor is strait out of an Axial crawler/trail truck. I used to run a 10800kv brushless motor in my original Micro-T ! That’s like a 3.5 turn motor haha

    The worst part about the 030s is the fastener placements. With the weird shape, they have 15mm hight and a 12mm with so the put the mounting points at an angle for along the height to get a larger separation for stability. But that means any brushless motor (spherical) will have to have 1mm to have half the screw thickness + the thread thickness + the side wall.

      Yes that is what I am finding. It's going to take some work to make this thing brushless. But that's the fun, and it's a hobby.

    I will be receiving my Micro Bs today, so I haven't even really gotten the chance to look at it in person yet. I certainly hope that you are able to find a solution to this quandary. For me, i am not sure I would need any extra torque or speed, but the thought of going back to maintaining a brushed motor for peak performance is not relished.
    Please keep us updated if/when you find something that works. I am really excited about the proposition of a brushless setup.
    BTW! I spoke yesterday with Horizon Hobby, and asking about a brushless option, it doesn't look like there will be an official option available; though in fairness the tech did later sort of retract the statement by saying they were neither confirming nor denying that Losi will come out with one. So don't take my comments with TOO much seriousness, because the tech may/may not know what they are talking about.

    • @BillsWorkbench
      @BillsWorkbench  Місяць тому +1

      I am still looking for an excellent brushless solution. I am almost there, just need to get the Pinion figured out. However, the RC world is very different today than it was years ago. It's like everything else it's becoming disposable. Which is unfortunate in may aspects. But with that said, I found a 55T brushed motor that was made for the SCX 24 crawlers that add a bunch of punch to the Micro B, enough that it's noticeable. That motor is inexpensive and not serviceable, but by the time it fails, there will be another upgrade to do or get a replacement of that motor. This is the motor I am talking about: amzn.to/4dARrEB

    • @setdragons
      @setdragons Місяць тому

      You are so right. Things have changed so much within just 10 years or so (how long it has been since I picked up my RC stuff, because of other hobbies).
      Did you replace a brushed with another brushed fir giggles, or were you having issues with the stock motor? As for myself, I am not really concerned about a brushed replacement (short of house brand). I still have some new motors from back in the day when I raced Xmods and Mini-Zs. The Tamiya Plasma Dash motors were the ship back in the day. I am not certain that they would line up, but they are relatively similar sized, and shape as well. And boy do they add some real punch (and top end) to both brands mentioned. Of course I would also jave to play with gearing as well. Have you messed with the spur and/or the pinion yet, or is there not enough room for anything but smaller gears in there?

    What model receiver are you using? I recently switched to a Noble 4 radio. And have been collecting mini RCs. Hobby Plus, FMS, Scx24s. And mostly have done motor and esc swaps to brushless to do away from the esc and receiver all in ones. My goal is to have all of my rigs work with my Noble NB4. Some I haven’t been able to swap cause of the tiny white connectors. Would appreciate the help.

    I’m curious if you can get a beefier brushed motor with more thermal mass. Maybe somehow use a custom heat sink. Then Increase the pinion for a bit more top end speed.

      @@No-rh6zp Regarding using a Kyohso brushless motor, that's probably not going to be possible since the Kyosho motor needs to be supported by a mount at each end due to it not having any screw holes. 1. Make sure that your ST knob on the right of the radio is turned up all the way. That is steering rate.
      2. There is a turnbuckle kit from Losi Performance that may help, you would need to give it a bit of toe in.
      3. There is some space between the end of the servo horn and the frame that I might have enough room to make a 3d printed part to extend the arm. That's a project for this week, while waiting on the motor to arrive.
