Dwayne, I enjoy lawn care for a lot of reasons! I’ve never had a true hobby, so extreme lawn care has met that need and given me something to do outside of my job. It is my escape from the real world and the anxiety that I deal with in it, it helps me to relax and to just be at peace. 2. It fulfills that great sense of accomplishment and job well done that seems to be lacking in a M-F office job. 3. It has allowed me to show my daughter how if you commit to something and put in the proper work, that the results are incredible and worth every moment. 4. It takes me back to my days as a kid when I used to help my dad mow our 5-6 acres of land. I purchased my California Trimmer 2 seasons ago and have loved everything about it. Hey Dwayne the reason for me that I enjoy lawn care as being a transportation supervisor for a food delivery company, is while I'm in the yard cutting and taking care of my bermuda lawn it helps relax my mind and be in my own world for the few hours a week. And I also get the satisfaction of stepping back and admiring all the work I've put in.
I literally tried my grass topper today and then i was like man alot of grass is coming out...and then i get on the computer to see that you put out a video saying "shield extender" lol. you came in clutch today! Hopefully i win. Grass cutting is my therapeutic activity. its so nice seeing a fresh cut.
I love making the lawn look like a work of art. I change my direction each week and add in diagonals also. Trying to keep my lines straight on the longest portions of my lawn!

I have had a lawn maintenance person for 20 years. He is a wonderful person and helps me keep my lawn looking wonderful. However since watching your videos I decided to purchase a california trimmer. I bought a demo version from Jim today and I look forward to using it. I plan to mow my lawn at least twice a week. My lawn maintenance person will use the california trimmer on a Friday. I will use it on other days of the week to keep my lawn trimmed. I love the look of a well maintained yard. I have also setup a scheduled fertilizer and grass treatment schedule to keep my lawn looking green all year.
Just purchased a nearly new Cal. Trimmer 20" after getting my yard sodded with Tif-Tuf Bermuda. I am greatly enjoying your content Dwayne. I researched several reel mower brands before purchasing the CT and Dwayne definitely helped me make up my mind between the McClane and the CT. Thank you Dwayne and California Trimmer.
Just ordered the extender, topper, ribbed roller, lapping kit, drive roller chain adjuster, all new chains, bed knife and clutch belts. She already cuts amazing can't imagine it getting better. Can't wait to see with her in tip-top shape!
Unfortunately I found that if your grass has got away from you as mine did after days of rain, the grass topper would cause the grass to pile up. I wound up just cutting several times to mulch up the clippings.

Something to note, the grass shield extender along with the topper are great as long as you're cutting short grass. I tried the combination after my grass had grown to about 4" due to days of rain. I didn't cut 10' and the grass piled up at the mouth of the topper and catcher. Even after taking the topper off the extender caused the clippings to pile up at the mouth of the catcher. I actually then wound up taking the catcher off and mowing the yard 3-4 times to mulch up the clippings.
Yes, Great point. If you watch my video on my recent Bermuda recovery video where i scalp, i had the same issue. I need to take the catcher off and then pick up the clipping with a rotary mower. I appreciate the comment and the support. 👍🏻
I live in NE Oklahoma and I put down a new Tiffgreen Bermuda grass lawn last summer and it really took off and looks really good. I want to go to the next level with it by going to a reel mower. I really do appreciate the information your share! Thanks 👍
Have always wanted a golf course lawn. Finally got some zoysia last year. Have been obsessed with getting lawn as best it can be since then. I like the video on the grass topper I wish I would have seen it sooner. I bought the grass topper from reel rollers and was very disappointed with it because my California trimmer threw more grass on top of the topper than in the bin. I called reel rollers for a possible solution and they said they had the extension for it so I ordered it. I waited for a month or so to get it in and it never came and they said it isn’t in stock so I got my money back. Good thing I have a neighbor who is a fabricator and he made me on out of galvanized steel and it works great. I wish I could send you a picture I was able to paint it green to match my mower. I have a 25in Cal Trim, I love how it cuts, I enjoy being on the lawn, I forget about everything when I am out there. “Party On!!! I will wear the hat on mowing days!!!

Just really started lawn care for the first time this season due to finally owning my own home. Never knew how much the work put into it would impact the pride felt after it was all said and done. Obviously it’s a continuous battle and not one I have come close to winning to my standards, but it has become completely addicting and just want to get better the further I go along. Great video Dwayne. I’ve now had my California Trimmer for 3 weeks. The cut is night and day compared to a rotary. When the boys were both in college, I realized I needed a hobby. No more football, marching band nor scouting. I decided, why not have the best looking lawn on the block. In addition, we had moved to a new home with bermuda. i never had bermuda before. So Ive learned a lot between proper fertilizer (Andersons) to now using a reel. I am very happy with the results.
It is truly a great hobby with lots of satisfaction!!!! Nothing like converting from rotary to reel 👍🏻. Glad your enjoy the Bermuda and dominating the neighbor. Well done sir!!!

Your spot on when it comes to Scott. I too didn’t buy my cal trimmer from him but he treats me like was his customer all along. Those compliment are the best. Had a lady stop me and ask for my gardener information. She was so sad when i told her i do my own lawn 😂
In the market for a reel mower currently and I’ve watched several of your comparison videos and I thank you for them. Seems you may lean CT > McLane but acknowledge both machines are top notch? 1 comparison I have not seen is comparing a 20” to a 25” of the same unit, so McLane to McLane or CT to CT. Other than the obvious, wider cut you’ll finish faster etc. any other pros / cons? Quality of cut etc? Also compare a 7 blade to a 10 blade, what’s the advantages / disadvantages. Thanks in advance and keep the quality content coming.
The answer to the 7 vs 10 blade is depending on frequency on how often you mow plus hoc. People get hung up on wanting more blades but it’s not always the better option. I would say generally if you plan to mow lower then 3/4 inch than a 10 blade is a good option but isn’t required. Lower cutting heights such as 1/2inch will see more of the benefit as with cutting height to maintain requires mowing much more often. I prefer 7 blade for most people because it’s works great to cut from 1/2 up to 1 inch or even higher when needed. In regards to the cal trimmer the 20 vs 25 inch there is a major difference between the 2. The 25 and 20 don’t share the same drive system and the 25 is not as user friendly as the 20 inch is very much the preferred drive system. I wouldn’t recommend the 25 inch generally especially if you have turns and corners as the 25 doesn’t give the. Ability to throttle the speed and is good or no go. Hope this helps. 👍🏻
I certainly do appreciate the response… would you say waiting for the drum rollers on the catalyst 20” is worth the wait or are the ruts the wheels leave behind on the traditional 20” not that bad? Thanks again.
One other thing, I’ve been working the last few years to slowly get the lawn leveled but slow process, are a few minor ruts and imperfections enough to scalp it bad at 3/4” or so?
The catalyst looks like an awesome machine and maybe worth the wait. California trimmer is a great company but can’t say that the RL20h is not also a great mower. Hope this helps
Yes i recommend the California trimmer over the Mclane especially if you are looking for a new mower. If you are shopping used then you may want to weigh out options based on priced but would still prefer California trimmer based on features. Looking to purchase a reel mower within the next year or so as now that I am retired life has become like a line from a 70's song. I have too much, too much time on my hands and I simply want the best looking lawn in the neighborhood.
Going for a rotary to a reel mower is a great upgrade. When you say you have too much time on your hands, reel mowing is perfect for you. Lol. There are time in the summer you could probably mow every other day based on height of cut. I really appreciate you comment and support in being viewer!!!!
Dwayne, I had scheduled an appointment last Tuesday with Reel Rollers in Buford for a demonstration of the Revolution-26. Very Impressive mower but as I am new to Reel Mowing Lee did not feel that this would be the right mower for me, I am not a big guy and am concerned about mowing with something that weighs more than I do. Lee did recommend that I consider buying a used reel first. Any suggestions as to which mower might be best? I have roughly around 13,330 Square feet of lawn to mow so I am thinking that I would need at least a 25" mower. Parts of my yard are slopped.@@dwaynesworldlawn
You may want to look at other options and may want to buy a used mower just to avoid a huge investment where you are unsure if you want to make the leap. One option also is to go with a smaller mower like a 20 inch and not reel mow the entire but only a section of it. Maybe and area that’s closer to the house or an outline area that makes sense based on your layout. With the remaining portion of your lawn maybe a ride on mower or rotary. Just a thought.

I live in NE Oklahoma and I put down a new Tiffgreen Bermuda grass lawn last summer and it really took off and looks really good. I want to go to the next level with it by going to a reel mower. I really do appreciate the information your share! Thanks 👍

I like the video on the grass topper I wish I would have seen it sooner. I bought the grass topper from reel rollers and was very disappointed with it because my California trimmer threw more grass on top of the topper than in the bin. I called reel rollers for a possible solution and they said they had the extension for it so I ordered it. I waited for a month or so to get it in and it never came and they said it isn’t in stock so I got my money back. Good thing I have a neighbor who is a fabricator and he made me on out of galvanized steel and it works great. I wish I could send you a picture I was able to paint it green to match my mower. I have a 25in Cal Trim, I love how it cuts, I enjoy being on the lawn, I forget about everything when I am out there. “Party On!!! I will wear the hat on mowing days!!!

Just really started lawn care for the first time this season due to finally owning my own home. Never knew how much the work put into it would impact the pride felt after it was all said and done. Obviously it’s a continuous battle and not one I have come close to winning to my standards, but it has become completely addicting and just want to get better the further I go along. Great video Dwayne. I’ve now had my California Trimmer for 3 weeks. The cut is night and day compared to a rotary. When the boys were both in college, I realized I needed a hobby. No more football, marching band nor scouting. I decided, why not have the best looking lawn on the block. In addition, we had moved to a new home with bermuda. i never had bermuda before. So Ive learned a lot between proper fertilizer (Andersons) to now using a reel. I am very happy with the results.
It is truly a great hobby with lots of satisfaction!!!! Nothing like converting from rotary to reel 👍🏻. Glad your enjoy the Bermuda and dominating the neighbor. Well done sir!!!

Yes my first reel mower unfortunately I didn’t know about Scott till the first day I brought it but he was more then helpful when I reached out to him for advice I’ve been dealing with him since! Love your videos been very helpful thought my journey with my Bermuda grass I had the postal man stop me Friday and say man your lawn looks like at golf green my hat size went up a size..😂🤣 keep up the great work and I’ll keep watching

In the market for a reel mower currently and I’ve watched several of your comparison videos and I thank you for them. Seems you may lean CT > McLane but acknowledge both machines are top notch? 1 comparison I have not seen is comparing a 20” to a 25” of the same unit, so McLane to McLane or CT to CT. Other than the obvious, wider cut you’ll finish faster etc. any other pros / cons? Quality of cut etc? Also compare a 7 blade to a 10 blade, what’s the advantages / disadvantages. Thanks in advance and keep the quality content coming.
The answer to the 7 vs 10 blade is depending on frequency on how often you mow plus hoc. People get hung up on wanting more blades but it’s not always the better option. I would say generally if you plan to mow lower then 3/4 inch than a 10 blade is a good option but isn’t required. Lower cutting heights such as 1/2inch will see more of the benefit as with cutting height to maintain requires mowing much more often. I prefer 7 blade for most people because it’s works great to cut from 1/2 up to 1 inch or even higher when needed. In regards to the cal trimmer the 20 vs 25 inch there is a major difference between the 2. The 25 and 20 don’t share the same drive system and the 25 is not as user friendly as the 20 inch is very much the preferred drive system. I wouldn’t recommend the 25 inch generally especially if you have turns and corners as the 25 doesn’t give the. Ability to throttle the speed and is good or no go. Hope this helps. 👍🏻
I certainly do appreciate the response… would you say waiting for the drum rollers on the catalyst 20” is worth the wait or are the ruts the wheels leave behind on the traditional 20” not that bad? Thanks again.
One other thing, I’ve been working the last few years to slowly get the lawn leveled but slow process, are a few minor ruts and imperfections enough to scalp it bad at 3/4” or so?
The catalyst looks like an awesome machine and maybe worth the wait. California trimmer is a great company but can’t say that the RL20h is not also a great mower. Hope this helps

Yes i recommend the California trimmer over the Mclane especially if you are looking for a new mower. If you are shopping used then you may want to weigh out options based on priced but would still prefer California trimmer based on features. Looking to purchase a reel mower within the next year or so as now that I am retired life has become like a line from a 70's song. I have too much, too much time on my hands and I simply want the best looking lawn in the neighborhood.
Going for a rotary to a reel mower is a great upgrade. When you say you have too much time on your hands, reel mowing is perfect for you. Lol. There are time in the summer you could probably mow every other day based on height of cut. I really appreciate you comment and support in being viewer!!!!
Dwayne, I had scheduled an appointment last Tuesday with Reel Rollers in Buford for a demonstration of the Revolution-26. Very Impressive mower but as I am new to Reel Mowing Lee did not feel that this would be the right mower for me,
I am not a big guy and am concerned about mowing with something that weighs more than I do. Lee did recommend that I consider buying a used reel first. Any suggestions as to which mower might be best? I have roughly around 13,330 Square feet of lawn to mow so I am thinking that I would need at least a 25" mower. Parts of my yard are slopped.@@dwaynesworldlawn
You may want to look at other options and may want to buy a used mower just to avoid a huge investment where you are unsure if you want to make the leap. One option also is to go with a smaller mower like a 20 inch and not reel mow the entire but only a section of it. Maybe and area that’s closer to the house or an outline area that makes sense based on your layout. With the remaining portion of your lawn maybe a ride on mower or rotary. Just a thought.
