    at 12:17, i dont think you need to mult to all the pwm destinations. Pretty sure its normalled, so if you put a jack i pwm of osc 1, the rest will also be modulated. Put in 2, 3+4 will be modulated, and in 3, 4 will be modulated. Put at deadpatch in the oscilator next to the one your modulating to brak the normalisation.

      Thanks...makes sense that if the pitch is normalled the PW would be as well. never thought about that!

    At about 20 minutes, when you played the C/F chord, it sounded so good it made me say bad words. Ok, I say bad words a lot, but dude, holy… um, cow.

      Thanks very much. I can't remember that part. I'll have to have a listen. maybe I'll say some bad words too. (but those are usually reserved for my performance skills)

    Again, helpful, inspiring and enjoyable on so many levels - like all the other MATRIARCH tutorial vids from you I had the pleasure to watch.
    This time, let me just point out that some of your chord voicings are real ear candy, imho.
    20:00 ff sounds like more than 4 voices with an implication of actually 5-6 part harmony., while at 36:00 ff the open position chords have that beautiful movement of the inner voices. Also, great idea (and demo at 38:53) to offset the octave on one or more of the VCO's to vary the voicings.
    On top of all that on point and useful technical stuff, you are showing us how to use the Matriarch's paraphonic feature musically to its full potential.
    Very happy to learn so much here. A heartfelt thumbs up!
    P.S.: How I love the "here's where things get a little bit tricky…" after 39 minutes of modular delirium tremens. LOL!

    Great video.. I'll probably watch this like 500 more times .. my matriarch is coming tomorrow.. can I ask you a question? How long did it take you to understand everything on the matriarch?

    • @RobeMusic
      @RobeMusic  Рік тому +1

      Thanks! glad you found the video helpful. That's a tricky question...I'd been working with synths for a very long time before i got the matriarch, so had a pretty good understanding of synthesis and modular routing before i bought it. It can be a very straight forward instrument but there are a lot of "Matriarch specific" things that i have found over time (and that I'm still finding) so to answer your question...I don't think i've mastered it yet....and doubt i will ever truly master it....but you should be able to get up and running pretty quick if you go through the manual....experiment with the patch books that moog has released and keep watching videos. good luck!

    Thanks for another great video. Where can you pick up the passive attenuators that you use in your patches? I can't seem to find them anywhere.

    • @RobeMusic
      @RobeMusic  Рік тому +2

      Hey Karma, the ones i use are called Splix. You can get them from Perfect Circuit in the US, or Moog Audio in Canada....but sure you can find them other places as well. it's also pretty easy to make your own...all you need is a potentiometer and 2 or 3 1/8" jacks. ..might do a video about that...but i think it might be more cost effective to buy splix...they're so cheap.

      @@RobeMusic When using a passive mult, is there any signal loss as you split the signal?
      Thanks for your time. Your videos are excellent!

    • @RobeMusic
      @RobeMusic  Рік тому +3

      HI Robert. theoretically yes...there could be a small amount of signal loss using a passive mult or splitter...but the truth is it is negligible (unless of course you're trying to use a 5 or 6 way mult) The mults built into the matriarch are passive. You'd probably want a buffered mult if you're going to mult a bunch of pitch CV...but again...passive is usually fine. (again unless you're trying to mult to a ton of different destinations...or the pitch CV covers a wide voltage range)
