  • Americans are incurably "spiritual," but this spirituality expresses itself in ways that are incompatible with biblical Christianity. It expresses itself in ways that are essentially Gnostic. The American church has not been immune to the influence of this American Gnosticism. In this message, Dr. Peter Jones compares this private, mystical, and inward religious mentality with the corporate, doctrinal, and visible faith of orthodox Christianity.
This message is from our 2010 West Coast Conference, Christless Christianity: • Christless Christianit...

What are you talking about? Christians tried to attack the United States capitol on Jan 6th to eliminate democracy. You are acting like christianity has something that is worth respecting. It doesn't. It is against human rights. Christians are trying to take over the school system. Christians are trying to take over everything by any means necessary and it is clear that christians have no moral values. Christianity is pure evil. Sorry, but now much more than the time when this speech was given, this is true. I am ashamed to say I once followed the blood god christ, but I now see it more clearly for what it is. Evil.

Which christian doctrine do you suppose Jesus would ascribe to if he came back today? My guess is it would be none. I believe he would chastise all of them like the he did the money changers and start a better one than any concurrently existing. I'm pretty sure he was big on love of god to redeem men of sin however it seems to me most so-called christians today are more into hating other christians and nonchristians alike. The more things change the more they stay the same you know. However that just what a sane person might say.

It was a very good presentation. I wish he would have also encouraged us to pray for all those who are caught up in heretical thinking and practices. Did not the Apostle Paul tell us that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of darkness? We’re not any better than those who have been entrapped by the Enemy to think heretically. What if you and I were also entrapped like them, wouldn’t you want to know if what you believe is true, wouldn’t you want someone to be praying for you to escape the lie? I know I would, and I thank God that someone did pray for me to escape the darkness I was in. It is a spiritual battle, let us not forget this. Let us not think more highly of ourselves than we ought.

    Beware of Michael Heiser books.
    Heiser’s Hermeneutic
The root cause of the issue with Heiser’s theology is his interpretation method, which errs on multiple levels. First, he interprets Scripture in light of pagan literature to interject polytheism into the Bible. As Peter Jones suggested of Gnosticism, “Whenever ‘Christian’ theology looks to pagan polytheism for inspiration-as it is doing now and as it did then-it discovers a titillating variety of reading techniques, without which the Scriptures of the one, true God would be strictly unusable.”2) Indeed, this hermeneutic method reigns supreme in Heiser’s writings. One critic of Heiser has similarly commented, “Heiser has a bad hermeneutical methodology because he has a bad hermeneutic philosophy. This bad philosophy has led him to bad conclusions. There have always been Christians who have tried to come up with some unique and revolutionary interpretations. Heiser is not the first to come up with this notion of a council of gods. You can see this in Gnosticism, and Marcionism, and in other adaptations of basic Christian doctrines. I’m sure he won’t be the last.”3) Heiser responded to Howe’s criticism, stating, “I assume that the Scripture writers were communicating to people intentionally - people that lived in their day and who shared their same worldview. This assumption is in place because I’m sensitive to imposing a foreign worldview on the writers.”4) In other words, he admits his hermeneutics is focused on imposing the pagan worldview on the Biblical authors, even though the Bible itself commanded the Israelites to not enquire into the theology of their pagan neighbors (Deuteronomy 12:29-32), and to destroy any Israelite guilty of doing so (Deuteronomy 13:6-18). One simple example of this is Heiser’s discussion of pagan deities were known to inhabit gardens and mountains which he formulates an entire theology revolving around this concept imported on the Bible.5) However, the Bible condemns this pagan practice as idolatry on “high places” (Leviticus 26:30; Numbers 22:41; 33:52; Deuteronomy 12:2; 33:29; 1 Kings 3:2; 12:31-32; 13:32-33; 15:14; 22:43; 2 Kings 12:3; 14:4; 15:4, 33; 16:4; 17:11, 32; 21:3; 23:5; Psalm 78:58; Jeremiah 7:31; 19:5; 32:25; 48:35) and “groves” (Exodus 34:13; Deuteronomy 7:5; 12:3; Judges 3:7; 1 Kings 14:15; 18:19; 2 Kings 18:4; 23:14; Isaiah 17:8; 27:9) with idols under “every green tree” (Deuteronomy 12:2; 1 Kings 14:23; 2 Kings 16:4; 17:10; Isaiah 57:5; Jeremiah 2:20; 3:6, 13: Ezekiel 6:13). God rebukes this idolatry that Heiser thinks is valid biblical theology, “your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the Lord, which have burned incense upon the mountains,
and blasphemed me upon the hills” (Isaiah 65:7). Where is the logic of building a “biblical theology” by imposing pagan practices which are specifically condemned in the Bible? One of his foolish arguments for allegorizing his mountain opinion is presented in his citing of Psalm 48:1-2, stating, “As anyone who has been to Jerusalem knows, Mount Zion isn’t much of a mountain. It certainly isn’t located in the geographical north-its actually in the southern part of the country.”6) Mount Zion is on the north of the city Zion, also called Jerusalem (2 Chronicles 5:2; Psalm 135:21; 147:12; Isaiah 10:32; 30:19). He contends, “This description would be a familiar one to Israel’s pagan neighbors, particularly at Ugarit. Its actually out of their literature.”7)
Another problem with Heiser’s hermeneutic is he focuses on ambiguous text, plays fast and loose with the Hebrew language whenever he can, and when he cannot twist an interpretation of the existing grammar to fit his presupposition, he becomes the textual critic and changes the text itself or uses a different text to justify his position. Other Christian apologists have complained about Heiser’s handling of the text

What did that mean? Understand the Bible and the Gnostic texts as well, quite well, but what does Miles Rains mean when it says this? Yet for me, redemption is not spiritual redemption for ones spirit does not need redemption. As for the body, it cannot obtain redemption, for it is temporary and will return to dust for which it came. No idea about worldview, but true Gnostic wisdom or Gnosis from within is about as close to truth as one will ever get in the flesh, and should at some point provide ascension of ones spiritual spark.

"kill them all, God will know his own".

And as far as what portions of catholicism these protestant radicals here still espouse, they still push the lie that there were mass numbers of martyred christian in ancient Rome, as if the ascension of christianity were not, in fact, the end of religious freedom in the west until paganism could be recovered in the renaissance (and for a long time afterwards). Just as vain and hateful now as they were then.

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit is what is what the Bible calls a "tri-unity", or the Triune God, or the biblical doctrine of the Trinity: "There are three persons in the Godhead; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one God the same in substance, equal in power and glory." But that's not what Jones is talking about anyway. The binary he is describing has to do with two categories of existence: God and God's creation. They are not one and the same. God is not His creation and His creation is not God.

Grouping all Gnosticism into Hermetic Gnosticism, which is what he has done here, is like talking about all flavors of Christianity (Baptists, Penticostal, Methodists and even the Mormans) and packaging it all into a lecture about "Those Orthodox Catholics." This is intellectually and spiritually dishonest. For example, The Cathars who lived peacefully and actually tried lived what Jesus taught where better Christians than most Judeo-Christians today....Judeo-Christianity is a house divided. Gnosticism is just a word used to describe the collection of denominations that are unknown that belong to the texts found in places like the Nag Hammadi library. Nothing more, nothing less. Any attempt to say otherwise is an attempt at misinforming and brainwashing by conflating the information. It would have been really wonderful if Peter Jones did take the time to make the distinction clear before speaking publicly and openly about it. Instead of hastily misrepresenting the group of texts as though it were one sect of thought.

Second denominations don't exist. The word is schismatics, sect, cult, or para- synagogue.
Third these unknown "denominations" seem to have been well cataloged by Irenaeus and others.

@bigtechtyranny Real Christians believe in theosis: deification through the incarnation of God's divine Logos. As the Father's say God became man to make man God. They believe this God is the creator.
They don't believe that the world was created by an evil emanation of Sophia (Sophia just is the Logos). They don't believe that evil has actual substance or existence either. They aren't dualists.

They promote only one teacher, exclusively, i.e: Witness Lee. They say he was God´s appointed minister of the age, like a "Noah" for today, and that he interpreted the whole Bible accurately and apart from him and his ministry you cannot really understand the Bible.

Interesting... I think he gets some things right, but I'm also a bit skeptical of his attempt to put Everything (bad) under the gnostic label... In my study of it, it seems a bit more niche than that... And a few of his points are contradictory... He links Masonic ideas/practice to this 'new' thing coming out in the 60's? Sorry mate, but Masonic practice/lodges/popularity has been around for a long time and wasn't hiding under the surface until late 20th century... I always heard that its heydey was in the colonial / early America times! Far more out in the open than now - Now it's kind of dead / bygone thing.
So this kind of historical revisionism gives me pause on some of this other claims and assertions... this is cultural-war comfort food for right-leaning, white american protestant evangelicals who drink up this kind of thing, so they don't ever have to self-examine themselves for any heresies or wacky theology, ideology or warped Biblical interpretations - which they/we too have by the spades! - including aspects of a kind of soft, Gnosticism!)

"Split a piece of wood and you will find me..." Oh, bother... Who remembers the movie "Stigmata" that came out in the late 90's I think? The message in that horrendous piece of work was the assertion that this gospel of Thomas (which I don't believe was ever actually named) is a new revelation from God superseding all the rest. The writer of the movie was so intent on making that point that the main character who was to bring this announcement to the masses was given the signs of the stigmata in an attempt to verify her claim. What is SO difficult and frustrating in the ministry today is that we are up against Hollywood that proclaims fiction as if it were fact on the big screen, and in such dramatic ways that it convinces those who just don't know any better, and then we come in on Sunday morning in our suits and try to undo all that the enemy has done to the kids who have just barely managed to show up. So many kids don't WANT to know the truth; that's the attitude that I'm seeing today, and I honestly don't know what to do with that.

These are facts, for me at least. the Gospel of Thomas along with all Gnostic texts I have read hold great truth and have no lies within them. No comment on the movie, nor stigmata. Last there is no ministry, only for one within, directly from Christ and the Father.

It clearly says, let no man come between the Father (God) and us. Yes spiritual beings from his realm have imparted great wisdom to humans in our history, from Christ to Spirits imparting visions to those who wrote them down and are quoted countless times all over the earth. The real truth lies within, not in a building, nor from another, that is belief or faith at best, not truth or gnosis. But I can understand ones frustration regarding this issue. The ignorance stems from this mans lack of understanding about the gnostic text, not because it’s entirely his fault, but because the truth about the texts has yet to be fully understood. The Elohim are a group of gods, and pagan and gnostic ideology is premised on the idea that there is more than one god and many characters in the story
