So excited for your reactions and opinions - and to see if the Cole-effect will hit you too lol! Having finished the season, I am Team Cole for sure - their chemistry, attraction and emotional connection is just unmatched imo.
I also really like how the made this show different. it’s not based on la or nyc really. it’s a small town we don’t normally see show like this besides hallmark movies. or I probably don’t branch out to shows and movies like that. i’m a “city girl” I live in the suburbs of a big city. so I love to see different perspectives.
16:31 he is sweet but he's giving a little needy/lost puppy/codependent. Cole aint given too much either to be fair. First half of the show doesn't give me much to root for.

Also about 16:14 personally I really liked the scene because these boys act like she's on some vacation or something with the way they looked at and talked to her, as if she hadn't lost her entire family and is forced to be there; here she may come of like she didn't understand the situation, but the one that didn't understand the situation was Alex here; she had a family, a life and she is a Howard; she is obviously still grieving and won't act the way normal person would. I think the show overall did a crappy job at portraying Jackie's grieving, my girl didn't cry over it, didn't show how she may try to keep it together and there were no cracks in her smiley personality but this one scene was at least trying. I know this was your first episode with the show :)

i think what Tara was trying to convey is that Jackie is going through so much right now, and now she is dealing with it in a completely new environment and around no one she knows, and her academic goals are already so stressful on their own, and Jackie might end up putting all of her grief and energy into her academics, but that amount of stress is not good for you in the long run TRUST ME😭and besides, Jackie has time, she's only a sophomore
The dialogue was very much cringe throughout the whole series. They tried to force a lot of conversations instead of just letting things happen - omg as I’m typing this you said this lol.
Cole and Jackie are so damn cute together.
And I dislike Alex he just needs to date his best friend

A lot of people who first watch the show are shocked by the number of kids but, there’s actual families out there who have just as many if not more kids 😂so it’s not that much of shocker. Also the “orphaned Annie act” comment by Erin is extremely uncalled for especially when you see their thanksgiving episode and find out about Erin’s background.
It's definitely not as common now to have so many kids, so I get the shock. Parenting is hard and expensive.

As someone whose a die hard team Conrad Fisher for infinity who ships Jackie with Cole, I agree with this 1000%.
Like it's understandable why Cole has this "I don't care" attitude considering that his entire future was ripped away due to his unfortunate injury but Conrad being moody because he's having trouble dealing with his mother dying is so much more of a legitimate reason to be moody.
It honestly bugs me so much how Connie gets treated like shit in season 2 when literally he was just having trouble dealing with the fact his mother was dying/death. Somehow they treated him worse in season 2 when everyone knew what he was going through and why he was sad then last season when no one knew why he was sad and had nothing else to go on besides the fact he's apparently the new him is acting moody, and jerk now until they found out the real reason why. And don't even get me started on belly being so inconsiderate of Conrad's feelings at prom-

the loft scene was a scene with cole not alex in the book also there was way more cole and jackie scenes in the book
Yes the first couple episodes the dialogue is extremely cringey. It’s like what the characters are saying is forced and not naturally how they would talk. The only one who comes off natural is Cole.
I think they went heavy on the exposition in the dialogue to set up the story. But I wish they showed more instead of saying it if that makes sense.
I can’t imagine how Jackie feels with her entire life changing. I think she handles the changes pretty well and I am shocked that she isn’t more emotionally upset.
I think Jackie and Cole have instant chemistry from the beginning. And I think she recognizes that and it kind of scares her a little. Cole challenges her. I love how he calls her New York. It’s so cute.
So she sees Alex then as the safe and kind brother. And she naturally goes to that to avoid any real relationship.
I too was confused at the beginning and thought that some of the kids were adopted and some were biological and I didn’t pick up on it for a few episodes their family dynamic.
I feel like the guidance counselor lacks empathy and doesn’t know how to support her students.
