Thanks for sharing. Very imformative for a beginner like me. I'm looking forward to going.
Thanks so much for the great info!
Went out yesterday morning for the first time at Ocean Shores and caught a number of fish. Bite almost every cast. Thanks for the tips!
Been out lately? Brought in a monster off Cranberry outlet about a quarter mile south in a honey hole, and my cousin brought in 4 and his buddy limited out. Clam neck bait and my waders started leaking bad but it was a great day! Limited on clams in 45 minutes about 3 miles north of lighthouse past oysterville north. Monster clams
LIKED 22 for your cool informative show, good video,
Thank you!!! Great great knowledge for beginners
I went yesterday in Copalis!! Something keep stealing my shrimp away but I couldn’t get it. May I ask what size of hook are you using?
@@leminh7637 At this season, it must be surf perch, let it bite, they usually won't hook on at the first bite, I use size 5 or size 6.
Very good 101! Thank you! The big ones are the best tasting too, unfortunately for them.
Great video. Lots of helpful tips. Which video is your pile perch video? I want to catch some pile perch. 👍
I put the video link in the description :), cannot put in comments since it will be removed by youtube
great video thank you....i live by klipsan beach and have caught a lot of 6 " fish and only one that's a big. what am i doing wrong? have a hi low 3 oz weight and 11" rod.....all your info i'll be trying....i love surf fishing!
Surf perch like structure, find the hole between sandbars, and look for full moon, this weekend will be a good time if the wave is calm.
Hi Bashi, I really appreciate your in depth videos. I wanted to know if you think it is necessary to stand in the surf to fish or can we cast from shore? I am worried about being swept away. Visiting Westport / Grayland this week
Thanks man, cast from shore would be hard but possible at the very low tide. I usually stand in the surf, but don't let the wave come higher than your waist. Be sure to wear the dry suit and the PFD.
@@BashiWAFishing thank you!! Hope to run into you out in the surf one day 👍. Tight lines
过两个月搬去Seattle, 有机会一起钓perch啊。我现在bay area, 这边比较多barred surf perch, retail 比较少。看地图感觉住down town 那边去beach好远,至少也要两个半小时了,感觉没有这边近啊,40分钟就到了
When is it the best time for perch fishing? My family and I are planning a trip during June.
They are bigger in winter, you can get them all year around, in summer you might get a lot small ones
Hey bashi! I'm at Pacific beach...right now. There are like 5 or 6 rows of shallow waves the last two days I've tried to fish. How do I deal with so many rows of waves? I can't wade out far enough to cast behind the waves!
And as for tides? Low? High? End of either tide? I'm so so confused!
Any help would be great! Love and rely on your info!
Slack tide is good, sounds like the beach is too flat, you might want to find a beach which is not that flat.
@@BashiWAFishing I think you're right! The beach here is VERY flat...
Thank you so much Bashi! You're always so prompt with a reply! Tight lines!
I'll add to advice. Between cranberry outlet on the peninsula and south from there, look for pockets of low tide in front and huge waves behind. Wade out to about upper thigh height between first low tide and high, cast over the mid sized waves coming in, feed your line out as you back up till ankle deep and wait for strikes. As the tide comes in just don't go out as far. That hole will fill more with the tide and you can keep fishing it till high tide. I use 4oz weight 15lb line with razor clam necks as bait.
@@joshroussel7035 thank you sir! Sorry for the late reply…I really appreciate your thoughtful and considered feedback! Tight lines and thanks again for the super advice!
How far out do you need to cast to find the right zone?
Depends on how flat the beach is, usually between the first and the second break wave.
Hi, can you recommend one fishing rod for me?
@@BashiWAFishing Thanks, can you help provide a link? SST-C-962ML-CG or SST-S-962ML-CG?
Ugly stick for durability. Don't use a salmon or steelhead rod unless its medium heavy. Many people use steelhead rods designed to throw lighter applications but not quite 3-4 oz like I see happening with people. Sure you can get away with it if you really know what you're doing. I've seen the mistakes from people for decades now. When they break their rods misusing them they are ready to talk bad about the rod itself or try taking it back to the store for warranty. Just get and ugly stick they are available in 9ft lighter action.
Where were you fishing in this video?
@@BashiWAFishing Appreciate it, went yesterday with just getting 4 smaller ones and 6 other type of fish (not sure what they were lol) I heard it was better near the mouth at moclips where it leads to the river but we were there for like 7 hours trying different spots.
What rod were ya using in this video sensei? 😃
@@BashiWAFishing thanks Sensie!! I have a rockaway okuma rod but it’s too heavy to fish all day, I saw a bunch of guys fishing with light rod similar to ya last time I went to ocean shores
@@BashiWAFishing thanks Sensie!! I bought one last weekend but haven’t used it yet
Instead of walking all the way back why not bring or use a small trout net?
The 4th thing I check is the Tidal Coefficient. A lower number means less dirt and algae suspend in the water and better visibility. That is ideal for surf perch to hunt for food.
Very great point, thanks for sharing the information, I will pin this information to the top section
What number tidal coefficient is too much it too little ?
