I made this Star Light Zone remix because Star Light Zone was always one of my favorite themes from Sonic 1, and this was the first song I arranged for this album. It fits the vintage funk style so naturally, it really feels like it was written for this style.
This video features my good friend Richard Rose! You'll remember his awesome sax playing from my "Hey Arnold" cover video.

It's the facial hair.
It because the light is being reflected from sax making his shoulders appear green. He also uses glasses to read the notes because unlike the other instruments he plays he can’t play sax by ear. 🧐

I am *so grateful* for your sax guy. These songs are SO MUCH BETTER with his contribution. I just feel like he seemed a little stiff? Like, was he nervous? I hope he loosens up and gets a little more organic and improvisational
I'm grateful for him too! Rich is one of my oldest friends, we go back to 2nd grade. I gave him way too little prep time for this one; I was pretty much throwing sheet music at him moments before pressing record.

Red Giant VHS with the settings as subtle as I could get them, then boosting the levels back up to compensate for how dark it made it.

Glad I subscribed and ended up checking this out. You definitely nailed a jazzy vibe for sure, loved it. I really hope you do a funk/metal fusion for Marble Garden Act 1 as well, by far my favorite song from Sonic 3. Your cover of Lava Reef Act 1 was absolutely beautiful, and sounded like something you would hear in a Dynasty Warriors game, what with the harmonic guitars and all, it was absolutely perfect. If I knew how to play all the instruments I would so do my own take on it too.

You have done another excellent cover song and video. Please do the "Sky Chase Zone" music from Sonic 2, the "Get Blue Spheres!" Special Stage tune from Sonic 3, or the Robotnik theme from Sonic Spinball.
If you want to consider non-Sonic music, other old-school games (such as the list below) feature great music to cover:
