Glad to see your fit to start the work again Barry, hope it continues to go well without too much weather getting in the way. Your long bit of steel on the van roof made me chuckle, many years ago I transported the 20 foot long aluminium mast home on the roof of my car, a very old (and rusty) Ford Anglia, the roof was never the same again 🤣
Hi Neil. I hope you're keeping well? Thank you for the well wishes, sir. I really appreciate it. I'm so glad I'm able to do a bit more with my arm. It seems to be going from strength to strength 😍😁👌 Yeah, that wasn't my proudest moment, but it was a necessary one🙈😂😂😂 I could just imagine you in your wee Ford Anglia and this BIG mast.🙈😂😂😂 Thank you for your amusing story bud, it fair made me chuckle.😂😂😁👌 Enjoy the rest of your weekend, bud. All the very best.😁
Thanks for another great vlog Barry. I hope the weather goes bet better over the next week or so, to allow you to do more of the outside work on the Lynsey B. 😊😄
Hi Keith, buddy. Thank you for the comment and the hopes of good weather, I certainly need it, as there is lots of work to do before she gets back in the water. Can't wait, though. I've certainly missed the sea and her bounty.🦞🦞🦀🦀😁👌 All the best, bud.😁
Another good workout for your recovering arm Barry. A masterclass in precision measuring and drilling on metal. Some useful bits of information. As always I enjoy looking forward to your blogs so until the next one Stay Safe and Take Care Skipper 👍
Hi Peter. I hope you're well, sir. As always, thank you for your kind comment. We really do appreciate them. 😍😁👌 We are glad that you found some good use out of this vlog. You are so correct. Drilling stainless is no easy task, as is the way it performs when trying to bend it into shape🙈😂😂😂 Until next week, my friend, all the very best.😁
Hi. I'll put that in the viewers' suggestion list I have. And it's definitely something that's been talked about. It's just trying to find the time TBH 🤷♂️🙈😂😂😂😂 But we'll definitely have a bash😁👌 Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. All the very best.😁
at first I thought 25 tubes, but then I reconsidered - 50? It must be a great feeling when you're out on the boat knowing you've taken such good care of it. Thanks!
Hi Val. Oooooo, a good guess. You'll get your answer in this week's vlog.😁👌 I know one thing Val, shes definitely the best sea boat I've ever been on for her size, and I truly think it's all because of the ways she's been built, I know I'm biased, but the weather she can cope with out weighs what I can cope with these days.😂😂😂😁👌 Enjoy the rest of your weekend. You put me onto Sika 291i when you were building the boat - cracking stuff that's stuck things on my own boat. I'm going to guess you used 50 tubes during the build🤣
Hi Buddy. It's the best stuff for this application. It's pricey, but the best stuff usually is.😁👌 Ooooo, that's a good guess, bud. I'll tell all in this week's vlog.😁👌😂😂😂😂 Hope you're healing well. All the best.😁👌
hi Barry always some thing to do but well worth it to protect her havent been able to do any thing on mine yet dam weather still we are going the right way bit more light in the evenings now JB Guernsey
Hi John. Yeah, spring is certainly a slow starter this year, I kinda had a funny feeling, though.🙈😬😬😬 We're the same bud, not going to get much done on the boat this week. Weather, weather, weather, thing is I REALLY need to get back to sea, cash is short.🙈😂😂😂 Enjoy your weekend, bud. I hope you get a start soon. All the best.😁
Gday mate always something to do and 9 out of 10 it costs ,i used that sikaflex on everything on my tub wont use silicon absolute cheap rubbish and terrible to try to get off ,we pay around 30.00 a tube here but its worth it in my eyes . After my last outing i have raised the engine 1 hole and seems to be better at higher speeds now that the cavitation plate is level with the hull ,still have to adjust the trim tab on the engine as it is turning to the right and getting a slight list which is part of not having it in the right spot so ill move it 10mm and see how that goes really its is trial and error until you find a sweet spot where you can let go of the steering and she will maintain a straight course .We are sitting on 4 days of around 40 degrees c here at the moment very unusual for this time of year and 38 days of no rain anyway take care captain .
Hey, my southern brother.😉👍 Yeah, sikaflex is expensive, but like you said, definitely we'll be worth it😍😁👌 I'm glad you're getting your wee tub sorted out. Finding that sweet spot will always be the hardest thing to accomplish. It will just take time and a lot of fettling, but it sounds like you're nearly there, so keep at it skipper.😍😁👌 Hope you don't melt in that heat, I know I would, but redheaded Scots can never take much heat anyway🙈😂😂😂😂 Enjoy the rest of your weekend, bro. All the best😁
Hi Barry, interesting as always. Nice to see the top of the gunnel back to the shooting post getting covered. I asked this many videos ago as I couldn’t understand why you had left it unprotected (not that I know anything). Will you be fitting a new full width piece of SS now you have recycled the narrow strips ? Looking forward to the next video to see your achievements and how pretty the young lady will look. Take Care. Steve.
Hi Steve. Thank you very much indeed for your kind comment, bud. I remember your comment well, on the full piece of stainless 😁👌 I actually never thought that it would get as damaged in such as short space of time, as it did. So I took your comment on board ( and with many others also with the same kind of comment) and decided to do that area better than before. Everyday a school day at sea, and so it is with boat building😂😂😂😁👌 At least we are there now. Enjoy your weekend. All the very best 😁
Thank you, brother. Yeah, that 1 strip took 1 day to prep for fitting, so it's not an easy task🙈😂😂 I used to have a dedicated countersink bit, but doing all the stainless of the boat, it's a bit burnt out🙈😂😂😂 so all I opted on was an 8mm drill bit.🙈😂😂😂😂 It actually made a better job than the dedicated countersink 😂😂😂 Key is slow and steady makes a better job pal😁👌 Keep up the great work with She-kon. Love to you both 😍😁👌

The woods there to start I just need the time, which I'm always chasing 🙈😂😂😂😂 All the very best bud. Enjoy what's left of your weekend 😁👌
Barry, why did you choose wooden gunnels (I like the look of them) and add stainless steel against the usual crabber style of glassed in gunnels? I am also interested in knowing why you didnt have the hull re-enforced with glass and strips like other pot hauling boat protecting the hull from damage. (I dont like the look of them myself.) Nice to see you getting on with the jobs before the season.
Hi James. As always, thank you so much for your comments and questions.😍😁👌 I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm quite a traditional man. I like things the way they should be. When these boats were designed by the incredible Gary Mitchell, they were all done with wooden gunnels. (And I love them❤️😍😁👌😂😂😂😂) and for me they keep the shape of the boat, plus they add a little weight to them which makes them a better sea boat when built right. As for the fibreglass gunnels. For me, they took away the shape of the boat, increased the sheer, and for me, they are damn ugly.😂😂😂😂 but each to their own.😁👌
Oops, sorry James, I pressed send before I was finished answering your questions.....sorry.🙈😂😂😂😂😂 I have an extra layer of glass where the pots come up, bud. We have 3 layers of " staggered" 900oz chops strand matting and 3 layers of tissue onto that as well. The original plan wat to coat that area with a sheet of Stainless steel, but unfortunately the weight ratios were far too great for such a small vessel, so that's why we opted for the extra layers of glass.😁👌 She's certainly taking a bartering over the last 2 years, and most of its been in the harbour, I'm afraid 🙄🙈 And maybe a bit part of no time for maintenance due to building gear. But we will get her ship shape for this season.😍😁👌 Enjoy your week ahead. All the best.😁
