Im 20 years old figured out school isnt me after looking at the common trades like plumbing, welding, electrical, HVAC seems to the one to be the best

Thank you! I recommend you read some books like"Up your business" by Dave Anderson. I just started reading it but there are many other books out there that people are recommending to me as well.

Starting school in January...I've been in construction for years...carpentry mostly....I've been curious about HVAC for years..finally getting my ducks in a row...Thanks for sharing!
Right on! I was thinking when I retire I want to do carpentry in my garage. 😆 Making little things like small furniture for fun and perhaps selling them in yard sales. I think you'll love working on HVAC field if you don't mind getting dirty.

Great video sir! Just like anything, the best way to make money is to be your own boss. Get paid to learn the skills by working for someone else but then when you have your skills you can start your own company, then the sky is the limit!

I studied electrical and electronics it really helps in troubleshooting. I’m also master plumber as well as HVAC.

Sounds like you'll be very comfortable handling electronic/mechanical equipment. Could service pinball machines with such skill I imagine?

I’m 19 and have been doing hvac for about 7 months now and I love it, I’ve always been interested in the trades and liked this one the best for an everyday job, all the stuff you said was very accurate. I have almost every tool under the sun, and my skill set has grown a lot, the pay is good and I can save a lot of money down the road
Cameron I'm very happy that you started so young. I wish I had started sooner. You have a great future ahead of you. The only other advise I would give you is to work safely. I wasn't in the beginning and now my back and my knees are paying the price. Plus, I also have a hernia on my belly button. So wear a mask, eye protection, knee pads, gloves and a back brace whenever lifting something heavy. If you do that you'll ensure yourself a long future in this trade. Have fun!

Hello, and Thank you for this video! I am 40 yrs old, looking to change my career, and thinking about going to a vocational school to learn the hvac trade. I’m coming from a very different industry (tv/film video editing). My question is, am I too old and inexperienced to start a new career in hvac?
It's pretty hard on your body. I'm only 50, been doing this since 99 and feel like it's taken it's toll on my body. But if you're in good shape and exercise regularly, don't have any bad habits like drinking a lot you should be ok.

@ALLrobotsAreSad My pleasure! If you really want to enter this trade you could try studying hard and going into maintenance and repairs only. Installations are the killers. You could see my installation videos to get a realistic idea of what it's like.

Yes I'm pretty much a one man shop. Customer's refer me or by getting good reviews online helps. I started in the trade in April of 1999. Advise I would give you is go to school and work part time in HVAC. Thank you for watching!
So I work in a Walmart warehouse making ok money in Florida. But Walmart pays for tuition for some bachelors degrees and trades, HVAC is one of them. I’m thinking of learning a trade through Walmart’s program because it will give me a skill that will give me job security. If I try for a bachelors I may not graduate until my late 30’s. But I can start doing the trades quickly. I’m thinking of HVAC but I don’t know if it will be worth it financially. I already make 23 an hour as a warehouse worker with no skills.
You said it yourself. 23 an hour with no skill and no job security. HVAC trade will teach you how to work on electrical, plumbing, framing. Skills that will transfer over to other trades. Yes you'll probably get paid less when you first start but depending on how fast you learn can make more money in the long run. I don't know how much HVAC techs get paid in Florida so I'm not sure how much of a pay cut you could potentially get. Or would you be working for Walmart doing HVAC work?
I understand how you feel. I work at in a Wal-Mart warehouse as well and making $20+. I'm going to school to become a lawyer but I'm afraid that the risk may be too much when it comes to student loans and by the time I finish college, I'm going to be in my mid to late 30s. Learning a trade such as HVAC came in mind because I can jump into the career rather quickly with little to no debt. As for starting HVAC, I would continue to work at Walmart and save while learning the trade. At the end of the day, it will be worth the financial risk. Yeah you may start at a lower pay rate, but you'll be learning a skill and skills are what's going to keep you marketable and can help you start your own business. Right now I'm using Wal-Mart for its resources and after that I'm done.

I have the test results saved somewhere. I think it was around 90% or close to it. 🤔

No. My friend who already works there told me what to study. It would have helped if their was a guide.
Chiller techs make up to 96$ an hour in San Francisco. I am not a chiller tech. I work on everything not in SF.

It's hard work but you'll learn so many skills, well worth it in my opinion.

Sounds like not enough time. I would research it. Ask local HVAC companies if they now of a good trade school or college for hvac.

During busy season it could be that way yes. Refrigeration is worst though.
Also depends if you do commercial or residential. Residential AC can wait till the morning open the windows turn on some fans they’ll be ok . A freezer full of chicken cannot wait till morning.
