Why buy a player the manager won't play and if you are telling him who to play the manager may as well just put the cones out. As for types of play the club can have an identity and say when play with wingers, possession and attacking but thats about it. You then hire a manager who already plays that style you can't tell a manager more than that or Wilcox may as well give the team talks

The one thing they mustn't do is extend his contract when they clearly have doubts about him. Why would you risk a termination pay out when you don't have to place yourself in that position? No big club will come for him, so having him in the final year of his contract presents no risk.
Maybe the strategy was to get ETH to walkaway! Let's be honest, INEOS must've looked at the compensation package and maybe they thought we need to get him to walkaway! But ETH stood firm with honor. Kudos to ETH.
