Actually it is scrambled eggs a lot of people do add meat and cheese to scramble eggs. They probably say it is French because I that's what most common cooking (method) in the culinary world at least in America it is.

scrambled egg is cooked very similiarly to french toast so it likely did come from there
I have to make scrambled eggs fairly often for my on-campus job, but I can safely say I've never had to put any seafood in it.
I've made scrambled eggs with sugar in them before; they're quite addicting and they really make you bounce off the walls.
