Very nice work. We're closer to compost heating our greenhouse. Your videos are helpful, thanks. Small, cheap solar pumps and fans? Cooling is going to be our problem....

I have seen designs using that black drain like he has around the pole 0:10:00 in 6' deep trenches. Either thermosyphon or a computer fan on solar/battery at the end of tube.
Used for winter fresh air warming and summer cooling

Thank you, okay that statement may be misleading ~ solar or not, pumps and fans run on electricity. Ac or dc we use dc for ease of use, that said we can hook up any dc powered items small water fountain pumps or transfer/ bilge pumps. Usually all had under 20-30$. The fans are relatively cheap and if you get waterproof they will last in the greenhouse . Here’s a link the the best ones we’ve been using heat resistant and waterproof 12volt dc powered. These are a little higher in price but worth it. 89 cubic feet per minute is great flow-TITAN- 12V DC IP55 Waterproof/Dustproof Case Cooling Fan (140mm (2 Pack)) a.co/d/dFkWTuq

What difference does it make how fast heat transfers through plastic vs copper when you do not want to take heat off real fast? Just a way of thinking about it. Keep up the good work.

You’re absolutely correct. I have two separate water systems to switch over mid winter to see if I can pull heat from different layers of the pile as opposed to the copper dead center. We will completely rebuild the heat transfer system inside the pile next year. But for now we’ve got not much invested this year. Small fittings and 50$ to the tractor driver. Thanks for checking this out and great question!

A small green house to house the compost and then the transfer station could be under the house. A well insulated crawl space with poly liner and vents blocked off.

There is always menthe and he talked about methane being combustible and there are stories of compost piles igniting. Just FYI.@@whodafukarweetribe

I'm curious. I'm thinking with all the solar couldn't you just run a heat tape about 8= deep and run it off your 12 v system overnight? I've thought about this allot for my green house but haven't implemented it yet.

Ive thought about using a underlayment heating wire or something like that yes, I still may do it in another context or for a raised bed inside the greenhouse, the geothermal could be used with water to run lines around the beds for solid temps night or day. Great idea man. 🤜

Would it be better to run 1/2 PEX vs. 3/4" PEX? Just wondering since the flow was so slow, thus the pipe would not be full to warm the soil. I am planning on burying my PEX at least 18" to heat my tropical plants in a raised bed through the winter. I am in Zone 5b. Curious on thoughts on this.

My thoughts- put the heat where you need it directly. Possibly build a second shelter for your tropical pants like a greenhouse inside a greenhouse (depending on space) if you only need it for one area you can coil excess around for more transfer. Thanks for checking this out!

Do you not get enough energy to run your fans with your solar system? I ran my electric fence charger with the solar charger. How many feet of pex tubing and the size of the tubing is it?

We have several pumps we’re experimenting with, the bigger the pump the more draw it has, that is what we’re doing now is swapping pumps around that are running water through the copper. I’ll be switching to the pex tubing later on as another experiment. We get enough to run the fans on a cloudy day, everything is in the process of being set up and I’ve been adding fans to the system for the stove piggybacking on the 100w system for fans only. I should have a better video out soon showing it all coming together lol thanks for watching and great questions - 3/4” pex and 4” drain tile
