One of the best RPG in last years. Cute graphic, gameplay is really good, a bit of grinding for mats for crafting, but not bored grinding, really worth to play.
Utawarerumono trilogy fan here. It's great to know that there's a separate game for Oshtor elaborating his past. Game's good- it's a JRPG, if you're not a hellbent ARPG/Hack-n-Slash lover. The turn system is very similar to Uta but can be manipulated. I guess it is made like that in order to compensate for the lost SRPG mechanics. That said, it, the world/exploration, just feels too empty right now. Hope the updates will give more life to the game.
I believe the first Utawarerumono is Prelude to the Fallen, then Mask of Deception then Mask of Truth. Although Prelude to the Fallen can be harder to find and more expensive. There's also a condensed version of the 3 games, which i believe is an action jrpg.
Yes and no, you got the order correct but the action game you speak of Utawarerumono Zan and Utawarerumono Zan 2 are remakes/abridged versions of Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth featuring gameplay in the vein of Musou/Warrior games
3:10 ive never understood why some people want EVERY random encounter to be a slog, if i have to be 100% in every random ass junk fight i start feeling like im playing a puzzle game with every encounter needing to be done a specific way. worst of all you never feel like your getting stronger. so "spamming area wide skills" to win against junk is your reward for getting stronger :P
As a fan of the Utawarerumono franchise, I was really looking forward to this entry. I hope the gacha game someday gets a translation and that the Zan games come to PC.
Underwater Ray Romano may be the single greatest autocorrect of Utawarerumono I've ever seen. (Please don't feel I'm making fun of you. That's just such an unforgettably epic piece of autocorrect.)
@@1wayroad935 First two?... Do you mean in chronological/original release order? (Prelude > Mask of Deception) Or in the English localization order? (Mask of Deception > Mask of Truth) Because if you haven't played Mask of Truth yet... Man, you are really missing out! The story is SO good. Prelude tells a good self-contained story. It doesn't quite reach the same hights as Mask of Truth, and the gameplay is pretty meh, but the story alone makes it worth playing it if you are into the series, IMO. That aside, I believe those 3 games cover pretty much the whole lore and setting. The only other games in the series are Musou spin offs with pretty poor player and critical reception, and as far as I'm aware, the story is just a watered-down version of the "mask" duology, so you are probably not missing much in terms of lore.
This looks semi decent. I have so many games preordered 😫🤦🏽♂️…. Not to mention I’m needed front mission remastered at the end of this month 😂. Great review 👊🏾👌🏾
im new to utawaremono series and just finished the game. this game is a bit flat at the beginning, plus the lack of background npc expression (more likely faceless). but mid-end game was quite ok. not to spoil the end, but im pretty sure there will be chapter 2 of this game which im sure it will be great
I think I read some news about the NPC expressions being a bit... patched recently. I don't know if on consoles and/or pc. Could you confirm if any noticeable change please? 😊
@@miorionomichi Ps publishers, that released other games from this franchise (NISA and ATLUS) no longer interested in it. So there’s no publisher to west release Monochrome on PlayStation
Anyone getting Blue Screens of Death Crashes with this Game? It has happened to me 3 times now with only about 6 hours of gameplay. Windows 10, 3060ti, 128 Gb RAM, 2 Tb Nvme SSD, not sure what the issue is. Thought my Graphics card was getting too hot so I undervolted it & dropped the clock speed on the memory a little as well & it still does it. My Display is an Ultrawide but I play the Game in 1080p so it should not be an issue.
Is your cpu overheating, or do you have a bad power supply? I have had this exact problem in other games with my 13900kf and 4070 ti with a cheap low powered PSU and high temps on the cpu
How long did it take you to beat the game ? The game looks fun but i am getting it in a sale cardfight vanguard dear days Released also today so i go get that game
I have a lot to play right now so not that interested any more, and tbh, I wanted the art of the VNs on this, which we did not get, so definitly waiting on a sale for this.
I cant believe they dont let us save whenever we want in a game nowadays and the npc models looks like something from a 15 years old game. Was the game release rushed or something? That said the stories in utawarerumono are really good and i will push thru to finish it
I love it but not knowing it was off a graphic novel series style game it seemed lazy made. to few monster types and the faces of people, those, not the main character were blank faces with no eyes or months annoyed me. Yet it's simple not complex gameplay storytelling and beautiful scenes and artwork for the main characters that is fun. Yet a bit too much at first leveling up bugs me it felt a little boring after a time. I love this game. Hope the next one is more RPG-like yet keeping with what they started with this.
it probably won't ... they have targeted PS4 for the lower end for performance and that's mostly fine but Switch is underpowered for this - I presume that it would require quite a bit of work to scale it down ... I play it on Steam Deck and there it runs great so you have that option

I completely forgot this game was coming out. It looks really nice graphically considering how the previous games were presented.
i love this combat system..its true classic..
I've only played the first two Underwater Ray Romano games, so the current state of the lore in the setting is completely alien to me now

but that ending!!!???? we need a sequel immediately if it's possible.
From what I can tell on PlayAsia, the physical release on Playstation doesn't have English sub or am I mistaken?
Bummer that it only released on Playstation in Japan.
It's also released on steam and in English too.
