I just remember watching the draft and thinking they picked him too early, considering the situation. As for his drop off, I didn't see it either after his pro bowl year. I was hoping last year was just a case of the Mike Nolan disease but apparently not
If I remember correctly the Cowboys took him because their doctors worked with Jaylon and evaluated his injuries and told Jerry that he’ll be fine. Jerry took a flyer on Jaylon. I honestly think if any team doctors said the same thing, they would’ve taken a flyer on him too. Coming out of ND before his injury, he was a top 5 pick for sure. It seems like they did this so he could get an opportunity to start somewhere else instead of sitting on the bench because they can't find a better place for him on their defense.... He's a phenomenal player it would be such a waste for him to sit on the bench all season

One minute your a team captain and the next minute your being released. As a cowboys fan I'm used to being disappointed on so many levels but I hope the best for Jaylon Smith.
Skip should’ve said “Do you know who was the NFC Defensive player of the week and last month?” 😎
there's no shame for Jaylon. he overcame one of the worst injuries you'll ever see to become a pro bowl player. and he did get paid.
I like Jaylon & I thought he'd make it through this season but I hope he lands somewhere. That said, I don't understand why the Cowboys picked him in Rd 2. Given the injury he was coming off of they could've got him in the 3rd if not the 4th.
Bilicheck had stated that if the cowboys didn't take him round 2, he would have.
@@tonygraziano2459 fair enough
that has nothing to do with it, his first full season he played he was good, his second he was AMAZING. nobody saw this decline. them
Picking him and gambling paid off until it’s almost like he gave up and didn’t care about football
@@sosajc15 I didn't say it had anything to do with this, just that I didn't understand it at the time. Jaylen wasn't even jogging at the time of the draft & there was genuine concern among quite a few as to whether he'd ever play again.
It was a high risk high reward type of a situation.
Dude got the bag and has never been the same lost that hunger.
Soooo why is DeMarcus Lawrence still there though.. When the time he had a double digit sack year... Typical Cowboys..
Lawrence is a good run stopper and he can still pressure the QB even if he doesn’t get credited for a sack
Jaylon was a great hype guy for the boys…thank you Mr Smith and good luck #54

It's unbelievable that professional analysts don't know that Jaylon had a clause in his contract that guaranteed his 2022 salary if he got hurt this year.
And he would not sign off on it. Hence, he gets released.
Skip ! I knew it, within few plays . That our run defense could be good but I had wait on saying really good . It just how they was playing at the line of scrimmage . I never seen them play like that in 2020 . It's was a thing of beauty!! And it is still early but I think we got something real good with this run D.
Bad chemistry move
Cold business. Just leading the huddle and named defensive captain
Real Cowboys fans would understand this move. We made Jaylon Smiths dreams come true; nobody wanted him. Thank you for your time Jaylon. We will be just fine! Jabril Cox coming!!!!!!! DC4L
Demarcus Lawrence you been put on notice!!
Vander should've been released before Jalen, garbage
Tripping
LVE is playing on his last year, Jaylon had guaranteed money against injury next year. Being he had his knee shredded once, it's a smart move if you don't plan on keeping him past this year.
why when he already on his last year they didnt pick his option up jaylen was bout to hurt the cap next season so they got ahead of the curve
LVE is playing great this year, much better than Jaylon.
Why hasn't skip and sharp talk about Urban Myer video??
Cause it all about LeBron and the cowboy's...
Nagative mike and DQ had a hand in it. They opponented him captain to make it look better for the coaches.
yeah wish they coulda let him stay so he could be with us on our deep playoff run.. it is a business but sometimes its a lil too cold❄
shame on Sterling Sharpe giving credit to Stefon Diggs’s bro 😂 at 16:39
Callous. Jones paid him $32 mil guaranteed, kept him on the roster this season to make sure he got his 7 mil and released him so he could latch on to another team. Props to the Jones family for taking care of this guy.
“Let’s bump helmets!!”… (in Bobby Bucher voice)
It seems like they did this so he could get an opportunity to start somewhere else instead of sitting on the bench because they can't find a better place for him on their defense.... He's a phenomenal player it would be such a waste for him to sit on the bench all season
Phenomenal?
I would be nice if they showed what they are commentating on/looking at, when they are talking about a play or something!
Why cut the guy? If parsons or van der esch get hurt its good to have depth . And Honestly Jaylon Smith has declined but hes still better than Demarcus Lawrence
🤦♂️
Oh boy, what a stupid take.
@@SuperSolshy explain
Lol no
You do know we still have depth right? And the “depth guys” we have are better than Jaylon, that’s kind of the problem there bud 🥴
His position adaption has to be true to character of team
Jerry did him wrong! How he on decline but lead the team in tackles last year… But Sean Lee way past his prime for years and stayed on the team to the point HE decided to leave himself.
Jerry drafted him with a shredded knee knowing he was gonna be gone for a year then Jerry turned around and paid him a handsome contract. Jerry took care of this man as much he could. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do I’ll miss his energy but he has looked slow compared to his earlier years
Jerry gave Jaylon that big deal when nobody in the league would have and kept him way after he was washed. You tell me 1 team who keeps Jalon this long and gives him the deal considering his injury history
New Orleans, we need em. Go get em.
I hope the Packer’s go further than the Cowboy’s 🙏🏽
Like they have for the last thirty years
He broke the Bank with that contract nobody wanted to trade for him and pick up the contract as well....
Damn, he’s trash? I was bout to say the chiefs should call em. I wouldn’t want to add to the pile of overpaid, average to below average defensive players we have on defense. Damn, shun
Yea u don’t want him. He’s really bad against the run and pass.
@@acpi3334 so bad at everything?
@@LalienX yup😂and he’s always celebrating after making a tackle 10yrd from the los.
GB signed him, which is good news for the Chiefs. He’s way below average for an NFL LB. Terrible reads, slow to the ball, can no longer get anywhere near the QB on a blitz. Sad that he’s washed up, but he made 10s of millions of dollars when no one thought he would every play after that injury.
