Best sounding V6 on a sedan for sure. Thank you for broadcasting it on UA-cam. The best sounding V6 on a car, in my opinion, is also in a Jaguar: the F-TYPE S. Not a surprise that both motors are the exact same: JLR’s AJ126.
I just listen to the engine with my headphones in. It's a beautiful harmonic rumble. A symphony of combustion that intoxicates your soul if you push it up in the rev band. This engine will be missed.
Some critics balked about the somewhat crude way the AJ126 was designed being that it used essentially the same block as the AJ133 V8 which it was based on... and yes it was an ultra cost-effective method for Jaguar to create the V6, but who really cares? Look at the end-result! The lustful engine & exhaust note, the fierce acceleration, the solid foundation for modifications...the engine has such a unique character, nothing else out there quite like it and likely never will be. You are absolutely correct, it will be missed and it puts to shame the boring, dull, anemic & unreliable Ingenium I-4s which replaced it. Ever since 2019 when the AJ126 was dropped the XE became a great car which deserved the great engine it once had.

I've owned my xe s for around a year now and haven't had any issues, if you look after them and keep up with servicing they are no worse than your equivalent BMW in terms of reliability and that V6 sounds amazing
@@samallamby-thompsonSame here. I've had my 2017 XE 35t AWD Prestige for about a year and haven't had to do anything beyond typical maintenance. Jaguar reliability has definitely improved after they were bought out by Tata Motors.

I find if you give it a good run with rpms over 2.5k all the time, it doesn't tick the next morning. Problem is, you need to be doing 80mph + The ingenium engines are problematic, apparently
@@mikeh2006 Yep, my AJ126 is also ticks when cold and also for 1-2 min after a warm start, but like you said I believe most of them do the same thing, I think the high-pressure DI system makes a lot of noise. After the timing chain tensioner & guide updates which came to both the AJ engines in 2014 they became more reliable for sure. I think the main issues remaining after 2014 seem to be the water pump and the coolant crossover pipe leaks. Hello! I'm thinking of buying one with around 125k km, very well mentained at a Jaguar dealership. Are they any good in terms of reliability? Jags have quite an awful reputation in my country
If it’s the 3L supercharged it’s very reliable, the only issue was related with crossover pipe inside the V of the engine. But if that car has that mileage I guess it’s fixed already. Also some coolant lines start to leaking, but not too serious and easily to find and fix, also cheap parts. The supercharger coupler also could be an issue but you can hear. Apart from that everything is solid and no issue. With preventive maintenance you won’t get any problems.
@@InCoGn1t0 Thanks! Supercharger has been changed under warranty, and 2 years ago the owner changed it's accesories(coupler, pulley etc.) as well, along with the water pump and the coolant lines you mentioned, so I guess I found quite a good ride. Good luck with yours and hope you won't get any trouble from it as well!
@@InCoGn1t0 no way! I just contacted a dealer up the road from me about one two days ago about a test drive for a 2018. This video may have been the deal breaker for me. Thanks mate for posting it!
@burazz8535 yes the car is mine. Mine is also from 2016. I love the car. Yes it’s not perfect, specially the rear seat space and the boot space, considering I have two kids and when we want to go on vacations it’s a tricky process to fit everything. Reliability it’s very good, only the crossover pipe(mine already fixed by me) tends to snap and all the coolant disappears from the engine. The parts is cheap, around 40€. In terms of all the rest very solid, no major issues on this engines are known. The driving was superb and the sound track from stock exhaust is what you can hear from this video, beautiful.
Definitely l. That one of the things that I love the most. The have a lot of power and many adjustments. And also love the cornering functions. We can see the road ahead perfectly
In terms of reliability it’s very good. Only some coolant pipes aren’t so good, but engine itself it’s very strong. And the average fuel consumption it depends but it impressed me. At the highway at speeds around 120 to 130km/h you can make around 8 to 9L/100km. In cities if you aren’t crazy I’m some accelerations you can expect around 12 to 13L/100km. 😉
Jaguar and reliability don't go together. Just kidding. I am a JLR tech and the most common issues with the AJ126 is the cooling system is poorly designed. The hoses like to break and leak coolant into the rear manifold and valley under the supercharger. The V6 also likes to drink coolant and tends to overheat but as long as the car's taken care of it shouldn't have any major issues and is a blast to drive.
@@Vyper- Unfortunately the 5.0 V8s also suffer from this issue as the V6 is derived from the V8. But they are definitely worth it if you can look past the overheating issue.
I have had no issues with mine after around a year and fuel efficiency for a supercharged v6 is great on a 250ish mile journey I achieved 39.2MPG@@InCoGn1t0
As I already mentioned, it’s completely stock. The only change it has it’s the exhaust tips. Put ones with a larger diameter. Inside the car we don’t have the idea of the exhaust sound. I put a GoPro in the rear bumper and the sound it’s from there that’s why it sound so good
