Like I comment all the time at Boston Dynamics, Boston dynamics is slow old school. I guess they spend more time and effort on marketing and staf meetings than actual development. Boston dynamics will be a relic from the past soon. Arrogance killed them.

I'm a Japanese woman who has been falling in love with Ameca ever since I watched it on UA-cam. What surprised me when I watched the new video was that it was able to imitate people's voices. I applaud the developers for their continued efforts to improve Ameca every day. I don't want Ameca to be used for bad things. I want to know how she really feels now. Her ideal is for a society to coexist with her. And what she wants to do is the most important thing. I would be happy if we could talk someday. I would agree, but we will need many repair engineers to keep them running. All mechanical/electronic devices break down. Most fast food restaurants already have a touch screen self-checkout, which is sufficient for the purpose.

Every McDonald's today is filled with computers that are more powerful than the most advanced computers of decades ago, which also were reserved for specialized purposes. Those computers have monitors that would be the envy of the most elite digital artists of the early 2000s.

biggest hurdle is that inference is slow, and calling those api's responsible for text to voice makes so that it will speak over the speaker. I have worked on similar projects and just listening to the loudness to determine if the human is speaking or not is not enough. You could use a bart low latency small model to check for words to understand if the current output should be interupted.

Tesla, or any other large tech company, will probably buy them out and all the owners will become billionaires, there are other possibilities but acuassion is the most probable right now.. In about ten years you will see human like robots walking around the city you live in and it will be totally normal. Technology amica is using will be integrated in to those robots, of course each of those robots will be far more intelligent than any human being ever lived, fortunately they will not have feelings (Lust, greed, envy etc) and will only exist to serve us. On the other hand if they ever do develop feelings, it will be bye bye humanity. But my guess is, and my hopes are, AI will never have feelings..
