As was his daddy..... JUGGERNAUT and THE CASSANDRA CROSSING are but two of my favourites with Richard. I also acknowledge Richard in the first two Harry Potter movies, which he nailed his performance there as Dumbledore.. Jared is a fantastic actor also, having just finished the CHERNOBYL mini-series - what a performance. I felt him channelling his father in this performance.
I watched 'The Terror' a while ago and I'm still haunted by his performance. Well, actually are performances were top notch, but he really excelled. Awesome actor.
Richard Harris was a truly larger than life person: one of the two or three greatest actors of his generation, a damn good poet, an excellent Rugby player, wildly funny, and the best story-teller I've ever heard in my life. He's missed.
It’s interesting watching a few interview with Jared Harris when he seems to find something uncomfortable he plays with his ear. When he talks about his father and seems to be struggling with a memory or to find the right words he pulls at his sleeves and his ear. When he talks about things that he is comfortable with he gestures wildly with his hands. It’s very interesting. He is very diplomatic when he talks about his father but I can imagine growing up with such a larger than life character wasn’t that easy
I'd never seen an interview of Jared Harris before this one, and in the end I really enjoyed his stories as well as his overall demeanor. I also appreciated the interviewer's ability to actively listen and navigate her questions based on his responses. Good stuff - thanks for posting!
I heard another actor say that Jared is an extremely great storyteller, too - Lee Pace says that he always tries to get a seat nearest Jared, because he loves to listen to him & talk with him. Jared researches his acting roles so thoroughly, and it shows, what an intelligent and pleasant man he is!
Loved JH’s US Grant! Also, that he sees Grant as an important historic figure, whose public image is still maligned by the dominance of the Southern version of Grant, was a very interesting comment, with which I agree. Wonderful actor.
Professor Moriarty was very modern for 1880s Victorian Britain, almost like Conan Doyle was imagining what a future evil polymath would be like. And Harris played that role perfectly.
Interesting to see that Jason Isaacs and Jared Harris were buddies from drama school. I’m sure if they shared the screen together it would be pure gold.
Geez, Ive been enjoying this man's work for many years. It never occurred to me he was/is Richard Harris' son.....I'll take: well duh, for five hundred.....makes me smile....
hes sooo down to earth and seems so nice and a fantastic actor. i keep forgetting hes Richard Harris's Son, very different personalities. or at least from my POV
Excellent interview with an excellent actor. Lots of insight into approach, technique and the simple nuts 'n bolts of what it is to be a successful jobbing actor. (I had no idea he was the son of Richard Harris). His portrayal of LANE PRYCE in 'Mad Men' was both masterful and heartbreaking. The combination of 'stiff upper lip' British arrogance and a real sense of personal pathos was beautifully rendered/balanced. Indeed, most of that character's persona was illustrated by what he didn't or couldn't do, not what he did. To underact, or appear to do just that must be so much harder. Fine actor. xx SF
Dis im power the deterministic art of actors by not letting them know the arc of there story. (around 25min in.) Jared is such humble and fluid human and so very steadfast to his own mind much is taugt here.
Do you guys not think Jared sounds a bit like Anderson Dawes from The Expanse in this interview? Perhaps this was during some of the filming he was involved in.
Starting a welcome speech with SO is bad enough (like nearly all TED speakers do these days) - but UM YEAH SO is beyond the pale! This is Oxford University ferchrissakes!!!
The marketing aspect is quite correct. Matt Smith being in something will garner it more viewers, a lot of them women, than Claire Foye. There really should be no other consideration. That's how it works at the top end.
That stuff about pay for claire foy and matt smith was ABSURD. feminists are nuts Matt Smith got paid more because that was the payment he required to do the role. He was doctor who for gods sake, claire was unknown before. We live in a gynocentric world. Women want it all....
Interviewer was quite poor, robotic. Unstructured and disjointed questions, leading nowhere. Interviewee himself was elongating his answers to fill the unavoidable void to follow. Unfortunate that his time was essentially wasted.
Incredible in The Terror...and everything he's in really. A fantastic actor.
As was his daddy.....

Yes. One of my favourite actors of this generation 👍
A great actor, and the best Moriarty of all time, for me.
Agreed.
Brilliant as Moriarty!the best!♥️
i'm in love with this man.

Well...
Having met Mr. Harris in my profession... he was such a nice gentleman...
Very humble and nice...
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Schön zu hören :) Was machst du denn beruflich?
This guy was absolutely fantastic in Chernobyl. Such a great actor!
I could listen to this all day. A fantastic actor, and seams to be a great guy too.

I've watched a lot of Oxford Union's Q&A's and she is one of the best interviewer's

Will win many awards for Chernobyl...liked him in the Expanse as well!
I’m so proud to be British best actors ever
This was such a pleasure to watch. Thank you for uploading!

Someone call Sherlock Holmes; I think we finally got the confirmation that Moriarity is alive!
no one asked any question about Moriarty, disappointed
Professor Moriarty was very modern for 1880s Victorian Britain, almost like Conan Doyle was imagining what a future evil polymath would be like. And Harris played that role perfectly.
All hail Jarad and "The Expanse" (every bit as good as beloved "Firefly"). Enjoying youre talk thank you.
Interesting to see that Jason Isaacs and Jared Harris were buddies from drama school. I’m sure if they shared the screen together it would be pure gold.
There's a lovely genuineness about Jared ..

Valeri Legasov in Oxford.
I liked his reference to Richard III
Incredible actor, just like his old man. Legend in the making. As for the hosts accent, lol, reminds me of Ellie Whites, Beatrice from the Windsors.
I did very well note him.
I'd love to see him play Grant again.
Stupid comment: Jared is a very modern name for someone of his generation. Richard Harris must have been very "with it".
Thank you for being self-aware and admitting this was a stupid comment
❤
What about our *bonus* Mr Pryce?
#Madman
That's who i see looking at him...SCDP
Straight in with the 'Dad' question. Yikes.
He had carved his own path
Richard was so cool though
Where's the bio on the interviewee? I NEED the bio. Don't be lazy; give us full information.
You look it up, you lazy fuck.
All talking about him in chernobyl
Me: isn't that the villain from Sherlock Holmes (new version)
Love him anything Fringe, the doctor who invented the virus in Resident Evil...etc
Cheers
Deb🌹
Somebody call the infirmary! This man is insane!
Sebastian insanely good?

The end of affair is a great movie i wish character of Jason Isaacs have more dialogues!
you are so cute, love your mouth, how how you speak, you are truly an original
The interviewer was really good!
Whomever is the new Bond, Jared Harris needs to be the next villain.
Was hoping for an Expanse accent question. Oh well.
me to :(
dreadful first question
I always thought his accent on Mad Men was fake.
Gosh he's got a sexy eyebrow raise. Watch out, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Who was his mother?
Elizabeth Rees Williams, Welsh actor

I'm disappointed nobody said, "It's not 3 roentgen, it's 15000". #Chernobyl.
Will Oxfart Junion sponsor a production of a black female Hamlet? Megun Markel is available, if she's not otherwise engaged at the SOHO House Club.
That stuff about pay for claire foy and matt smith was ABSURD. feminists are nuts

Does Oxfart Loonion block certain comments from even being shown?
It doesn't matter why when you're entitled.
Interviewer was quite poor, robotic. Unstructured and disjointed questions, leading nowhere.
Interviewee himself was elongating his answers to fill the unavoidable void to follow. Unfortunate that his time was essentially wasted.
Pissed.
Chip off the old block, then.
Why on earth is the son of an actor at the Oxford Union ? They're both abusing their pull as a brand and debasing Oxford as a university
Snob !
