Here's another tip that is really not recommended but nice to know:
The ghosts all have a certain pattern. They run by Chase and Scatter modes. A tip to know is that ghosts will never turn 180 degrees while chasing PAC-MAN. The only time they do is when you eat a Power Pellot or they shift modes. When they become Scatter mode, they turn 180 then head for the corners of the map for each ghost. They then return to Chase after some time. Now the ghost patterns.
Blinky will ALWAYS go for PAC.
Pinky goes for the tile that is 4 PAC-Dots in front PAC in the direction he's facing. However in the original when facing up, the target is 4 dots up and 4 dots to the left. I don't know if they fixed it to just be 4 up in 99. Still you can trick Pinky in some areas. Just remember she will try to hit you in front.
Inky is the most trickiest pattern. What he does specifically is target the dot tile where is a 180 degree turn on the PAC-Dot two away from PAC-MAN, and the length of how far the target is Blinky's location. This is why Inky spared your life when you were being bombarded trying to grab the pellot. Blinky was at the right side of PAC, and so Inky's code is to go to the left of PAC.
Clyde's is weird. His system is that he always follow PAC-MAN too, like Blinky. However the moment he is less than 8 PAC-Dots away from PAC, Clyde will target the bottom left of the maze. So in a way, at certain intersections, you can go head on to Clyde when he is about to reach an intersection, and once close enough, Clyde will turn away. Mostly helpful if you're at the right side of the maze.
Additionally, there is a rule that if you turn up at the intersections extremely close to your spawn, or near the Ghost House's exit, the ghosts can't move up, giving you somewhat of a breather if you're being chased by Blinky or the others. Blinky especially. However, as shown in 99, later on in the round, the rule no longer applies, and is shown by arrows of up and down being around those areas. *That* is what the game tells you. They are no longer a safe spot and the game is on.

I love Pac-man, its so addicted playing, and its such a simple game, so fun. I love this idea too, it makes it more challenging.Chomp chomp that's one hungry Pac-man. It would be cool of they made a Mario version of Pac Man , and its Yoshi as the Pac-man and the Goomba's as the Ghosts. Thank you for the smiles, you rock.

Just played my first games of Pac-Man 99, mainly using your strategies of Train and Knockout. I placed 9th in my first match, then 5th, 7th, 3rd, 11th, 2nd, and then I finally became PAC-ONE in my 7th game!

My own personal strategy is to set it at speed and counter, and just complete each maze until the red pacmans start appearing, then i switch up my strategy to collecting the little ghosts for future combos and overall try to survive, round 9 and 13 are super tough and incredibly fast, so then when I'm at round 10-12 i use this guy's strategy to just take my time and stop, power pellets also eliminates all the white ghosts that slow you down and stops the red pacmans from moving so that's good to keep in mind
Sounds like a good strat. I am stilling having the most luck oddly when I stick to this method. But I've been trying some other methods to keep it fun. I'll try yours today. Speedy pacman sounds fun.
This was really helpful I tried to do these moves but I lost 1 game, So i can watch this every time when I’m playing this game it looks like so much fun, And also I could probably draw PAC-MAN on my empty paper that I haven’t drawn on yet.
also, try switching to "stronger" while eating ghosts, it makes your attacks more powerful. you could also switch to "speed" if you're in kind of a situation where you have to be fast.
Proper arcades/barcades need to have this in the classic table style.. Would love to go against people in that kind of setting

I've played about 8 hours of this game. Until I watched your video, the best I could do was second place. After watching your video, I finally got first!
Just got my first win using a similar strategy today, ironically 13 hours after the game was supposed to shut down because for whatever reason it still let me play! It's a shame this game is being taken down, and I forgot to get the DLC in time so I could keep playing the offline CPU battles. :(

I'm pretty good at the original pac man but this game has definitely changed enough that I'm dying for dumb reasons, like being faster than the ghosts causing me to run into them when I should normally be losing ground on them

Just realizing that Pac-Man came out when I was two, before you were born (I think), and most of the kids playing this game now probably never played the original, really makes me feel old.
I was -3 years old. haha. A little before my time. Maybe this'll get some people interested in ole PAC-MAN. This game makes it really fresh.

I only installed it because it had 99 in the name, bro whenever there's a switch game with 99 and battle royale I get hooked, like I never liked Tetris, but when Nintendo made a battle royale of it I decided to check it out, and then watch UA-cam vids on it and watched many pros like Wumbo, and made me want to get good at it, the same things happening with Pac-man for me 😆 I love these 2 games now

I set this up to download on release and completely forgot about it lol. I'll have to try your tips when I go to play this while I wait for my cousin to pop online for some good ol fashioned Rocket League.

I didn't think this is the kind of game you like but if it is please do a stream of it 'not at the same time as GameXplain stream like with SMB35 last time' and please do like ya did with SMB35 so we who don't have the dlc might have a chance of playing the game with you.

Yo whenever there's a switch 99 battle royale game I get hooked 😆 like I never liked Tetris, but when Nintendo made Tetris 99 I decided to give it a go, then I kinda liked it so watched yt vids on it, and I watched some pros like Wumbo, and that made me want to get good at it lol, the same things happening with Pac-man for me 😂😂

Ok, btg, what if you create a large train with the train power, but then switch to strong mode as your eating that train?
Modes only activate after you eat a power pellet
