- The U.N. human rights office has asked the United Arab Emirates for evidence that an Emirati princess held against her will for almost three years is still alive.
The Geneva-based Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights said the case of Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed Al Maktoum was raised with the UAE's mission to the U.N. on February 18.
Sheikha Latifa, 35, has not been seen in public since she attempted to escape the emirate by sea in 2018, and said in a video aired by the BBC that she fears for her life.

I have lived in the UAE. You cannot speak against the authority over there. If you speak such things in the public, there are chances that some one will report you to the police.
well i live near there and it is a fascist country. So it's common for ppl to not speak against the authority. I guess the citizens don't care much about it cuz they are rich and government kinda cares about them at least financially. Also the government let's them abuse other ppl without any consequences so citizens are okay with their leaders.

I am from UAE. And i never knew about this.. I really apologize if this made you feel as if UAE is a bad country. We all are nice people here, some people here never even knew about this. I was reading some of the comments and most of them were like "In UAE women dont have any rights" and whatsoever, but we all do have the rights to do anything. But sadly some people like Princess Lathifa dont, before anyone of you people attack me, remember this is my opinion and im on Princess Lathifa's side too. If we all stop having a bad image of UAE and actually help then Princess Lathifa might be saved. 99% of people are like "#saveprincesslathifa" but only 1% of people are actually helping.
