Mate… great video!!! We just bought an OP Lite and still found this video more helpful than the sponsored ones. Particularly appreciate letting the camper inflate in real time because we’ve heard it’s so easy but we’ve had a couple teething issues from new, and all other how-to videos goto time lapse or cut that part altogether and just show the finished product. Well Done!!!
Hi. Just wanted to thank you for your setup and take down video. We’ve just bought the OP2 and we couldn’t figure out why it didn’t close. Really enjoyed your systematic way you explained both procedures. Feeling a lot better about set up and pack down now.
No problem, we have actually moved on from our OP2 to a hybrid off-road camper/caravan. We did enjoy our OP2 but we find our new van even more convenient.
Hi Cindy, while our OP2 was pretty easy to set up, we did out grow the amount of work required and wouldn't recommend it for a single female unless you were happy to leave the annex off and use only the camper itself. The annex is heavy to fold up on your own, especially flipping it up and into the trailer before closing the lid. Perhaps have a look at some of the other videos on our channel and see what we upgraded to. StarVision also have a smaller "Starvision 12" which we think is fantastic for a single person as it offers inside and outside kitchens as well as a full ensuite inside.
We recently bought a new OP2, and every time we put it up, it leans to the kitchen side of the trailer. To get the tent up correctly, we have to climb inside to physically push the air beams into place. This video and many other online shows the tent going straight up with minimal manual adjustments. Any thoughts on how to address this
Craig, fantastic demo, thank you. We are expecting our OP2 in the next month or so and are getting things organised. Probably a dumb question but what do you put on the ground when using the en-suite shower? Regards Andrew
Hey Andrew, fingers crossed for a speedy delivery. The ensuite floor comes supplied with the camper and clips into the corners using the fitted toggle and ring fasteners. It’s a solid vinyl floor with a mesh border so shower water can soak through. As for the Annex floor, you get a tub floor that Velcros into the annex but to be honest, hardly anyone uses it. We use a C-Gear mat 7.5m x 1.4m and that’s the perfect size as far as we are concerned.
Thanks, portable hot water system that I stored in the rear tunnel boot and hung on the back of the kitchen slide when we set up. Should be a post on one of the Opus facebook groups about it. (Search posts by Craig Nuttall or AusCamping)
Hi Jacob, we have sold our OP2 but I got the steps from TRA Australia and I reused the existing hardware. If you are on any of the Facebook opus groups, search for posts by “Craig Nuttall” and you’ll find all the mods we did. Hey Dominique, thanks for watching, our boy is a pretty active but well trained kelpie. Fencing is too much work in our minds and I don’t like the idea of restricting him to a crate. Head off to Bunnings and you can get a 10M roll of stainless steel balustrade wire rope. Grab a couple of small U clamps or crimp ends and you can create a small loop in each end. This is what we have and when we are setting up, packing up or at a location where he needs to be on leash, then we peg the wire rope down to the ground and we have a 2m leash with clips on both ends, one end on his collar the other on the wire and he has the ability to move around an area roughly 14M x 4M as he has 2M either side of the wire and the leash will slide the entire length of the wire. Also, because the wire is stretched out along the ground and pegged at each end, neither he or us get caught up on it when we’re moving around camp. You could do it cheaper with rope, but it doesn’t slide as easily. You could also save some money using a galvanised wire rope but the stainless steel wire rope just stays clean and rust free so we think it’s worth the extra up front cost. We use screw pegs to make sure he can’t dislodge the wire. I hope that helps, happy camping 👍
Craig, sorry to bother you with more questions now that you’ve moved on to another project. If you don’t mind… Do you pack up with the draft skirt on (over the control panel)? Do you put the “guide straps” above or under your CGear mat? Or do you not use them at all? You sage guidance would be appreciated. Thank you. Regards Andrew.
No problem, yes, the draft skirt stayed on all the time, it just folds up and over with the annex. Never used the guide straps as the C-Gear mat is the correct width so we just pulled the poles into the edge of the mat and pegged then at the edge through one of the inside loops. The guide straps were a bit of a pain, so we ended up cutting then off 👍
Thanks for the video. Very informative. I want to upgrade from a tent set up to a camper trailer, and your videos are very helpful. Leaning towards an OP2 and exploring SA and AUS. Quick question tho. How could I install a sirocco fan if there's no place to mount it? Cheers
Thanks for your kind comments, you would need a temporary mount for the sirocco fan in the OP2. Possibly a couple of Velcro straps that you can wrap around an air beam to “belt” it to the beam and then remove it for packing down. We enjoyed our OP2 but ended up selling it and moving to a StarVision CX3 Pro which is a hybrid camper. Perhaps it’s just us getting older but we were finding the OP2 was still a bit too much work for touring and doing overnight stops. I see you have subscribed to our channel so have a look at our CX3 overview and setup videos before you make your final decision. If we were to do it all over again, we would skip the canvas camper stage and just go straight from tents to the CX3 Pro. If you’re in SA already, there is a camping show in Adelaide next week. We have been invited to share our experiences with people at the StarVision stand so feel free to come and chat to us. I assume that Opus will be at the show also, so it’s a good opportunity for you to see different options side by side, chat to people who have owned both and who also started out in tents like you. Whatever you decide, it’s important that it is quick and easy if you want to continue enjoying it as you travel.
Hi Craig, really enjoyed your video setup. I'm hoping to take delivery of my OP2 in early October. I reckon I'll be watching this video quite a bit before heading out yonder with the new rig. Did you do any electrical mods? I have ordered mine with 2 Imperium 105AH Lithium batteries. Think I'll need a DC/DC charger for them. Would be interested in your opinion of them.
Thanks, be sure to check out our pack up video as well, that’s where we share our tips for getting the full annex and ensuite packed away easily. As for the electrical mods, yes we installed 2 x 105ah imperium lithium batteries, the initial batteries had a software problem but they were swapped out under warranty and the new batteries have been great. We installed an Enerdrive DC2DC40+ charger along with a dedicated Anderson input plug for connecting solar panels. We also added an Enerdrive ePro Plus battery monitor. The other electrical mod we did was to replace all the push button switches on the control panel, with toggle switches which we found more reliable after having a couple of failures with the push button ones. If you have a look at the Opus groups on Facebook and search my posts, (Craig Nuttall) you’ll see all of the mods we did to our OP2.
Yes, more work than a pop top, less work than a non air camper. We have since sold our OP2 and bought a pop top hybrid. Feel free to check out the other videos on our channel 👍
Smoke and mirrors. BTW. that annex is a stupid idea. Also that annex hides issues with the OP2 canvas. I can't zip up the door on my OP2 at all. There is also a problem with the rear side of canvas. It does not cover all corners the trailer. IMO, the op2 is a lemon. Get OP4 or OPLite.
Hi Joe, I think you should take your concerns to the manufacturer or dealer that you bought your OP2 from. My wife and I are simply sharing our set-up and pack-up methods for the benefit of other owners. We are owners ourselves, not manufacturers or sellers, (just owners) and we have no issues with our OP2. If you are having problems with the canvas fit, have a search through my posts on the opus owners forums and you will find advice on how to adjust the canvas position and air beam lengths to get everything lined up the way you want it and take any excess pressure off the zips so you can close your door. You only need to do it once and then everything is perfectly aligned every time you set it up. We played around with canvas alignment and air beam lengths one weekend while we were away camping in it and haven't had to adjust anything since. You certainly won't get your problems fixed by posting a rant on our video, we have no connection or affiliation with the manufacturer. I hope you get yours sorted out and get to enjoy it as much as we enjoy ours.
@@AusCamping Talked to Opus. They walked me through adjustments steps that did not work. Looked at all posts, not helpful. Whole canvas will have to be re-installed or replaced. Not a rant just a fact. People don't realize that the OP2 has inherent design flaw with the canvas. Just look at how canvas leans forward and the door leans forward with it and it is not upright as in the OP4 and the OP Lite. It is a setup video I get it but it completely hides the issue with OP2 canvas and that's NOT good.
Mate… great video!!! We just bought an OP Lite and still found this video more helpful than the sponsored ones. Great clip! My takeaway was the wee table stored beside the fridge, great tip.
Thanks, we have two of those tables stored across the front, very handy 👍

This has to be the best video on this camper on the internet. Thank you so much from the United States on making this as it helped me greatly
Also, does the ensuite and the awning room have a removable floor?
Thanks for your kind words.
This is a great walkthrough. Very informative and well done. Thanks for showing the inflation in real time
Thanks for the positive comments
We have a Winnebago Micro Minnie which I love but, the Opus trailers look amazing! Also much easier to take on Overland trips. Good video, thank you!
Everyone camps differently, as long as you find what suits you best, that’s all that matters. 🥰
We're looking at purchasing a second hand OP-4. Thanks for the informative demo.
Any time!

Try doing the set up on a muddy campsite in the rain…and cleaning the canvas after😮
