    I would throw myself of a cliff if that meant having a conversation with The Emperor. He was not a tyrant. He was just a man that cared for his own. A shame they did not care about him. Long live the ideals of Napoleonic France! Long live his legacy!

      Its a shame that people compare him to Hitler, Stalin or Genghis Khan.Even though he did commit a few massacres, like the Jaffa massacre. But these were exceptions, and even in that he had his view why he did it. Overall he was a tolerant and a great conqueror.

    • @ConfusedRevolutionary

      @ It brings me joy to realize I am not alone in this assessment. Human beings are complex and full of paradoxes, especially those judged as tyrants, therefore it would be unwise to deal in terms such as good or evil. If there’s anything that I learned from studying history among other academic subjects is that the most significant and until this day remembered human beings were just as willing to be majestically heroic and willing to show compassion just as they were willing to hurt their enemies and people that they cared for.

    • @HistoryBasis
      @HistoryBasis 23 дні тому +1

      @@ConfusedRevolutionary True, history is not fantasy movies like Avengers etc, where good guys always do good stuff and cant do bad stuff. We humans always contradict each other. The better way to judge us is by the scales of our deeds i.e comparing our good deeds with our bad deeds. Thats the reason why we view Napolean in more positive way, in contrast to Hitler or Stalin.

      @ I would love to keep this discussion going forward but as you likely know discussion such as these lead to censorship nowadays. Having said that I feel we would likely agree in many things. It’s always nice to encounter an intellectual, not like ones I have encountered here in California. Bless you.

      @@ConfusedRevolutionary Thanks man, not just in our areas, in the internet in general, people in comment section act like as if they are some historians who can dictate what is correct in their history. When you give them some evidence, they get mad and just cant accept the truth. But anyways see you!

      In a certain way Napoleon was the son of the precepts of equality that were one of the main republican and revolutionary values who wrote the first liberal constitution of Europe. That someone who was a relative nobody reached the highest levels of power mainly due to his merits and capabilities or abilities and not because he was born into a wealthy or privileged class, as was the usual trend since monarchies arose. And that is why despite in some ways Napoleon regenerated in some ways those. values . but it spread throughout Europe that conquered all the revolutionary precepts through its Napoleonic code, changing European mentality, laying the seed of liberal constitutionalism in a large part of Europe that would be born decades later in the mid-19th centuries and destroying the old ideas of the aristocratic system in much of Europe.

      Translate this letter was written by Napoleone while studing in France....
      Francesi, non paghi di averci portato via tutto ciò che ci era caro, avete anche corrotto i nostri costumi.
      La situazione attuale della mia patria, e l'impossibilità di mutarla, sono dunque un nuovo motivo per fuggire una terra in cui sono obbligato per dovere, a lodare uomini che per virtù dovrei invece odiare. Quando arriverò nella mia terra, che atteggiamento adottare, che linguaggio tenere? Quando la patria non è più, un buon patriota deve morire. »

      Date is important 1787 before the Revolution not only Napoleon couldn't move up socially because not from a high noble aristocracy background but there was no wars and no prospect of future. Adoption of the ideals of France after the revolution is what made him French and patriotic towards France crowning himself Empereur des Français and Re d'Italia@@carlogrignaschi8773
