My absolute pleasure mate as always! You did really well mate, picked up that old Dutch rudder quickly! 😉 I’m still picking bramble thorns out of my hands!!! 😂 can’t wait for your vid! 😁
I now need to find Andy's version of this overnight trip. The both of you are such a comedic team to watch when traveling together. Of course the cooking is always a treat, but my favorite part of this video was the branches taking your hat. The two of you always offer so much to learn in your videos. Keep up the great work creating and I look forward to binge watching more videos of you like I have Kent Survival.
At first I thought that Andy didn;t know how to paddle a canoe ... THEN I realized he was HUNGRY and checking the banks for a place to stop for lunch! Nice video, thanks for sharing, and watch the low spots to protect cameras, and the occasional hat. LOL
Interesting! Raised on Tabasco Sauce myself. Excellent for our traditional scalloped oysters for the holidays. Been trying others now. Fun experimenting!
Andy was doing pretty good until you guys came to the dead end. But looks like you guys had a good time and the food looks fantastic. I enjoyed the trip with you
Love it. Am impressed with Andy’s humiliation! There was me thinking Andy was excellent at everything. By the end of this video I’m sure he will be. Inspirational as ever, can’t wait to get out camping myself (I don’t do winter camping!)
Recently discovered you and Andy’s channels. I’m so glad I did. I usually learn something and it’s very peaceful. You guys are hilarious together keep up the good work I know this video is old but still wanted to comment
Andy is clearly drunk by that paddling lolol You guys are great...loads of fun and good food...Thanks for taking me on yet another camp out xo from Canada
Hi Simon. That trip looked excellent. I can't believe you let Andy use your canoe!!!!! Superb meal cooked by both of you which looked delicious. I'll keep a look out for Andy's version of events!!!! Thanks for bringing us along. ATB
Fantastic Simon! I think I enjoyed this more than anything you've done. Just two buddies laughing and having a good time. Life is good! The dutch oven reminds me of our elk camp meals. Be safe! Roger--Colorado.
I love how Mr Kent Survival REALLY emphasised how long that venison took to cook, whereas in your vid, it just breezes by... It's easy to tell who was the hungriest... :P
Great video Simon! I agree with David Huxtable, probably the "worst pre preparation for Sweden I've ever seen". Seriously you, particularly Andy, will be in big trouble on a windy lake with waves. I hope you will be going in small streams like this one. Lakes are an entirely different animal and you need experience and skill to handle the wind and waves. Tell Andy to hold the handle of the paddle from the top like you do and take a longer, stronger stroke. Sweden lakes will probably be extremely cold this time of year - not a good time to capsize. Please be careful!
Thanks Rachel. I have some lake paddling experience, but Andy hasn’t - this the practice paddle to at least give him a chance to use the J stroke. We picked it up quickly and by the second day was controlling the boat well - a different kettle of fish on an open lake in the wind, I know, but it’s a start! We’re not going into this blindly, fully aware of the risks and hazards and we will assess our situation continuously and adjust our plans accordingly. He’ll be fine, and if the wind picks up, we’ll head for shore, we may even opt for one canoe, paddling tandem as yet, but we’d both prefer solo.
Getting into my favorite season for camping videos. I've heard the UK is usually just wet and miserable this time of year, but it's always a treat to see people make a cozy time of it regardless. Thanks for making the videos!
@@simonablokeinthewoods hope you 2 are on good terms id live to see yall and Lundy bushcraft do a camp one time but its cool to see you 2 camp together 😃
Another great video Simon. The food looked great even though you had to wait a long time for the venison to cook. Glad Andy got the hang of solo canoeing...it will help in Sweden.
Great video Simon good to see Andy with you, fantastic grub as well, you where in a area I know really well, you camped about 3 miles from where I live across the fields, you both are my favourite UA-cam bushcrafters , really enjoyed this one , thanks for sharing 👍
That was so fun to watch! You guys cracked me up! And you have some crazy rivers over there! Those bridges you went under were pretty cool too. They look really old. Thanks for taking us along. :-D
I've just watched Andy's video of this adventure (In alphabetical order of course!) There's not much more that I can add so I'll say it in one word. AWESOME! Really looking forward to your Sweden trip Simon. As always mate, Take care, Steve.👍👍🍺🍺🛶🛶
What great trip, even with the rain. You and Andy are both terrific cooks and it is fun to watch you create your delicious meals. That wooden canoe is gorgeous! Your Swedish trip is going to be fun to watch - worth waiting for. Good for Andy for learning so quickly - but I'm not surprised.
My two favorite channels collaborating again! So tell us what we all what to know, who was the big spoon and who was the little one? 😂. That dinner and breakfast looked divine! Definitely going to try that this Sunday. Great video as always Simon 👍
Well that was 40 minutes well spent. Thank you for a great video. Not only do you make the bushcraft look so easy, you also find the time to put in some great video work so we get to share the experience with you!
Great overniter guys! Awesome meals....I used a DD Travel Hammock and 3X3 meter tarp on a three week paddle down the Yellowstone river years ago...they make great gear...hang in there Andy, the J Stroke will become a natural motor skill after awhile...awesome video Simon...as always...woods
Thanks Woods! He did well didn’t he, he was paddling nice and straight by the end - a bit of fine tuning here and there, but I’d say he’s got it ‘licked’ 👍
Looked like a fun and relaxed trip, thanks for taking us along but... You've always come across as a decent bloke but lending out that canoe!?!? A proper gent, and a lucky guest Andy is :-) That said, I guess you could always make another one... Eventually... Thanks for taking us along. Chris.
As I remember the Wantsum is the only stretch of water that keeps Thanet an 'Isle'! Great video as usual and great food too! Nice to see the Kent/Norfolk combo going well! Looking forward to the next one!
Hi Simon, Just found your channel, have really enjoyed your videos. It's interesting to see new kit I've never seen before. You inspire. Looking forward to more from you.
A very enjoyable video, Simon, as usual. You present your videos so professionally. they are so relaxing, humorous and instructive. Of all the outdoor videos that I watch, yours are by far the best. About a year ago my misses put me on a Slimming World diet, and I am still on it. After watching you cook such delicious meals on your open wood fire I get hungry and want to partake of the grub you have just so expertly cooked, but there's bugger all in my fridge except for diet food.. It's really quite cruel. Keep up the good work, mate. Happy paddling!!
Cheers Ian!, To be honest I don’t eat like this at home! My wife is a vegetarian and to quote Samuel L. Jackson, ‘that pretty much makes me a vegetarian’ so any chance I get to have some red meat and I’m there! Thank god for fry light though eh!! 😁
Looks like a nice trip, i don't want to repeat, but what the heck?? You gave Andy the home built cedar canoe!!!! and watched him crash in to the bank over and over!!! I was cringing as you went through that metal covert! No worries Andy, were all just poking some fun . You both ate like Kings as usual. Another great episode Simon! Thanks to both you and Andy!
That looked like an awesome adventure. It has been a long time since I have used a canoe. Used to go on the Little Miami River lot when I was younger. Thanks for sharing another great video!
Nice paddle and campout, fellas. The venison looked delicious. I'm with Andy and ketchup, I grew up putting ketchup on scrambled eggs but now use hot sauce most often. All the best, Gordon
We don't have cheese in tubes much in the States. Remember them in Scandinavia. Wish I was watching you guys when I was in theater doing British accent. Nuance, not over the top. Surprised by your Canadian style J stroke. Well done. In Minnesota, we weren't allowed to touch paddle to gunwalds. More efficient.
Did anyone else happen to notice the large phallic object that’s drawn on the can of Haze around 21:30 in marker?!? Either Andy or Northern Monk have been busy with the Sharpie!!! Simon certainly seems oblivious to it!!! 🤣
It looks like Andy learned the art of 'portage'. Question, Simon... Are these natural waterways, or canals?? Several shots show very long, straight runs. Dinner looked delicious!! What was Andy's b'fast recipe?? Will he post it on his site?? Great memories made all the better with your good mate along. Looks as though you guys had fun!! Looking forward to your trip to Sweden. I believe it is a natural waterway, but it has a confusing number of channels running off from the main course (one of which we ended up paddling down to that dead end! 😂🛶 You’ll have to ask Andy for his mountain man breakfast! 😁
Enjoyable video again, thanks for posting it, always good to see friends out having a good time, a rare thing in today's busy world. Hope the deer hide was tanned for later use.
I've only done a little canoeing , But would not some type of leash on the handle of the paddle be useful . Maybe a short one attached to the wrist. Of course a small emergency backup paddle might be in order for longer trips .Thanks for the VIDS guys. I'll catch you both on the next one. Which i have a nice back log to enjoy.
I saw a show on a public TV station in about 2008 that was about how hot peppers migrated from central America to Spain ; he tried a number of peppers to see how hot they were, he said to get the burn out of your mouth that lots of water did not stop the burning but that swishing some Tequila in your mouth stopped the burning instantly

This video has several humorous moments, but the hat-grabbing vine, beginning at 9:02, takes the cake. It is a hilarious triumph of plant over man.
Thanks again for getting me on track for Sweden mate, was great little overnighter and paddle! (and as always lots of great food haha)

Yes indeed - you took the words out of my mouth. :D

Canoeing and hammock camping.......can't think of a better combination. :)
Nothing better than a nights fire, good friends, good food. A warm sleep.
You two are just a fun time to watch and learn from. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Thank you.
Beer from Hazey and cooking like John and Tyson what a splendid evening.
Really enjoyed looking back at you and Andys exploits. You two fellas always eat and drink well when you get together.. More! More!!!

You might want to do a J stroke tutorial. It amazes me that no one seems to know it.
Paddling, camping and eating delicious food with a good friend, nothing better! Thanks for sharing!
