People who aren't "getting" it. Superego is an improvised podcast. Nerdist is putting up animated versions of some of their stuff. Close your eyes and just listen if it looks weird. Or go away.
***** Well, it's a top notch improv podcast endorsed by people we do find funny and IMO it hasn't turned out well as an animated short. I would have the same opinion as you were I jumping into it cold as well.
***** I liked the video, but I'm on your side here. Of course your opinion is subjective, and of course people liking the video doesn't make it objectively good.
I'll defend Superego to the death against anybody who says they aren't funny (because they are AWESOME). I'm starting to feel, however, that these animations aren't doing as good a job as I'd like of translating their material to a visual medium. I don't know if it's the animation style, or something they've done to the audio is throwing off the comedic timing, or if (like the Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy movie) I'm just already familiar with the material on the one hand, and on the other I don't like what they've added in the adaptation process as much. I bet if I went back and listened to this sketch in podcast form I'd appreciate it more than I am now as a cartoon. I still like it, but something is missing somehow.
I dig Superego. But as an actual therapist, I've gotta call into question their choice of subject matter. BPD? Huh. Didn't get that. Also, which of the crew here is supposed to be the Borderline? I couldn't pick 'em out. I do love absurdist comedy, however, and while it was bizarre, some of it was admittedly funny. Start with the Giger one, if, like me, you're new to the Superego animations. It's hysterical. Again, I'm not 100% on Paranoid for his brand of personality disorder, or just mental illness. Potentially Schizotypal, or just Delusional Disorder NOS (non-specified). Good stuff, though.
Their whole catalogue is on howl.fm, hours of this. I love this podcast. But to answer that therapist question, they've said that all this façade of analysis is just a way to present their characters. You'll notice that there isn't any analysis, just Jeremy Carter's voice (I think) announcing the sketch.
The voice acting was admirable, but the comedy was a little...not comedy. Although I totally would have bought a "Cake Holder" action figure when I was a youngster. Mainly because I wasa fat kid and loved cake.
I don't think they were making a joke about injured vets, but a joke about how badly kids would treat their G.I.Joe toys. I remember kids strapping fireworks to their Joes to simulate explosions was a big thing, and every kid I knew who had Joes eventually broke the rubber band inside that held them all together.
To be honest I don't even think they were making any jokes about actual Veterans or the toys I think they were just throwing ideas around when they did their improvisation session
Paul F. rules so much

***** Correction: it's not funny to *you*. Enough people find it funny for it to have made it this far.

***** Yeah. For anyone who is able to pay attention, it's a gift as far as entertainment goes.
***** It's not Superego's fault you were born with brain damage, so it's kinda unfair to blame them for that.

Now you know and knowing is approximately 48.7% of the battle.

That being said I'd be willing to support a spin-off series starring Maxtot, Tomax and Xamot's Triplet They Don't Never Talk About
Love the appearances of the MST3K guys.
W/ Paul F. Tompkins... For 5 seconds, as a person with a window for a face.
This is maybe my favourite Superego sketch.
Manilow is my new favorite Joe.
Please do God's Crazy Monsters next.
I’m rooting for you Pot Roast
Hi ,The Althena owns G.I. Joe and it's trademark. Thank you. May 2016 May.
I'm frightened and confused. Make it stop.
Awesome! Yo, Joe! ^_^
Some of the voice sound like Bill Corbett. But I doubt its him.
Please be careful around my face!
I would like this, but it has 420 likes. why mess with perfection?
Nice cameo from T-man as Pot Rost!
Who did the voice for Cobra Commander here? That was perfect.
Joe Jessup Matt gourley.
LOL awesome!
Potroast did really well considering he was on sand.
I thought it was funny

Cool haha no one can say first now
You would be surprised, they will do it no matter what

Does it help the comedy if you knew it was all improvised?
Sorry guys, good effort but not funny
When does this get funny?
I want my 5 mins back
so was this supposed to be funny or what?
what.
Somebody went through a lot of trouble for no laughs.
Not really funny. Kind of insulting to injured vets, too.
Well, if I was a veteran of the GI Joe / Cobra conflict, I'd be pretty upset by this.
I don't think they were making a joke about injured vets, but a joke about how badly kids would treat their G.I.Joe toys. ***** yeah i did all those horrible things to my joes and i think u r right they r making fun of the way we played with our joes not injured vets
To be honest I don't even think they were making any jokes about actual Veterans or the toys I think they were just throwing ideas around when they did their improvisation session
yea, really not funny and kinda insulting
