Hope you enjoyed hearing about my personal experiences on the Norwegian Bliss - and this is just a reminder that these likes and dislikes are based on my my preferences and travel style. So they may not be the same for you! 🙂
We sailed on Bliss last year in Alaska and will be doing a Mexican Riviera trip in 2 weeks. Thanks for the video. Just a note : You can refill your water bottles from the dispensers - they just don't want you putting the mouth of your cup/bottle to the dispenser for sanitation reasons. Just use a clean glass from the rack, fill it with water, and pour the water into your water bottle. Same with coffee - use one of their small coffee cups to fill up a larger reusuable coffee/travel mug. The water in your stateroom is also perfectly clean and drinkable.
Note to mention about buffet bars. Back in 2003 we went on NCL out of Charleston SC and they had hand sanitizer stations at beginning of buffets and had stuff spraying ur hands with s timers upon all embarkations. In 2007 we took Carnival out of Miami. They did not do this at all. I got the flu the Thursday before cruise ended on Saturday. I was up Thursday night coughing but didn't feel that bad and didn't feel like I had a fever. I went to buffet for breakfast then sat in on disembark speech. When we got to room I told my husband how to pick luggage. By 2pm he called medical to see if I could be seen. My temp was 103 at that time. Had the flu. Im sure I got it lying on float at beach. Put on quarantine which sucked as it was my bday. My husband had to get them to bring my chocolate cake and bottle of champagne to my cabin. When I got to customs in Miami the next morning the guy asked if I had anything to declare. I said yep a bottle of champagne and the flu....he looked at me and said u can go. He couldn't get me out of there fast enough. I wish Carnival had hand sanitizer at buffet. No telling how many people I gave the flu to beside my husband.
Great video! Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts about your Norwegian Bliss cruise to the Mexican Riviera. I appreciate how you presented both the things you liked and disliked during your trip. I agree that everyone has different preferences when it comes to cruising, but your insights will definitely add some context for those who plan to sail on the Norwegian Bliss or explore the Mexican Riviera itinerary. Keep up the excellent work!
Thank you for sharing. Your right it’s not for everyone! But they are ton of fun for us! You always pack in so Much great info and insight. I’m so Glad that you did this series. NO WATER! That would not be ideal. But the food and wine looked great!
wow! What a bummer about the beer! I've never heard of a ship running out of beer before! Wow! too bad about the bottled water too. That's a main reason I like drink packages is for the bottled water being included also. I agree about the food. Specialty dining is nice, but not necessary. Ship food is usually amazing at the free locations. I love the color scheme of your room. I'm also a balcony girl. It's refreshing to see it had so much storage space. smart tip about the magnetic hooks.
We are sailing on the Norwegian Bliss in July to Alaska. Your video was very helpful. Lastly, the way to fill your water bottles at the buffet is easy. As explained by a worker on the Norwegian Epic last summer, use the provided plastic cups. Fill the cup and then pour the water and/or ice from the cup directly into your bottle.
Glad they could be helpful! Hope you enjoy your cruise. We saw that too - not many people took that extra step (at least the ones we saw) they should just have specific "waterbottle" refilling stations that get cleaned multiple times a day throughout the ships. But there are ways if you get creative.
I have already done a cruise between Helsinki and Stockholm and I was really delighted by this experience despite the short duration of the trip, I would like to do it again but for a longer distance and with several stops and places to visit like you did, thanks for sharing your experience and the tips about cruise.
I like how your main dislike was that there wasn't enough beer. That essentially means that you had no complaints 😉. I'm so impressed that Alan uploaded every day while on the ship. That makes me feel so lazy. I have so much trouble posting while traveling. Glad you guys enjoyed your cruise experience so much!
Haha yes we were really looking for "dislikes" and it was such a good cruise experience it was hard to find any. That was a minor inconvenience and wasn't even an inconvenience since there were so many other options! I didn't do any editing while on the ship if that makes you feel better 😉
I've watched a couple of your videos (about the Bliss in particular) and some videos from another UA-cam channel creator (about cruising with Norwegian in general). You're both providing lots of good information, and as semi-experienced cruisers (two cruises, one each with RCL and Carnival), it's really helpful. My wife and I are scheduled on the Bliss for a 15-day Panama Canal cruise in December (early 40th anniversary gift to ourselves). We booked a balcony stateroom that is the same class (BA) as yours and we're really looking forward to our cruise. I'm definitely going to keep looking through your reviews of the various aspects of the Bliss, to maximize our enjoyment. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much! I appreciate that. I hope you enjoy your pre-milestone celebrations. My husband and I really like Norwegian and have done Royal and Princess before. It's a bit of a different experience... more laid back than Royal but not as laid back as Carnival from what I have heard. That itinerary sounds awesome!
Wow! Cruising is so fun! Thanks for your experience and detailed insights, it will be really helpful for people who are visiting this. We will definitely keep this in mind for future trip
What a great video. The cabins looked to be a great size and I would have taken the premium wifi too! I'm happy to hear you didn't get seasick. I haven't taken a long boat trip I don't think I would be sick but I never know. Thank you for you great video! I hope to one day take a cruise!
The elevator would not have been a big problem for me, I always take the stairs... 😜 The water, I think I would hate to buy expensive water! But overall you sure had a great experience! Service is also an important one! Great the way you put this video together! 😁👍
Thank you for breaking down these different categories of comments. I hate it when people complain about things that have nothing to do with the cruise line or the ship
Those safes are soooo tiny! I do wish they were at least large enough for a laptop. That really is a bummer about the beer, but it sure doesn't sound like you let that ruin your good time ☺️ I am impressed your husband was able to upload YT videos. We had internet on our recent cruise...and there is no way anything would have uploaded on that 😆
I am booked on the Norwegian Bliss in May 2024 to Alaska! I cannot wait to see this beautiful ship, especially all those beautiful windows with the fantastic views in the front of the ship!
Oops yep - meant the brewhouse. Their draught beer selection was limited on day 1 and by day 2 so many beers were out including the IPAs... by the 4th/5th day even less selection.
Mmm snotty buffet food lol. It's amazing how many moving parts there are to a cruise ship. I've always heard great things about cruise ship food. Particularly the speciality places. The shows sound like a lot of fun. I really loved Jersey Boys when I saw it in Vegas. I'd probably only sleep in a room with a balcony. That access to fresh air would be thoroughly needed.
The bliss is awesome have travel on this one 4 times just a different location each time is awesome. Love the observation lounge and treats there also love. The fish 🐟 🐠 on the carpet to tell you which way is front and back of the ship 🚢 love the manhattan’s dinning room they are always willing to please you if and item on your entree you can replace. Or if a dessert is not on the nightly menu they make it possible when requested. Great amazing food and staff. Now I’m on the Encore to Alaska and same experience A+
Great videos, we are about to go on the Bliss for the same 7 day Riviera. About the water, do you recommend buying the water package? How strict were they about using their fountains to fill your own water bottle? Thanks
I would personally get a water package if we were going again to have water in my cabin or to go ashore. I only saw one person being asked not to use the water fountain for their bottles. And lots of others who did, that didn't get stopped. But there are signs right on the dispenser saying not to refill reusable bottles. But we made do just getting 2 glasses of ice water each at the end of the night and taking it back to our cabin.
I think it depends on the type of weather you're looking for. It might be on the cooler side for the area, but depending on where you're travelling from, it could still be warmer than at home.
My 2 sons, and their wives took me on my first cruise on the Norwegian Bliss when it was brand new, and it was fabulous! My favorite food buffet was at the Taste of India, since I am a vegetarian, and their food was just right for me. Then, in addition to that, the buffet also served veggie burgers, made from scratch, and those were also fantastic. We were able to actually go swimming, at St Thomas, and wow! We could actually see our feet, while in the water, and that isn't available, where I live, in Texas.
Great feedback of your experience on the cruise. It’s really strange that you can’t refill waterbottles…surely that should be encouraged 🙈 Glad that the food was good, but Craig would also be super disappointed if they were out of craft beer 😬
I think it would be a pretty good balance. I'm not even sure how much "party" there really is. We only stayed up late to go to the silent disco once and then mostly hung out after dinner at the brewery or where they had good live music. And during the day they had activities at the pool but they never got really rowdy that we noticed.
@@TheAverageTourist do I guess by party I mean do they theme parties or for instance 80 ‘s party. That’s what I mean by party. Lol. We are trying to figure out who has a balance. Where you’re not going to see a bunch of off the hook drunks lol 😝 maybe just a little drunk. 😆
Haha oh gotcha! There were some of those. I think one was the "white party" where everyone wore white. And a few other themes. But in case it's not obvious, we didn't participate 🤣🤣
Uhhh I hate when cruises do the old "oh you have to pay for your own water" trick, should be one of the few things that are included in the price! Though at least they made up for it with the fabulous food I suppose! I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless!
We were on the Bliss to Alaska last year we like it so much we are booked on a Panama Canal. We compared this ship to the Carnaval Panorama and Holland America Eurodam we had previously cruised on. The carnival cruise while food was excellent entertainment was lacking and the atmosphere are the pool was way too loud with booming not live music really was off putting for us but many like that. The Bliss for us was perfect, while the music was loudish are the pool it was live and very good. The stage performance were outstanding and the Beetle cover band was fantastic and I'm not a huge Beetles fan. But my absolute favorite was the Thermal Suite, we always get a spa cabin or pass to thermal suites this alone was one of my main reasons for choosing another Bliss cruise. Not many dislikes however I felt their balcony cabins were a little bit small than other ships, not a deal breaker and the hallways were also a bit narrower. Not having a dedicated Pizza place or a burger place the included food venues are great and we tend to book through Costco and get some specialty dining and sometimes purchase additional, while the included dining as great doing some specialty dining is in most cases off the chart. I agree the staff and service is also fantastic we haven't had time to do the comedy but I'm sure we will on the 15 night Panama cruise also going with daughter and her husband really looking forward to a bucket list trip.Love your Channel...
Thanks so much!! Appreciate the info. I've never cruise with Holland America or Carnival but I'd love to give them a try to see what thr experience is like. We've done Royal Caribbean and Princess before. Princess was aimed at an older crowd in my opinion but we like Royal and Nowrwegian for the entertainment options. Although Princess had great food. A 15 night Panama cruise would be a dream for me!! Hope you have a wonderful time 🙌
Hi I’m taking a cruise on the Bliss in July I’m really thinking about getting the thermal spa, do you think it would be good for an Alaskan cruise? Also, did you pay for the entire trip or just a day pass (if those are even available)? It’s pricey so trying to see what my options are and if it’s worth it thank you
@@DarlaRodriguez-c9w Hi, at the time we were on the Bliss we booked a spa balcony cabin which included the thermal suite for the length of the cruise to Alaska, it was our first cruise with NCL and the Bliss. The thermal suite was nothing short of spectacular not just the amenities but the views out the back of the ship while lounging on the heated loungers was amazing. NCL recently discontinued the spa category which is sad since that is why I book that type of cabin but in doing so I am guessing there will be more opportunities to book daily and weekly passes. I don't think the cost is outrageous and if that is the type of experience you enjoy it is well worth it. For me starting my day in the thermal pool with the most powerful jets I have ever seen was wonderful and rarely were there many people in there making it even more relaxing. Compared to other ships we have been on and tried their thermal suites, Carnival and Holland America, the Bliss is by far the best I have ever seen. The Encore I believe is the same also. If you do decide to book it you won't be disappointed. Enjoy
Only major problem we have had on any cruise is now that China is open, the people from there have NO training on how to queue up/get in line. They would see long lines for the buffet and just push their way to the front. Tour package sales people need to instruct proper courtesy to new travelers.
*DISLIKES:* (not cruiseline specific) 1) *Lax dress code for Main Dining in particular.* Cruiselines spend a lot of money, and put a lot of effort trying to make Main Dining a 'fine dining' experience. We spend a lot of money taking a cruise, and innapropriate attire ruins the experience. 2) Along with #1 regarding the Main Dining.... *Cruiselines should enforce a zero tolerance dress code against leggings/yoga pants being worn as outterwear anywhere.* It's not apprpriate. 3) Cruiselines have a done a great job encouraging the washing of hands...but the woman in this video is correct to point out that serving utensils are the number one place for germ transfer between guests. *Cruiselines should have staff regularly wipe down these serving utensils.* 4) Chair hogging continues to be a real annoyance on the pool deck.

I booked it. Just noticed that: in Mazatlán, Mexico from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM 😧🥺

Oh yeah they were a great buy, added so much wall space to hang things up neatly.

I guess use a clean cup and then pour it into the bottle... we didn't use reusable bottles.
This part is a big problem for me. Don’t understand why they don’t include water with the drink package 😞I’m packing a pitcher with me for refills 🤣

*Cruiselines should have staff regularly wipe down these serving utensils.*
4) Chair hogging continues to be a real annoyance on the pool deck.
