    Did a trip in a -66. Letting go of the cyclic when I switched on the autopilot was the hardest thing I have ever done in a helicopter.

    Excellent video. The AP and wing level buttons are very useful when the problems start piling up.

    Thankfully autopilots in helicopters are more available now than a few years back, however I suspect that many flight schools still do not have them in their trainers. Your point that a pilot must make an immediate decision to engage the autopilot is a vital piece of advice. Don't start trying to program the NAV systems until the aircraft is in stable flight. I think your student was totally amazed and lost while watching you programing the GPS for the approach. Even with your skill and knowledge you inadvertently caused an unexpected turn. In IMC this could easily cause a pilot to get disoriented and lose trust in the autopilot. Goes back to weather avoidance and good ADM. Enjoyed your video! Keep your rotor in the green...
