Rob is 100000% right about needing players with personality. That’s how pb will grow. Love or hate Lea, fans are talking about her and talking about pickle. That’s what we need

This is a classical example of what is wrong with sports and society today. Do you want pickleball to become the NFL and NBA where taunting is out of control? Is this what you want to teach kids about sportsmanship? But that's what happens. A player in the NFL scores a touchdown or makes a good play and then they taunt there opponent which results in a confrontation (sometimes physical). Well they get "a penalty" so big deal. But in the 8 year old football league the players learn from the pros then they do the same taunting which results in fights and physical confrontation. If that's what you want, you are only thinking of pros and how to make money. When you are the top athletes in a sport have should some integrity and not have the street mentality. I'm not saying everyone has to be Ben or JW and be like ATP. Go ahead and be emotional but when you taunt the other players and go at other players you are not serving the sport nor the future of the sport well all so you can make more money now. Disgraceful and the taunting and chirping needs to be seriously toned down. ps. High fives are fine but what's happening now, fans don't like regardless of what you think.

I am all for the players screaming and yelling in excitement of a good shot by themselves or their partner. Give high fives, be energetic. But do not disrespect the other team, the refs, or the fans.

If games continue like that singles gold match with Connor Garnett and Fed Staksrud in April and Todd and Waters at Atlanta, I definitely would agree that singles might become the main feature! The whole definition of the court could become more and more like the relationship between the ping pong table and the area that surrounds it.

Why the hell doesn't Rob do what he's saying players need to do to get the fans engaged? He's in full control of getting unhinged any time he wants while he's playing.

have to admit I'm in disagreement with Nunnery about needing the players to amp up drama in pickleball. but this is the order in which I prioritize watching certain players: 1) they have high skill and are entertaining (this is only a couple of people); 2) they have high skill; 3) they are athletic (even if they might not medal regularly or even get to the quarters) and there is something about their play style, personality (or doubles partnership) that I genuinely admire (this is the large majority of people I follow); 4) they have a high growth trajectory and I want to follow their story... I get turned off to players who I associate with bad sportsmanship or behavior that I feel is like marketing click-bait. I'm actually not really sure how to get more rec players to watch pro pickleball. I honestly find all the stats on that to be really really weird. I don't really expect non pickleball players to start watching pro pickleball...

Laya Jansen & Callie are annoying. Rude behavior is not fun for the fans. Rude behavior is not “ energy”. The crowd was against the rudeness of Laya .

Ben is the best in singles (and all other events) and it’s not even close. He just doesn’t hustle and seems to lack motivation at times which imo is the main reason for his recent losses. Coming to championship Sunday as a number 2 seed was motivation enough this time. Record set straight for whomever was doubting… Good job Rob for calling Ben by his name. Best to watch matches before commenting on them though… 😉

lol sorry, but you can’t call someone the best, but then in the next sentence say he doesn’t hustle enough. You do realize that being a “goat” requires you to be on everytime you step on the court, right? I NEVER once saw Michael Jordan yawning on the basketball court and acting like he had better things to do… 😂

Ben is the GOAT in singles. He is getting pushed extremely hard in singles right now and it is very close. Fed is very consistent and the best are consistent. Ben has not been consistent regardless of why he isn't consistent.

Rob's advocacy of players being "unhinged" is a really bad faith argument. Think that through- players put on an act in order to rev up the crowd or intimidate a ref or an opponent? That's total bullshit. The minute I see players acting in bad faith on the court, or using poor sportsmanship is the moment I stop watching the sport. Adam is a great announcer and analyst of the game, by the way.
But if Rob's vision comes to pass, and ANY league incentivizes so-called unhinged behavior, the sport will be far worse for it. He sounded like a high school dropout with no ability to think things through logically.
