    i had the exact same car as you .looked amazing i had probs with dpf on occasions but the worst thing for me was the bloody electric parkbrake omg kept refusing to disengage so couldnt drive anywhere without disconnecting it but still loved the car 👍

      I have heard about the electric parking brake issue. It's not happened to me (yet!). There is an issue with the J-gate selector (solenoid failure I think) that can also disable the car. Again, it's not happened to me yet. Just to balance the conversation I should mention that a BMW M535i once stranded me on the Swanage Chain Ferry. I was unceremoniously pushed off by the crew and left to troubleshoot why the car would not start in foul weather. That turned out to be a cracked fuse panel in the engine bay! Never a dull moment...

    At one point in this video my Canadian ear can't quite make out what you are saying. Are you saying, "gator cone" 3:13? What is a gator cone and what does it "go across"? Many thanks!

      Hi - opps - actually my bad! Actually, checking back I have conflated two separate issues. The first being the replacement of BOTH wishbone arms (parts C2C39585 / C2C39586) at the rear and the second being the replacement of a perished gaitor (part XR830015) on the steering rack. What was annoying is that the wishbone arms have flanges that can't be replaced on their own (mine had failed apparently) necessitating the purchase of the entire wishbone arms! Apologies for my error and confusion and thank you for picking up on this and providing me the opportunity to clarity.

    I have the superv8 from 2004 which is my daily car.the 350 is a superb car.had a 3.5 v8 when it was just 4 years old.swapped it for a 08 plate xf with 2.7 diesel.good engines but diesels not for me so swapped that and went older to the super v8 i have now.these are the last and best jags to me.dont like modern ones.have had over 20 xj saloons,series 3s,one a v12,lots of 40s,theyre great to,300s and 308s but the 350 is my favorite by far.enjoyed your video.👍

      @@ivanfernyhough3851 Thanks. Yes - quite a few things appreciating Jag-wise 🙂. I am a JEC member and organised the 2016 Duxford XJS (and other guests Jaguars) where we saw over 70 cars attend. The JEC, Mercedes UK, and XJS club are all great clubs 👍.

      Hi, you have so much experience with jag. One question, my v12, majestic 6.0 litre need around one liter of oil per 1000 kilometers. Is it OK for you?

    • @toooldclassics
      @toooldclassics  Рік тому +1

      @@flodurpups9846 Hi, I used to have a Daimler Six that used to consume around 1 pint of oil per 1,000 miles. It had some very minor leaks and used to blow smoke on start-up due to worn valve stem seals that really needed replacing. Your V12 Majestic is special: we don't have many in the UK. You might want to check for any oil leaks: the oil pressure switch can leak where it recesses into the engine. Check at the back of the engine: there is a rope seal that often leaks. The cam covers can also leak too. If the engine is running ok, then the next time it has a major service that includes all the spark plugs: consider a compression test on all 12 cylinders when replacing the spark plugs. Low compression could be caused by worn piston rings if the engine has covered a high mileage or slightly warped cylinder heads caused by overheating (unlikely as the oil would probably be contaminated by coolant ingress). Hopefully, the oil loss is down to minor oil leaks and valve stem seals (maybe she blows some blue smoke briefly at start-up). Hope this helps!

    Love Jaguar's!!!!!!. I own a 2006 4.2 v8 sovereign and absolutely love it, yes it's my daily and compared to the diesel variant of the xj's not alot of problems 😉. A mate of mine has a diesel xj in the 'sovereign' spec and he has changed the whole engine 3 times, the latest from a xf. I don't have a problem with diesel but not in Jaguar's 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣. The tyers on the other hand try Michielin primacy they have alot of grip, compared to the Pirelli p zero's which are slick

      @toooldclassics  Рік тому +1

      4.2 V8 I anticipate is very refined! The diesels were very popular in the end. I think most of the X358s sold were probably diesel. The diesels need regular oil changes as premature bearing failure (as an example) can be an issue if the oil keeps getting contaminated with fuel.

      @@toooldclassics she is!!!!!!, now I wish I got the super v8 🤣🤣🤣🤣. To be fare the diesels are not bad but need a bit more tlc then a petrol engine and for someone like me that has no clue about car maintenance etc it's a nightmare 😢. And on top of that every big car manufacturers were trying to catch up to Mercedes 'S' class which had a big grip on the diesel markets especially the S320/50 models. My opinion Jaguar should of left the XJ brand in petrol platforms either a v6/v8 option's, and the new XF/XE in diesels. Slowly integrating electric option's in the XJ. Sadly Jaguar are no longer looking into the XJ brand, x350/356/358 will be the last 'classic' designed Jaguar 'XJ'. The x351 is absolutely gorgeous inside but the outside not so much, love the backend though 😉😉😏.

    Hi. Can you tell me if Jaguar fitted these with dpf`s or what year they started? Thanks.

    • @toooldclassics
      @toooldclassics  Рік тому

      Hi, the 2.7 V6 diesel was introduced with the DPF so all model years have them. I run mine on Shell V-Power and try and avoid a succession of short journeys. Even on the shorter journeys I try and ensure that the engine is fully warmed before stopping. I know you asked specifically about DPF, but the EGR valves can also be troublesome if they soot-up as a result of regular short journeys. This is not just a Jaguar thing: all modern diesels can have issues with DFP and EGR valves. Thanks.
