Something they didn't touch: Amuso believed Casso set him up to be caught in Scranton and stripped him of his rank. He may or may not have put out a contract on him. That was a factor in him trying to become a witness.
they didn't get their asses kicked they used illegal ways to crush the mob. As the years went on from the 1920's - 1930's your chances of getting whacked by your boss, best friend or being flipped on got higher and higher as time went on, loyalty and respect has went out the window. Most of the bosses from the 1980's and after are paranoid and are killing the whole family out of paranoia.

I remember watching a doc on PBS some years ago about the mob and the mafia commission trials and how all of its leadership was now getting jailed. At one part they were talking about Tony "Ducks" Corallo. They showed how the car at 2:21 got bugged. After parking the car TD got out and left to do dome business. There were two men he left behind whose sole purpose was to make sure NO ONE could get to the car; to steal it, or to bug it. Apparently bored, these two guard/protectors left the car unattended. WE can't hear them, but they probably said something like "fuck it, let's go, we'll be back in a few and nobody's gonna fuck with the car while were gone." The tapes show them walking away, and here come the the FBI agents springing into action; they had been tailing TD for some time just for this opportunity. TD always feared saying anything on tape at home, or at the businesses he frequented. He discussed business only in his car, it was safe. He thought. After all, he had his own car under surveillance FULL TIME by his OWN MEN. The FBI was of course quick, and the plant was made. TD got nailed. I often wonder what ever happened to those would be "made men." After the tapes had been public released these guys either became informants, or fled. Surely the FBI told them after arresting TD that they'd better run or else. Letting your boss getting nailed like this would have been an automatic clip on these guys. They are either dead men, rats, or living in Arizona under aliases.

The part where gaspipe forgets about killing Gotti and starts going after his own family seems to have flown over everybodys head.
nope, Gaspipe just became MORE psychotic when he couldnt get Gotti's people and just started killing people who he remembered at the time
Little Nicky Scarfo had the same senseless habbit. Thus decimating their own families.

My Familia came here from Italia in the 20’s and did not glamorize or appreciate this job life which negatively stereotyped masses of hard working Italians who positively contributed to America as new citizens. Yet, here I sit memorized.
My Mom's famiglia was the same way.My Grandfather came here from Napoli (Torre Del Greco) and me and my cousins were always told to stay out of this place or that place.
This stuff is amazing and interesting as hell!! And now it’s simply a part of Americana. Nobody was ever smart enough to do it like the Italians. I’m of German decent mostly so I’m not an Italian saying that with bias. There’s alotta groups out there and LCN owns the blue print

Gaspipe and Amuso were the 2 worst bosses in mafia history. Somebody should have clipped them both before they went on the run
Cosa Nostra would of been so much different if Buddy Luongo became boss (which he rightfully should have). Amuso and Gaspipe should have been clipped for the unsanctioned hit on him, but they couldn't b/c there was no body, so no murder.
any bonanno boss?
it was gotti that started bringing the mafia down. he was the worst boss by far. 👉🙈🙉
@@AndrewBradshaw3 the section in the “Five Families” book on Vic and Gas is amazing. They killed like 45 ppl during their rise to power. Gaspipe even killed the contractor who he hired to build his home because he was afraid he would leak the layout of his house to the FBI so they knew where to plant a bug. John Gotti probably couldn't believe his luck. A hit he sanctioned drove Gas into insanity which in turn snowballed into Gas tearing apart the family.
Gotti brought his own family down with all the publicity he brought. Then talking about murders all the time on the same apartment all the time which was bugged. Big dumbass
John alite says John never got pay back for that. Alite be talking alot shit
Good point
@@ellemathews9840 Did you watch the video? This guy single handedly destroyed the Lucchese family through murder, causing rebellion, causing multiple people to flip.
What did Gotti do? Incriminate himself on some wiretaps? Gotti's underboss took apart the Gambino family, first by going after some of their best Capos, killing them, and taking their rackets(like Gaspipe), then when he got caught, testified against dozens of the Gambino captains and soldiers, and even bosses of other families, leading to dozens of immediate convictions.

The torture murder of Jimmy Hydell was very disturbing. He begged to be allowed to die.

They said that the American mafia didn't use bombs. Well they did in the 1970's. I thought they did in the 1980's also.
Yes they used the bomb to make the gambino's think it was members of Paul castellano family that done it. And it worked!!

Sure, but there's hardly any new information about them. Just recycled info from 20+ years ago. These documentaries are going in circles around the same info.
Something they didn't touch: Amuso believed Casso set him up to be caught in Scranton and stripped him of his rank. He may or may not have put out a contract on him. That was a factor in him trying to become a witness.
Where did you get that information from?

they didn't get their asses kicked they used illegal ways to crush the mob. It's the only organized crime syndicate where the government has to catch them before the actual act on a crime through wiretaps. Unlike other crime groups where they easily get them after the crime is commited like the bloods or crips.

As the years went on from the 1920's - 1930's your chances of getting whacked by your boss, best friend or being flipped on got higher and higher as time went on, loyalty and respect has went out the window. Everyone is greedy and wants the throne for themselves. Nobody is happy being a under boss or under. Most of the bosses from the 1980's and after are paranoid and are killing the whole family out of paranoia.

Fast forward today- Vic Amuso still controls the Lucchese Family behind bars and recently replaced Bronx-based Acting Boss Matthew Madonna with Brooklyn-based Michael DeSantis. Mickey Paradiso is now a part of the Gambino admin.
