In my office women are paid more not because to empower women because they deserve it and those women provide that service. Male actors are producer because they invest their salary on the movie. If the movie is hit then they get a profit share if loss they make zero its a risky process. They take those risks because unke naam pe chalti hai movie that is called star power. In south india sirf announce kardo "rajinikanth movie coming soon" thats it. Picture ki zabardast opening hogi. One needs to understand this

In entertainment industry pay disparity will always exists. Main reason is audience who watch the films of these stars. People go gaga over male superstar and bring in 200-300 cr at the box office and for female superstar only some like Deepika, Kangana brings money on board but it's still not comparable to the male counterparts. So, yes change is happening but there is still long way to go
