      yeah I was surprised at how slow the ball looked like it was moving in serves and thought that I could return those kinds of serves, until I started counting and realized that there is only about 1.5 seconds from when the ball goes over the net to when you have to hit it

    • @grapeacado8131
      @grapeacado8131 6 років тому +2

      Jammin Out I once got to play against the number one at my high school, 3 star recruit. Watching him I figured I could return his serve pretty easily.
      Boy was I wrong. His kicker bounced off the court faster than most first serves I've seen

    Hard to believe watching this that in a few years Mackie will take at the time the number 3 in the world Grigor Dimitrov to a incredible five-setter in the Aussie Open. Man, do they grow up fast.

    Mackie was a local boy, my coach Rosie had him as a kid, at the Claremont in Berkeley. One of the real success stories for the program. (I was a lot older and never had the tiniest promise that he had). He certainly improved a lot from then too. This match has a lot of mistakes, but he doesn't seem to make those mistakes much anymore. Fawcett was a good player, and gave a lot of trouble to many, but Mackie had the consistency. He now has a really big forehand too.

      because in college tennis it's almost always a serve and maybe a return so if people are gonna watch a match it'll be in the lower courts where they actually can have rallies because the serves aren't so wild

    • @greenlampshade8909
      @greenlampshade8909 3 роки тому

      Just me or does his ball toss end up a little left of ideal because his step moves his body to the right? Seems the toss would have perfect placement in platform serve. Must have one heck of a stubborn toss to change serve motion!
      Neither serve type is superior. Whichever feels natural/comfortable and makes you THINK it is the superior way to serve, will be the best service motion.

    Cringe! Referring to yourself in the third person; changing your outfit between sets; screaming 'Let's Go' as if you're playing a Grand Slam for a million dollars. Remember kids, be really serious, tennis isn't a game to be enjoyed, it's a brutal way to crush the opposition and walk around with a huge ego. I think Americans prefer boxing to chess, what do you think? Do they really play no let's because they can't be trusted to make an honest line call?

    • @mcluhanmedia1223
      @mcluhanmedia1223 6 років тому

      Yes they play no lets for that reason and too many players were calling lets on serves they didn’t like since both sides can call a let, which made games very difficult to get through. It’s so ridiculous they can’t have lets.

    • @AIMBOTKATFISH
      @AIMBOTKATFISH 6 років тому

      This is the number one court of a collegiate rivalry (almost 150k views on UA-cam). So ya, there will be some intensity, some "let's go" and the guy is probably coaching himself when referring to himself in the third person.

    • @wava2187
      @wava2187 6 років тому +1

      @@AIMBOTKATFISH Having the loudest scream doesn't make you the most intense, verbalising a thought doesn't make it more intellectual, having the biggest ego doesn't make you the better player, and having rivalries that mean you can't be trusted with line calls is just sad. I know exactly how good these players are and why they do what they do, I've been playing/coaching/following tennis for 25 years, but young players need to control their emotions and enjoy the game to better learn from their losses and win more.
