As far as I'm concerned, I'm keeping my Toyworld in Devastator mode and buying X-Transbots for individual robot modes. I don't like the look of X-Transbots Devastator, but I love how they look as individual bots.
I'll probably combine mine but we'll see as I advertising think Xtransbots might have the best Devastator. I also pre-ordered MMC's take on them and I will combine that one. Never got around to buying Toyworld's as I'm more into toon accurate G1 Transformers.
@@BS-Reviewzso far, we’ve only seen Renders of the full combined mode (although some parts of it are visibly unfinished). If you Google X-Transbots Desecrator you’ll see the gray renders of Devastator
The plastic in my Toyworld has started to crumble. Hook split apart at the leg screws so the devy chest has compromised. So I went from "got my Devy" to "oh crap i need to find out if XTB or FT will be the one"
Do you have an early release or a later release for TW? I've just been trying to determine if later runs used inferior plastic or not since most issues I've heard about were on later runs (besides Long Haul's wheel breaking off) .
@cameronmoriarty3313 I have one of the later Perfect releases. Left it posed in my cabinet and almost never touched it. If you happen to be on tfw forum the photo of the break is posted there.
@@cameronmoriarty3313Can confirm that the later perfect release has far more issues with plastic quality. But even the earlier ones can show fairly serious plastic degradation.
Oh no.. I accidentally kicked mine and broke a peg on Bonecrusher, but havent had any deterioration. I have the set that included the gap fillers and foot-extenders for LongHaul.
The later Toyworld releases the quality started to dip significantly. The perfect edition TW-07x was the beginning of the issues but was still solid. The later releases were junky cash grabs. I got the Green Weathered one for a grand and it was a disappointing hunk of dung. Painted over existing paint, too thick gumming up the joints, fracturing plastic. I sold it for someone's parts after Scrapper's upper torso sheared off in leg mode. I sold the "Perfect" Edition I had as well. Currently I own a Yellow Weathered and the Metallic Green with the green thighs, they are older editions and absolutely marvels of engineering, durable just magnificent.
Just got my XTB Long Haul in hand and I'm glad to see they've been improving their build and transformations. Definitely a top 10 figure, and most likely a top 5. BTW, are you planning on reviewing Metagate Shatter? It's my figure of the year and reminds me a lot of the older UT movie bots like their Lockdown and Prime.
Great VS episode! It is really funny to see how two people can have completely different taste for bot designs and aesthetics. I personally think that's great as otherwise all the collections out there would have all the same bots and it would be far less fun to look at the photos of other collections. 🤘
It's good to see X-Transbots pulling it together with some fantastic releases, I hope they can keep it going. I actually prefer the Studio OX version of Devastator so I'm good there, however, X-Transbots it tempting for sure. Great comparison.
I've got all the same issues basically but I backed out the screws on the thighs and got rotation back with them with some adjustments. Had the same fender problem as TMreviews but gently wiggled the fender until it became free with gentle use of the joint. Not as good as fast but good enough that he displays nicely outside of the hole in the faux windshield. I hear somebody is making a sticker to cover this flaw and I'll buy one when I see one for sale. They did a lot better job with fast and big load so there's hope that XTB gets it together. I hope the next pair of Omni bots and the additional Protectobots and Constructicons are better than Fury or Fuzz.
Was this the best pairing for a vs? Feel like they were going for different things. For me, a toon devy just doesn't appeal at all, since the toon made him look so awkward and dorky. I'd get the XTB for the individual bots but I don't know if I care enough to spend that much.
He's not too expensive as he's only $139 on ShowZstore but, if you get the toy version, he's only $109. Since I actually like the toy look, that's the version I went with. Add in the fact that it's free shipping and no tax, it's not too bad of a price. Only downside is, it takes up to 2 weeks to arrive. Mine was shipped on 2/3/24 and it just arrived here today on 2/10/24. If I'm lucky, it'll get delivered today, if not, then Monday.
@@saysoun752 for one guy that's not too bad but there's six of these, and at least one of them will probably come with devy parts that drive that price up. If I had one super-favorite constructicon that'd be different
@@badlamprey891 Sadly, this will probably be the cheapest you're going to get them for as the Toyworld sells for $600 plus on the aftermarket. I expect Fanstoys to be just like their Superion set where they're all roughly $200 each and the one with the combiner parts $400.
@@saysoun752 I find it ironic to judge a "youth"/toy version based on toon accuracy, so I think the point about "is this the best pairing for a vs?" stands.
@@bobagorof First off, I wasn't talking about if this was the best vs but more on pricing. The toy version is $109, which is pretty cheap for a Masterpiece scale figure but, there's going to be 6 figures. As far as vs goes, what other Constructicons can be compare them to as Toyworld is probably the best one out there as Hasbro's take on them is pretty cheap. As for toon accuracies, it's part of his category that he always compares so he can't just take it out just because they're going for totally different takes. I love Devastator so I've got XTB, Fanstoys and MMC all on pre-order. I don't know if I'll keep Fanstoys yet, really depends on how XTB turns out as I've yet to get him. However, I'll be keeping MMC regardless if I go with Fanstoys or XTB.
I think if I was going to get into an MP Devastator, it'd be the Fans Toys. I've had the toyworld figure, wound up selling it. The biggest issue I had with it was the joint tolerances. Some of them so scary I didn't want to move it at all. Looks like Bobby had an issue too, since he's got a wheel broken off.
I think TW Constuctor is a great set, though as individual figures they are not quite to the same quality as you might expect from an MP. More like a CHUG. But I like the chunky, solidity of them, and their transformation is mostly intuitive and not painfully complex. They feel more like a really great toy, rather than a high end collectible. Which is not a negative, because you feel like you can play with these and not be too afraid to damage them. XTB looks like it'll be an excellent alternative/upgrade though.
7:33 the "1 wheel on the legs for TW" is not TW's design, that is just a wide spread break issue from the first run. That is more of a Build and/or materials issue than a looks issue.
I sold my second set of Toyworld Constructicons, fully planning to buy FT for my bot mode display. I bought XTB Long Haul (cause I like buying things) and now I think I want both sets.
Wow! Love the videos! Love the reviews and vs. I ALWAYS wanted a Toyworld Devastator, but at the time of release, I couldn't afford it. Now, trying to find one is hard, and they're almost double or triple price. So I'm getting the X-Transbots ones. This will be my first MP style Constructicon and my first X-Transbot figure. Makes me really excited to see the enthusiasm you have for this figure.
I have the XTB Stunticons and they are nice quality. They are one of the top 3rd Party brands. They give Takara MPs a run for their money, and they are generally reasonably priced too.
@drewlovelyhell4892 Very nice! I recently got mine, and he's freaking awesome! And massive! I'm really looking forward to the rest of them and really hope they are all just as good. I also hope the combiner mode is solid and works out, but we'll see as they release.
I just bought XTB's Big Load. I was waiting on people's reviews, and people seem generally happy with the figure. Now the only point that makes this worth it is if XTBs can finish a combiner lmao.
Personally, I am a slut for G1, but I have to agree with Bobby. Out of all of the Constructicons, Long Haul has been the most meh in design for me. The TW look fits the character much better. Just like the Combiner Wars Long Haul.
I was in on this set until I saw the pre-order for the Fans Toys and cancelled the XTB for the FT. Reason being, I bought one XTB figure Jannsen and the arm that holds his scope/cannon broke the very first time I changed him back to robot from microscope modes. That made me buy the FT 2.0 Perceptor and I was very skeptical on the Constructicon set, then I saw your first impressions before I cancelled my patreon membership and was almost immediately hit with remorse. Sticking to my guns though with the FT. Maybe later down the road and what I see from the reviews, if positive, maybe I will pick the set up.
OI this is a fun one... I don't see myself letting go of Toyworld Devy, BUT for individual display I'm hoping Fanstoys hits it on the head. The alt mode XT is perfect and the bot mode seems to tall/skinny but I think it looks more finished/less toy looking. REALLY hoping Fantsoys knocks this one out, the alt mode will be hard to match, the bot mode will not. I do wish... even using a toon accurate template, they would breath some life in these. Take some creative freedom and make the bots come alive :)

Agreed. Most bought TW because they were the only MP-ish Devastator on the market. We’re finally getting proper toon version, so TW is out for a lot. Good news is, as these other sets get close to completion, there should be a good number of TW hit the secondary market.
Big load will look awesome in bot mode next to Jinbao Devastator with the 2.0 upgrade and NBK bots in alt mode. Can’t wait for him to arrive. Send that shit out Chosen Prime…
I think you should ditch Cartoon Accuracy as a category and change it to Media Accuracy. Then when comparing things like Studio Ox to Cartoon or Cartoon to Comic, whoever is closer to their target media is better.
Have you criticised TW Long Haul for only having one wheel on one leg? It's like that because it's broken. He's supposed to have a wheel on each leg. Add point for sculpt at the back, deduct a point for build quality. Oh, never mind, it evens out.
If you look at his transformation sequences, you'll see that it's not broken but the other wheel is hidden and you clearly see him pulling it out. Then in vehicle mode, you see all four tires.
I bought the dirty green version of toyworlds devy. A later release, and it was solid as he'll. Transformed it from bots to devy several times cause I couldn't figure how i wanted them displayed. Gonna keep him now as devastator and get the x transbots for bot mode, problem solved.
Never liked the Toyworld one but wow that just looks like some ancient Fansproject shit next to the XTB. And Bobby is correct, there are no Studio Ox designs for the individual bots, which may be why Toyworld's look so terrible.
Wait, you said a Toyworld Constructor Long Haul is built well?!? This is the single worst collectible I’ve ever bought. It was broken right out of the box and the plastic is about as durable as cheddar cheese at room temperature. I find it insulting to say that they are both built equally well.
