It was hard to use earplugs after my master told me sound and feel is more important than sight (barring fireflies). Hand on table, hand on vise or what not to feel the cut. There's nothing link the "swish" sound of a fly cutter performing optimally.
Great video! Very informative. One thing I see, though, is that you're wearing a wedding ring. In my shop, no rings allowed. Far too dangerous! Lots of great information in this video and very easy to follow!! Congrats!
you broke one of the most basic rules in machine shop safety - wearing jewelry while running equipment. not only a ring but also a watch. Both items have been known to get caught in rotating machinery and cause severe bodily harm. When I was looking for colleges to send my son to, I wanted to see their machine shop and possibly meet the lead technician. One of the highest rated school in the country and the machineshop technician, who would be teaching our kids, was missing all of the fingers on one of his hands! I ended our conversation politely and looked for a different college.
confused you talk about a burr causing a part not to be square in a vise but you didn't place the part on parallels so it is set flat. Also the vise wasn't clamped to the drill press table
Guys....if your going to make videos....you absolutely hafta make them correctly or don't post....the power switch for the mill "DOES NOT" have a high an low setting. Your going to get someone hurt
Extremely informative and explained with clarity 👏🏿 thank you.

why didn't you clamp down the piece when you drilled it? If the became tight in the hole and spun it could cause injury to one's fingers and hand.

Saaweet geeezus! Lathe rotation is not classified as "Correct or incorrect" direction. What is goin on down there?
Good and regular common sense.
And, of course don't use any machinery without a training.
