I'm so tired of being inspo-porn. I love your work, will keep following. Thanks for writing and talking about reality.
"the hard work was up to me." The stanza that followed that line was amazing. The way you performed this piece and your voice as you did really made this piece epic. I loved your passion and pain ... thanks for sharing this one. Keep writing.
VinoVenitas thanks so much for the positive feedback man!
Nice to see you back! Love this :) Are you able to report these drivers? Seriously, they need sensitivity training. Here the bus drivers aren't allowed to ask you what happened etc They'd get in big trouble! Ive had some questionable experiences but never EVER had a driver question my disability. (Even yesterday when I walked my chair on... the driver assumed I was taking it to someone else) You deserve a safe and comfortable commute without the fear for being harassed when you're just trying to get from point A to B! Also it's UNACCEPTABLE for the ramp not to be working. The driver got lucky you could take a few steps... What if you were paralyzed or in a power wheelchair? You would have had NO way to get off the bus. Man it makes me angry how little consideration and respect people give to anyone with a disability. Here in Canada (in general) no one really bothers you...Everyone has their head in their phones.
Hey Robyn, I came upon your video because a classmate posted it for a discussion on intersectionality, and I wanted to tell you that your performance and your writing has really given me some empathic insight with which to inspect a bias that I wasn't fully aware of. I hope you are still writing and performing; your perspective is powerful.
Thank you for this, it feels good to hear these experiences in words
Really enjoyed this, and related to it. Thanks for sharing!
You put everything I feel everytime I have to take a bus or a train or even a plane. I hate the way people make me feel. I've even been told I'm too pretty to be handicap and a homeless man said beauty was wasted on "a cripple" like me. I cried for hours when the homeless man said that yet I still gave him money. My own mother told me many times life was wasted on me. I've listened to super cruel people say things on the bus and hide in the bathroom at the mall and cried. People can be so hurtful some without meaning to be. I admire you for putting your feelings out there. I'd like to share your video and spoken word if that's ok
Life Of A Broken Doll I'm so glad you could relate but I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Please share away!
