Religious fights have always been there since the 9th century. It was muslim leader's decision to divide India on the religion line so that they had a fair chance of winning an election. Like kings were fearful losing power, democratic leaders were also fearful that they can never be elected in democratic system. It was a natural decision for jinna and other muslim leader to somehow divide India on the religion line so that they don't have the risk of losing power. Blame must go to jinnah and iqbal. Nehru and Gandhi had nothing to worry about as Hindus were the majority almost everywhere.
