Some tips to keep your pets safe this winter. Rock salt and ice melt are used on streets roads, and sidewalks to melt ice and to give our tires traction. They can irritate a pets skin and can be toxic when ingested. Even pet friendly ice melt can cause burn the only difference is the shape. pet ice melt is not jagged like rock salt but is still burns!. wipe those feet. Remember the best way to keep your pet safe is to prevent! Keep pets away from antifreeze by cleaning up spills and keeping containers out of reach of pets. Keep pets indoors during extreme cold and rain to prevent hypothermia and frostbite make sure you dry wet animals thoroughly. contact your veterinarian or emergency vet if your pet has any sign or symptoms of hypothermia, frostbite, antifreeze or rock salt poisoning.
